best fcs recruits, 2013

Based on this list, I come away with the conclusion that Barlow may have critics but even they have to admit he can recruit.

SU fans, is Baker's weight (265) correct? If so, he may be a dominant TE.

Nope. 265. Chuck wouldn't dare move to TE anyway, they would make him lose weight. Both our TEs return from last year and we picked up another one so....................... Wide out is a spot I will be really looking at from the BR transfer from ULL to Chuck. :read:

SU always has WR's. This group has a chance to be special. Potential wise they have a chance the be better than the 03 group. We will see how they progress.

I agree but in order for them to come close to the 03 group, 2 of those newcomers have to break out.

We had Ard, Chris, Lionel Joseph, James Vernon, and Bridges.

We have a few now, but will a few of those newcomers step up is the question. I'm expecting big things from Miami

they salty on the fcs site. feeling like hbcu's over-represented b/c you know...how can we be that good, most of us are not even in the playoffs! odu seems to have eeery other player on the list.

To be honest I see a parallel with Reggie Barlow and Willie Totten. Both had great careers at their alma maters, then came back to coach. Both were very good at bringing in talent, but lacked in player development and gameday managing

there is no question Barlow can recruit

not that he's a great recruiter but he's got a beautiful stadium and great practice facility...... fcs version of Oregon or alabama. they're making troy and tulane spend money to catch up to them on facilities. po' uab isn't even allowed to compete with bama state on the amenities front.

SU's Endzone complex was bettter than alot of FBS schools in the state also. ULL is also building and remodeling their complex.

I will be glad when we can upgrade our stuff.........:smh:

Last time I checked, Tommy Gooden wasn't on a list. Rakeem Sims wasn't on a list. Qua Cox wasn't on anybody's list coming out of HS. That stuff is good for talking points over the summer, but not much else. I like what Comegy does now as far as recruiting goes. And an over-priced Dome that we really can do without won't change a thing in the long run.

True I would rather have a complete facility upgrade across the Athletic Dept and a smaller stadium but thats another discussion for another topic! Comegy still is the man as far as bringing in recruits and transfers who make a difference...Gone are the days where JSU bring in transfers who end up being bust....We pretty much get everything we need thru the high school ranks!

You can probably say that about every coach in the SWAC right now. Jury's still out on UAPB's coach. I like what I saw from them last season.

No its not.. he has been a UAPB for like 8 years and ain't did nothing before last year. He backed into Bham in 2006 when the WEST was actually weaker than it is now.

Comegy just needed to learn what it takes to recruit (and be compliant) on this level. He brought in recruits who were busts because he knew he could (well, thought he could) just replace them with someone else next year. But now that APR put the foot on his throat to take more time evaluating players with more stability. And it turns out, he's not that bad at it.

What's wrong with JSU's stuff. Maybe I was missing something. Everything looks nice around campus. Maybe time for a updated basketball facility. Don't the players use the Walter Payton Complex? Or is it just for the students.
