Bayou Classic Voted top 10 rivalry

Where were your fans? If this is suppose to be a top rivalry, how come it didn't draw more than the MCC? Just curious to know.

Most are prolly tired from partying it up the night before but hey, our NATIONWIDE audience more than makes up the difference. I'll take quality over quantity any day. :)

I find it kinda of funny that when the national media mentions the Bayou Classic as a great rivalry, the bands get more notoriety than the teams.

What does that say about the direction of the football program when the band overshadow the players?

I understand that, but this topic is about ATTENDING a rivalry game. The BC has a great atmosphere and I'm just wondering why are the attendance numbers down for this season?

Bands get more shine at HBCUs period. Our Athletic depts need to step their games up.

You go to JSU and you don't understand that?

That's funny coming from a school that the only time they can fill their stadium is when they play SU.

You think folks might just be coming to see both the BOTB's and the football game too?

Just curious.

I know that the majority of the fans come and see both, but to me, it seems like much of focus has been placed on the bands, stepshow and anything else that has to do with the game.

I know both fan bases are passionate about the game itself, but those who are not familiar with the Bayou Classic might think otherwise.

But hey, hats off to getting that game on NBC.

If it was JSU the focus would still be the bands. Ya'll aren't any different. Our HBCU bands are unique and the attention is much deserved. It's an added flavor to an already successful recipe.

I think the object is to promote both schools. Now whether a student or a donor picks *ram/SU for the game, band, jobfare, greek, aka, deltas. or whatever reason. Does it really matters?

Maybe, just maybe fans focus on the bands so much because the football is bad?

SWAC football as a whole is down but you don't have a valid point because our HBCU bands have been getting this type attention for well over 30 years. This ain't brand new. They're not making movies about HBCU bands because the football is bad.

Yeah, a movie was made because the football is bad.

I remember one of the last scenes of Drumline where the bands are lined up in the tunnel right before halftime starts, and then you see the football players walking past them and all the players are shorter than the band members. I'm like that makes no sense at all.

I've seen movies made about football teams, but never about an HBCU football team/lconference.

Even though some great players have come out of HBCUs, it seems like the teams are being ignored in terms of entertainment value.

Can we stay on one subject at a time? Now you were referring to the BC as being a bad quality game?

Grambling is the cream of the crop, and has been for decades, but when SWAC schools lose to D2 schools and get embarassed by other FCS schools, it quantifies as bad football.

But that's a whole 'nother topic for another day......carry on.

Somebody.........Anybody..........Get JROCK an umbrella: It's raining haters again!!! :emlaugh:
