Way back in the day, the BOOM was known as that "Little Band with the Big Band Sound."

And 1971, I believe.

Half right. You got the date right on the nickname.

That wasn't the one I was looking for, but that may have been the original one. That was one of the nicknames though, but I don't think it was the "official name".

Well to get back on the subject at hand, some things take more time than others, I was blessed to march in the UAPB M4 band from 99-02 and we were figuring the same thing with Prof. Graham, but as you can see as time progressed the band got better than before. Matter of fact the come up year for Pine Bluffs M4 was 99, before that they was just a band that I've seen JSU blow on a year both bands came to chicago. But I've digressed, I know Liddell has been around for some years now, and yes the band has gottin bigger, but is it really his fault that his band isn't marching? Or is it, the band members have lost their pride in which Liddell was trying to instill in them? Is Liddell listening to his band members comments and concerns about the shows, is he getting their input, or is he taking everything into his own hands and putting more stress on himself? If I didn't learn anything else about marching in a University band, is that you gotta know the history of your band and find pride in keeping it going strong, looking and sounding good.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it, that's why I voted for Liddell to stay.

Yes its Liddell's fault if his band isn't marching. A Marching Band is only as good as it's Director.

Sure is sad that the people expected to support and cheer for the Boom can't have an opinion about how the band performs in front of us. I couldn't blow any type of horn if you offered me a zillion dollars, but I do know what entertains me and can compare what I see from other bands to the Boom.

I love the Boom. I enjoy the Boom. But I can still be critical.

I think a select few on this board are personally defending Liddell as a person. But, they can't defend the Boom's poor performances at halftime.

Haughton conservative style was the thing that set the Boom apart from all of the other bands in the SWAC.
