Best and Worst Coach in the SWAC

Sitting here thinking and the thought crossed my mind of who was the Best and Worst coach in the SWAC. I have my thoughts but I want to see what you all thk. My nominee for the best HC in the SWAC right now are Jay Hopson and Rick Comegy. Just my honest opinion my JSU folks. The worst SWAC coaches right now are Reggie Barlow and Harold Jackson. With my assessment, I took in consideration the talent level at all the institutions. The coach at Grambling is doing a great job this year also.

Comegy!!!????

But since we here. Group them by best new coach vs worst and best incumbent vs worst... Easy Fobbs and Jackson And Hobson and Barlow!!!

End of discussion.

Comegy has consistently been a good coach in the SWAC, he is not working with much right not but I believe he will turn Miss Valley around in a few years.

Yep, Fobbs is doing fantastic! I don't much about him but he has had a major impact in a short period of time!

Hopson right now at this moment is the class of the SWAC. I need another year out of Fobbs before I anoint him as a first year coach. He gets credit for turning around GSU in a short amount of time. Odums seems to have SU back on track because they've been consistent since being named full time head coach

Barlow can get wins off talent but i think the ASU posters have voiced their frustrations with his X's and O's.

Comegy has the track record but need another year or two to get his recruits in place. Same with Spady who still has AAMU alive in the race for the East. PV and TSU have decent coaches but don't know if they are the coaches needed to push those schools to the next level in talent rich Texas

And then there is Bobby Rush

I think it's Fobbs as the best coach right now when you consider the situation he was placed in upon taking the job. The program was in shambles last season. There was a lot of uncertainty. To come in and do the job he's done in his first season as a head coach puts him a special class.

I think Fobbs should get some national coach of the year buzz as well

Fobbs and Odmus both talk a good game too. Harold Jackson omg he's horrible lol when he speaks I'm like wut the heck lol.

This dude said Bobby Rush

LMAO

man I gotta give it to Odums..when he wanna coach, (when we are losing by 20) dude can coach with the best of them..and get the most out a player..

I've seen dude sit Willie Quinn down Lol...(for a play or two)

Gramblings coach is the best.

I think AAMU will be a beast in a year or two, once he gets the players for his system. My only concern for them is their defense.

I know this is about the head coaches, but please know that it's the staff that is assembled that makes the BIG Difference. Fobbs knows his X's and O's, but he also did a helluva job getting the right fits as his assistants. You know... what gets my attention is all the "they can't coach in the SWAC" rhetoric we hear and here comes a guy from the Southland Conference and he stays within the conference (except for his DC) in hiring his assistants.

I concur completely and I would add:

I think it's Jackson as the worst coach right now when you consider the situation he was placed in upon taking the job. The program was coming from the Championship Game last season. There were a lot of high hopes for the season. To come in and do the job he's done in his first season as a head coach puts him a special class.

Dooley would look good on our sidelines in Montgomery as a HC.

Harold should be considered the worst given he was placed in a great situation to succeed. Hell comegy went to Valley and beat JSU....that shit does not sound right at all.

I had JSU finishing third in the East anyway because of Jackson limited head coaching experience and success combined with a first year OC and redshirt QB out there. Most importantly, I just thought Alcorn State and Alabama State were flat out better football teams than JSU, which has proven to be true. JSU being behind those schools doesn't surprise me. The way they have performed has, though.

I take back what I said about Odums..against coaches in the SWAC...dude can out-coach anyone when he's trailing in the ball game...

Against teams outside of the SWAC, he struggles badly...

We played a lot of young players on defense. We will be much improved. The coach plans to concentrate on defensive and offensive linemen plus quarterback in the upcoming signing class.

Our def. coordinator was with A&M previously under Cooper. he plans to instill a much more aggressive defense when the pieces are in place.

Fobbs is the best

Jackson is the worst right now!

Spady would be top 3 simply by getting a lot of mainly freshmen and sophmores to beat a team picked to compete for the SCG!

The SWAC was dumb for picking us last ....what a joke

its all good though..this year is our rebuilding year and we are just putting the system into place for a title run for the 2015 season...I would be okay with a 2nd place finish this year considering once again we were picked dead last in the SWAC
