Re: JSU football left in limbo as Bell goes into Year 3

Culberson, Mason, and Bell don't care about our football tradition. They don't even use vaseline.

If Bell gets 4 years and can only beat teams with losing records, he will be fired too. You people act like we fired Hughes azz for nothing. All he had to do was win and he didn't!!

As usual, blaming Hughes!!!!

Quote from the Clarion: Shelly Hart of Huntsville, Ala., president of the JSU Alabama Alumni Chapter, said in an e-mail this week that Bell should remain.

"He has great skills to improve our program and the leadership abilities to get the job done," Hart said in the e-mail.

Ignorance is bliss

I bet she has not been to one game.

Re: JSU football left in limbo as Bell goes into Year 3

She attended HC...and she is an arse kisser to Bell, Culberson, and Mason. I be so glad when she can be voted out as Huntsville local JSU Alumni President.

She must be doing all three.

Re: JSU football left in limbo as Bell goes into Year 3

JSU officials are pleased with improved classroom attendance and grade point averages of football players. They also are pleased with what they consider an improved overall character of the Tiger players.

I was told that the NCAA made a rule change concerning eligibility of athletes. I was also told that this rule will have a greater affect on HBCUs than PWCs, I do not understand it and maybe some of you that are close to your programs can explain what is going on in this area. This may have been a key factor in keeping Bell. This is just an opinion, but if they are doing it in the classroom, JSU may be better off with Bell when this new rule I don't understand becomes effective.

PNeck, Jagvoice, Jafus and others what do you know about this rule?

Mighty Dog for the first time since the early 90's, we had about 21 freshmen who qualified for redshirts.

Oh well TGO will be smackcotting '05 I guess. :smh:

Are you admitting that the reloading the JSU Mafia talked about was not true. You cannot will with Freshmen. If you coach has to depend on these guys in the SWAC, he will not be back for a third season.

Interesting comments.

Good luck JState. We (PV) know all too well your struggles.

MH, Bell is probably the best recruiter in the SWAC. Most of his players have yet to hit the field. 90% of Hughes players were on the field this year. The transition is about to begin.
Seriously, IMHO, you are contradicting yourself. First, you say that Hughes left absolutely no talent, but after 2 years, bells recruits aren't good enough to get on the field, take this year at Southern for example, except for James Vernon, all of our recievers were new, we put them in the game, and they produced. If Hughes players can't play, then he should have brought in some players that could play, but according to your statement, he didn't.

Hughes went in "99" remember we lost to SU...So what is your point?

He was interim then. He was mandated to go in 2001 and again in 2002..he failed so he got what he deserved.

Bruh, Bell's recruits are freshmen....geez. His first class had 8 people in it and most of the TD's scored this year were by his recruits. Bell failed in bringing in some quality linemen...the same area in which Hughes failed but Bell has had VERY limited scholarships.

Hughes destroyed our talent. The man could not recruit. Our talent dropped significantly under his watch. Bell has to rebuild. Before Hughes got there, we had NFL prospects on the bench for two years.

So you are saying that the coach that took ya'll to the SCG as interim coach and kept a winning record throughout his tenure was not good enough but the coach you have now is?

I knew TP would step up to the plate and defend Bell.

Where is robber -

Mason, is dangerous - he applied for the Presidents job at TSU, but it was given to Hefner - what a combination.

I think what we all see from the Jackson State situation is that winning matters. JSU, GSU,and SU have a rich tradition of winning. The decline in JSU's attendance in two years is significant. There are so many SWAC alumni that can't seem to understand why Texas Southern's attendance isn't better than what it is now. Texas Southern's football has experienced decades of a poor product. When this happens you lose fans that you had and you fail to gain any new ones due to the records.

That is why an athletic program need to have evryone on the same page. It becomes a complete effort and accountability is imporatnt. I'm sure that JSU will be ok.
