Put it like this. I am willing to be that getting fired is the last thing Bob Stoops is worried about. Because I am sure he knows that if the day ever comes that OU fires him, he will have no problem finding another job with another major program.

Stoops never coached at OSU.

He is right JR. He never coached at Ohio State but he is from Ohio I think.

Plus...as much as I hate Stoops. OU will never fire him for losing a bowl game.


Hell..just by him going to the bowl he bringing the schools million of dollars and national exposure you cant pay for.

Bottom line...Stoops played politics to get into this game.He knew if he go out and score a truckload of points that would move him up the rankings. But since points scored don't count anymore. He played that we are the best during his face time on TV.

Fugg the sooners and the wagon they rode in on.

Stoops never coached at OSU.

Stoops is from Youngstown Ohio and spent some time in coaching camps under Earle Bruce. After spending a few years as a grad assistant under Hayden Fry at Iowa right after his playing career at Iowa he started hanging around OSU around the 87 time frame. Bruce got fired after the 87 season and Stoops went on to Kent State in 88 as an assistant. The Ohio State folks wanted Stoops over Tressel when he got the job. Whether he was actually on the payroll is a different story

Now that is the OSU version of the story. I have heard it many times. But things change when a coach is fired. So maybe he had an offer from Bruce and Bruce got canned. Tressel was on that same staff.

I do know Tressel, Stoops and Meyer are all very tight friends. Stoops family and Tressel's family are both coaching legends in the state.

They are all from Ohio. Don't know what was in the water. Miles, Meyer, Stoops, Tressel, Pete, the Coles, and Saban is from right next door in WVA.

Right. And it definitely doesn't hurt when your conference gets the benefit of the doubt to actually play in the championship game every other year. How many times have there been multiple one-loss teams, yet the SEC got a virtual automatic bid to the title game?

I noticed you even went back to that Tennessee win over FSU. How about going back a couple more years pre-BCS and posting how the SEC fared against those Tom Osbourne Nebraska teams?



There's no way Florida or Oklahoma could be considered head and shoulders better than USC or Utah this year. That is precisely why the BCS needs to go.

Nah...They had like 5 straight win streak at the Red River Shootout from 2000 to 2004 One of those RB he used to have scored like 6 times in one game.
