I guess the National Guard has been reassigned...And ole Gov. G. Wallace is spinning and turning cart-wheels in his grave right about now....Boy yall crack me up with this "Roll Tide Roll" and this "Geaux Tigers", like it was ever ment for US to ever utter those phrases....What a sad sight.....

I seem to recall Southern fans cheering their arses off when LSU won the title a few years ago. And I don't have a problem with that.

What some of you are forgetting is that a lot of BLACK PEOPLE marched, fought, and died for our right to attend any university on this planet that we choose to. We also have a right to cheer for any university's football team we choose to.

I've stated a hundred times on this board that some of the most Afro-Centric, black-centered, knowlegeable, coolest black people I know, actually attended PWC's. Specifically, the University of Alabama. While some of the fakest, uncle toms I know actually attended HBCU's. Specifically some of the so-called upper crust HBCU's which will remain nameless.

Your "Blackness" is not defined by where you get your college degree. It ain't that simple. Herman Cain (remember him) is a Morehouse Man, by the way . . . the same institution that produced Martin Luther King, Jr..

There are racist people at every institution or sports team on the planet. If you can't root for Bama, then you can't root for the Atlanta Falcons, or the LA Lakers, or the NY Yankees, or . . .

I'm a proud HBCU graduate, and Alabama State University has always been number one in my heart . . . but the Crimson Tide is number one on the gridiron!!!

Roll Dayum Tide ! ! !

years ago, I couldn't work where I work now, I couldn't live where I live now, but am I wrong to work here now, am I wrong to live here now? If I couldn't go to school at school x years ago, am I wrong to go to school x now? I couldn't go to the grocery store then, couldn't drink from certain fountains then, had to ride the back of the bus then (that list of things I couldn't do could go on forever) , so because of that history, does that make it wrong for me to go to the grocery store now, to now drink from any fountain, ride in the front? etc. Or maybe thats what you want. Maybe you want segregation. Black folks shouldn't go to Bama or LSU. Maybe you think black people shouldn't be allowed to work here. Black people shouldn't be allowed to live there. Or Black people shouldn't go to school there. Since you brought up George Wallace, just maybe you believe in what he said, "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever"

btw, at some point, pro football (as was just about anything you can think of) was largely segregated. Am I wrong to pull for a pro team now?

Well MH...I'll start with the in bold part....Not exactly true...I would rather more white folks go to Southern and Bama State.....I more lean towards the benefits of the situation going the HBCU's way instead of the PWC....I lean more to our communities or our businesses growing from incoming folks and incoming talent and at the same time preserving our own. I in no way form or fashion want our school to be segregated....I welcome all, all people, all talent, and ALL MONEY...Segregation....Wow....Deseg.....Wow....the tricky Battle fought by our forefathers that we have mis-interpreted....It was to have the right to go anywhere and be anywhere, but more importantly it was the fight for equality....not so that we would go and abandon ours, but more to go and get from to bring back to ours....It wasn't to just leave and support others, but more to go and get from others what you didn't have and bring back to your own and teach and share the knowledge or wealth in your own communities...It wasn't to go to Bama and LSU and become absorbed by them and then go out and bring more to them FROM your own, but more like go to Bama or LSU if they had something that wasn't offered at your HBCU, learn it, do it, know it, and then come back and give it to that HBCU so that they could offer it too....we missed the boat on this one....a lot of us have become cancers to our own and don't even realize it.....

Hell Pull for whoever you want, go where you want, its a free country....but there are, well there were supposed to be some responsibilities with that.....

as for pro football and the likes....that is the only game in town....where as they was segregated, it is not today. Just know that it was not changed for your benefit, but more for the benefit of money making....so was Bama, LSU, Ole Miss, UT, Ark, etc...

But when it comes to those schools they are not the only games in town. Pro Football or Pro B-Ball is not competing against those institution which you owe your all to....those schools where it is because of them educating us folk in the first place to have the wisdom and knowledge enough to go out and fight for us to gain the right to go anywhere and be anywhere. In other words it is because of Schools like Southern and Bama State that Black folk even have the opportunity to attend schools like LSU and Bama in the first place....It sure wasn't the Bamas and the LSUs that gave, no i'm sorry "Allowed" us the opportunity to learn the law and try and change it...

Or maybe like always I'm just pissing in the wind with this, since all is well in the world and everybody is doing so great....who in the hell cares now a day anyway, right?

D from Bama State and Kendrick...I am just too tired to type right now, but your posts are covered too in the one I addressed to MH....

Nobody on here is suppose to cheer for LSU or Alabama because all black people should go to HBCUs. Nobody on here is suppose to like girls basketball because all the players are ugly. This board is owned and operated by MASSA, who control your thoughts, feelings, and your mind.

MH, you are WRONG for cheering for Alabama, I don't care if you live in Alabama. You are WRONG, I tell you who you are to cheer for and don't you forget it! Don't post another Roll Dayum Tide ! ! ever again!

I'm going to  and :lmao: the next time posters here start that YT holding us back crap when it come to sports. YOU KNOW THOSE POST ARE COMMING.

And again.
Just because ya'll keep saying it, don't make it true. Nobody has told anyone NOT to cheer for anybody. Put on the LSU tiger head and the Bamma Elephant head and run up and down the street5 waving a pom-pom if that is what you want to do. We just laughing at all these non SWAC threads that usually get a response like "Why you posting that here."

Post something about the FCS playoffs and these same posters will have a stroke, talking about how nobody GAS about that or my favorite lines "Ya'll think the white mans playoff grass is greener." "Go let MASSA pimp ya'll in the playoffs." :lmao:

Sperm you are funny....Ha Ha Ha....

Well like I said I am just pissing in the wind anyway cause again the point was missed....

for all who don't dig what I am saying, I'll say this....Pull for whomever and support whomever you wish, cause obviously I do not have the money, media, or the means to influence your opinions like the Almighty Wonderful PWCs....

In the mean time I will continue to support Southern University and all other HBCU's....(even the University of Ark....the part at Pine Bluff that is...lol)... maybe with my added support for those Golden Lions and those Hornets it will free up a lil more time for you to call those HOGS and MH more time to Roll that Tide....

Why yall feel when someone confronts yall with truth and responsibility you feel as though someone is telling you what to do...not my intention at all, do as you feel, just expressing what should be already known.....

yup, that's the thinking of some on here.

ib4jags,
Don't try to back track now. You tried to make it seem like it was inherently wrong for a black person to pull for Bama or LSU.

and sperm,
ROLL TIDE! :retard:
:lol::lol:

btw, by all means, you can keep pulling for Okie State. LOL!

I get where you are coming from. I get where folks on the other side of the spectrum are as well. Full disclosure I am, for whatever reason, infatuated with Notre Dame football. I never been to N.D. know anyone who attends N.D. or have any ties to N.D. However, I enjoy watching them play and all the history surrounding that program.

Why? I think it has a lot to do with all of their games being on national TV, and the fact I had the opportunity to read about the program via the local Chicago papers. N.D. football is covered like a school that's in Illinois or Chicago.

Heck, I have lived on the South Side of Chicago my whole life in the shadow of White Sox park. Yet, I'm one of the few Cubs fans in my family.

I also love Illinois basketball, too. My cousin was a starter on the 2005 Final Four team. I wore my Illini sweatshirt on JSU's campus the day they played UNC for the national championship. I played with guys at JSU who were Florida State football, Miami football, North Carolina basketball, and Duke basketball fans. They didn't hide it. Oddly, none of my teammates were fans of Miss. Stat, Ole Miss or USM sports, though.

I remember in high school we would watch UIC or DePaul tournament games in the library during lunch. As a result, those schools have a place in my sports fan heart as well.

I would imagine growing up in Alabama that Bama and Auburn, as explained in the riveting War Eagle/Roll Tide ESPN documentary, engulfed the entire state. Bama State and Bama A&M didn't get the local or national reverence/attention that Bama and Auburn did.

Bottom line there are so many things than influence fandom.

But on here, we suppose to only be a fan of the school we attended. On here, we suppose to only watch and take an interest in hbcu sports, or FCS sports. And when we are allowed to discuss major college sports, we have to take into account the entire history of a school before we can pull for one of those teams. :retard:

For better or worse, the major schools will always get the major press. As sports fans, that's what we see and have always seen.

and for the record, the whole notion of some posters that I'm some big time Bama fan is actually comical.

:lol::lol:

but,

ROLL TIDE!!!

Why should top athlete's choose HBCU's over PWC's again? What benefits do HBCU's offer that the PWC's don't? This a legit question. I hear all the talk about them pimping our kids but what do we do different when given ops?

People fail to realize that blacks athletes have always had a desire to perform at what we now know as BCS schools even during the period of tremendous segregation and discrimination. Go read Forty Million Dollar Slaves by William Rhoden.

MH where did I back track....never that....my points are my points, I have no control weather you guys understand them or even accept them....my points are out there do what you will with them, spin them or accept them, again I have no control over that...But I do stand behind them and will never back track....why would I...

why do people get so salty on here when Bama wins a national title?.....yall was saying the same thing in 2009 lol

people on here can pull for their respective Swac schools...and favorite FBS schools!

Alabama just happens to be mine personally....with that said!

LOL @ Frat and his sarcasm.

I think folks can cheer for who they want and go to school were they want. For me, I just don't give a fugg about the PWCs in the South for the most part. But I was raised that way. I do not begrudge anybody going to one or cheering for one.......unless you cheer for Ole Piss and Ms State. I do hate them mofos. LMAO.

LOL @ MH. I have messing with folks all week with that Roll Tide comment to the LSU fans I work with at the end of statements like that commercial. I have to admit. That is some funny isht.

Now i'm gonna go way way before the Sports aspect of things, so yall forgive me....but we were taught that long long time ago...just a byproduct of the mentality instilled in our folk right after those cruses we were invited to come here on and at the resorts we were given lodging at....It was taught that you should give your best, your best skills and talents, your best kids, and the best of whatever else you have to the white man....that is just a byproduct of that line of thinking...many of our other habits and beliefs are that way as well...think separately never unite on one common goal...don't do for yourself do for the others, spend the majority of your time building and maintaining and supporting someone else's therefore leaving little to no time or energy to build, maintain, or support your own...there are so many things along that line of thinking that has lead us to where we are today...I could go on and on for days on this, but it is the sports board, which this does tie into, but again one would have to see and understand my point...and well we know how that goes....

LOL. When you are raised in Ms those schools make it hard for you to root for. So I can understand that. My old man who hated Ole Miss and Ms State.....would love it when Bama, LSU or whomever whooped their arses. He was actually a Bear Bryant fan. I grew up rooting for HBCUs because of the JSU influence in my household and family. But my pops turned me on to the PWCs from up North and always was saying they let us (blacks) play when others would not down South and also let us in for academics way before anybody did. So I started liking my Buckeyes early on. LOL. Woody Hayes was a favorite in my house. But I grew up hating the schools in my state. My SEC dislike is more in fun than malice except for Ole Miss and State. Don't want to them do succeed in anything. USM was never a school we hated on. They had the brothers playing over there at Qb so we kind of looked at them as okay. Especially since the Ole Miss and State folks tried to look down on USM. I don't have any issues with folks on where they matriculate to college. I just want to see US graduate. No matter where. Sports is separate for me. I have cousins who graduated USM, Illinois, Michigan, various PWCs in Cali etc... so it aint no deal. I still root for UNC basketball, but again it was because the old man turned me on to Dean Smith and how he integrated the program. So I liked them way before MJ ever laced up sneaks there.

I think we all have schools we have rooted for before we became adults. For me it was cool to not only grow up liking Ohio State but once I got a chance to go there and experience the school it made me more of fan because it lived up to my expectations. So I am proud to be an alum. But I am more proud to be a SU alum since that's where I got my undergrad. But as some have said, you have racism everywhere and some schools have it more than others or their fans are more vocal about it. It is what it is. I just always hope when I see black kids go to PWCs that they graduate no different than I hope they do at a HBCU.

I absolutely love that commercial. We sent it as a link to one of the LSU fans at my job. Dude has been sick about it. Strange thing is he went to ULL or somewhere but is from Baton Rouge so he grew up as a LSU fan. Dude has been turning red every time folks say Roll Tide. LOL

ROLL TIDE ROLL

Tru doesn't matter to me who wins the "Members Only Club Title"....I still would feel the same way....I watched it for what it was, a football game that was supposed to be the best assimilation of college football talent by two teams, no emotional involvement at all....just football...wouldn't have mattered if it was Florida, Georgia, LSU, UT, OU, Auburn, or whoever....It would have been different for me if it were Bama A&M vs Tenn. State, or Bama State vs Howard, or Grambling vs NC A&T, or Jackson vs Hampton, Southern vs FAMU...you get my point....then there would be some emotion for me, to see us running around blocking and tackling FOR us and making money FOR us....hey that's just my thing....by no means do you guys have to understand it or even accept it...fine with me either way....

I again ask the question, what would it benefit a top athlete to choose an HBCU over PWC? Do people really believe HBCU's are more nurturing for top athletes.
