Yep looks like my #1 complaint has been fixed. Looks like we also got some players with good ball handling skills too.

We got some size Juke. This just adds to it. Chris Hyder is going to be the smallest guy we have. May be the only one under 6 ft at 5"11. Now the key is these bigs playing well. Javon Mitchell returning in the paint is a positive. He will have help next season.

This is the lone signee that I am aware of...got this confirmation from a fellow HOG member. One kid but he's a good one!

Remond Brown of Richwood High (Monroe, La)

Brown has averaged 23 pts and 12 rebounds while at Richwood and was nominated as McDonald's All American. Brown was named to the All-District, All-Northeastern and All-State team three consecutive years. He was also selected to the East Team for the LHSAA All-Star game.

If you in the SWAC.... you are wasting your time signing alot of bigs.... this is a guard league... I cant recall a GREAT big in this league in the last 15 years. If you 6'9 and taller and coming to a SWAC school.... you simply arent THAT talented.

But what happen when you go against big schools with players with 5 or 6 players over 6'9 and you can't match with them? We have guards as well. Maybe not 80% of the roster but we have plenty.

then you see there is a HUGE disparity in a D1 big man and a SWAC big man.... we will never beat them inside... for us to upset them we have to be hitting from behind the arc.

 Dude trust me. The folks SU have can play. All of them :). SU bigs last season could play. Did you watch the Gonzaga game.

Why not have strong guards and quality big men as well. I think SU is right on target and doing the little things to move up to the next level. Banks is building a powerhouse and the SWAC had better take notice!

Why not get a variety of bigger bodies? When you have taller, longer players it allows you to do a lot more defensively ... even play that cowardly zone defense.

Besides, good guard play plus quality bigs (bigs that can defend and rebound, plus score a few points) = wins

I'm with Dahill....you better have some kick azz guards who can score when the officials foul the bigs out...TSU didn't have many bigs and they still won it all as they had 5-8 Omar Strong shooting the lights out and Ray Penn controlling the point. Basketball has gone the way of the guards from NBA on down....having a big team works at times when your matched up against big teams but when you enter these crazy SWAC matchups, guards control

More hate  . SU has so many quality big men, it's no way you can foul all of them out :) .

While I can agree with your point, I have a strong notion that coach Banks is looking at a "bigger picture" beyond simply winning the SWAC. Outside of hoping your perimeter players shoot lights out for 40 minutes, you simply won't be able to match up with the typical NCAA team without capable big men (i.e. SU vs. George Washington 1983 NCAA Tourney). That said, it looks as though coach Banks has targeted more athletic guards since bringing in Hyder and has continued that trend with the guards projected to be on the roster this fall.

My son coaches High school and AAU ball... he hates zones. The only one he'll use a little is the 1-2-2 and he traps out of that in the last 2 minutes of the 2nd quarter!

He wants all his SG to be 6'4 or taller. That is likely where New York and Glen Oaks will be. I don't know if Malcolm will come off the bench still I hope he does. C - Javan PG - Chris or Mike PF -?????? SG ???????? SF probably a transfer however our bench will be retarded.

now bruh.... I personally seen a 6'5 foward from AAMU dominate SU in the paint.... first game 20 points, 13 rebounds; second game...22 points, 7 rebounds, tournament game 14 points 15 rebounds and 5 blocks.....

now big guards is ALWAYS a plus... thats what was killing us with SU... the big guards who could shoot 3s.

Who won all three games :) . He got off because a 6'10" was guarding him, that wasn't that athletic. SU has signed some really athletic bigs, that won't happen in the future. But outside the conference, where they won't let the 6'5" get away with all the fouling, like they do against SU bigs, what's going to happen. Look at how competitive SU was OC. The bigs were the reason for that. Banks is building to make a run in the NCAA tournament.

SU played George Washington in 93 in the 2nd round.

Have plenty more of them. All our SGs are 6'4 or taller. 85% of our bigs can step out and shoot the 3 as well. :read:
