Barry Bonds . . countdown to history

Dude 3 out of the top 5 have been Champs though (Yankees, Braves, Red Sox) and Detroit had a chance to be the Champs.

I'm gonna say it like this. I'm not saying he did Steroids and I'm not saying he didn't do steroids. All I'm saying is that there is NO EVIDENCE. Blood samples of his from Balco was negative. Pee tests were negative. Multiple athletes were given up by Anderson and Conte in addition to blood samples from balco being negative. I unlike most these days believe in innocent until proven guilty and that has yet to be proven.

Innocent until proven guilty only applies in a court of law.

I'm not a judge or juror which means I can come to my own conclusions based on what I've read, heard people say and through research and just plain common sense.

Hey, I don't hate Barry Bonds. I want him to hit 756. My only issue is that Bonds knows more than he is willing to reveal at this point. That is my only gripe.

That's the same way I feel

If baseball has been corrupt how come the Cubs have not won the World Series in 99 years? The Cubs are the second most popular team in sports after the Yankees. Don't you know how high the ratings would be if the Cubs were in the World Series?

If baseball you believe that baseball is corrupt, why is it so hard to believe that Barry Bonds took performance enhancing drugs?

What does the Cubs not winning the World Series have to do with baseball not being corrupt???? The individual players in the game make it corrupt, from betting on baseball, pine tar, corked bats, scuffing balls, stealing signs, spit balls, and multitudes of other things. It's just funny that a sport built on deception is so hypocritical and self-righteous. I bet the reporters would have a caniption fit if Roger Clemens or Lance Armstrong were found to be doping.

Right!!!! They have about as much on Barry as they did on Lance Armstrong and they look up to him as a hero (Disclaimer: I'm not accusing Armstrong of doping).

Dude, you have fallen on your damn head. So you going on hear say? When word of Bonds abusing streiods was first report. The MLB conducted random test on Bonds. Every time they came back negative. I still think they are going on but it's on the hush hush.

The media is trying to destory Bonds (including you). And if they try to put an * next to his name....they better add one to Rogers,A-Rod,Glanville and the rest of those mofo. Also, included the white sox on that list.

I'm not going on hearsay. I'm going on from what I hear from MLB scouts, players, doctors and research. Bonds is the only player in the Top 3 on the HR list whose power numbers took a drastic jump after 35-years-old. No other MLB in history had his numbers jump that fast in their mid-30s.

You would start to see a decline, but Bonds numbers actually were better than they were in the mid-90s.

No one is trying to destroy Bonds. All we want is the truth. Bonds knows more than he lets on.

Man, MLB placed an asterisk next to Roger Maris' name after he hit 61 because he did in 161 games instead of 154 like Ruth did. That was dumb.

I don't think there should be an asterisk next to Bonds, McGwire, Sosa or anyone else who played in the last 15 years. All those guys are HOFers. It's just that some guys lied about taking drugs and were caught. I don't vote for the HOF--but one day I hope to.

Some, like Bonds, said they took stuff they thought was something else. I find it hard to believe that you would take something and not ask about it from a convicted steroid dealer who gave the same stuff to his own teammates.

It's funny how you put a twisted on your answer. Why can't no one understand that exercise and a good diet will keep you going strong. Lets look at 40 plus in the league...hell any league. One name come to my mind quick is Kevin Willis. Yeah he a role player/bench warmer but hell he still have to practice.

Roger Maris was the Bonds of that era. HE could give a flying fugg about the media. So they turned on him. If you want to know the truth....

Take a cup and asked bonds to piss in it. Then you can take it and have it tested.

You are going to compare Barry Bonds to Kevin Willis? There are a bunch of 40-year-olds that are big and strong, but not too many athletes in their 40s are regarded as one of the premier players their sport. No athlete in any major pro sport has been better in their late 30s like Bonds--not even Jordan.

I wish I could ask Bonds that, but I fear he might headbutt me and I end up in a coma  Just kidding. But tyour argument is lame.

yeah I compared bonds to Willis.

baseball is not a physical sports. everyone knows bonds should not be playing now. He is in there to break the record and finish the season. Next year he will come back and play little.

And...is Frank Thomas on the stuff?

The NBA is not physical either. It's a difference between 162 games than playing 82 games. That's why guys take stuff. The season is so long. You can't play that many games for 20+ years without taking uppers or some other stimulants. Baseball is physically and mentally draining especially playing during the summer months.

You don't hear former NBA players say they had to take greenies just to get through the grind of the NBA season.

Frank Thomas? I don't know. Like I said, it's hard to rule anyone out at this point. But Frank is just fat now.

What do "we" want is the truth? If he has done it, why would he come out and say he's done roids? If it were you and they didn't have any proof you would volunteer info and take the risk of being prosecuted and ridiculed even more? Plus there's no way in hell he's doing in now so its best to leave it in the pass. Honestly, I really don't think the public needs to know the truth about steroids in MLB. Bud should feel the same way...I'm telling you, there's a lot more to do with steroids and MLB than we all know. What if we found out that Griffey, A-rod, and other players that are loved in America? Baseball will be in trouble and never be the same. They'd be worse off than after the 94 strike.

Your confusing me with your arguments and now your saying they are HOFers even though you believe they were on roids. Would you vote for Pete Rose? I wouldn't want Mcgwire in the hall of fame. He did nothing but hit 563 HRs with a BA of .263 and only hit over .300 in a full season in his career once. Plus, he was just as much of an A hole as Bonds to the media when he was in oakland. And he used roids (Andro)

Some, like Bonds, said they took stuff they thought was something else. I find it hard to believe that you would take something and not ask about it from a convicted steroid dealer who gave the same stuff to his own teammates.

Guilty by association, huh? That does not sound like research, interviews and all that other stuff your talking about. That just sounds like Guilty by association.

Newboy,

I don't think baseball will die anytime soon if it is found out Griffey, A-Rod or Chipper Jones were on steriods. There has been a cloud of suspicion for a few years now and baseball is shattering attendance records and TV ratings.

People thought the same thing when the White Sox threw the 1919 World Series. But people came back. They came back after work stoppages as well in the modern era. Baseball can't die. It might take a little bit of hit, but it won't die.

Yes, I would vote for Pete Rose and the modern players who are involved in steroid suspicion because I know the HOF has plenty of guys who were not Angels--I'm not talking about the Los Angeles Orange County Anaheim Missionary Baptists Angels either. You got guys in the hall that range from racists to womanizers.

But if you say you did/didn't do something and lie about that bothers me. That's why I have been a little jaded when it comes to Bonds considering the other indivduals were distained for the same thing. I don't have anything against Bonds personally, I like watching him play. But something just ain't right to me.

Just because something doesn't seem right that doesn't mean it ain't right. The people are gonna see that eventually.

What's really sad is the fact that before Bonds came this close to breaking the record all of the media and the historians acted like Hank Aaron was just another ni99a but now he's the king. At the Atlanta Braves game a little white boy had on a Hank Aaron jersey with a sign that said Hank is my hero. Before this 755 was nothing compared to Babe's 714 and now they're showing all of Hank's stats and everything........it's sad and Hank is sad for going along with it.

You are not guilty without facts. No negative blood tests, no negative pee tests, Conte and Anderson gave up a load of others but deny supplying Barry with anything. Leave it alone. If no facts come out but Bonds really did it then God will be the judge.

Wow... the NBA is much more physically challenging than baseball. Dudes run 5-7 miles during a game PLUS they run into each other, hit each other, etc.

Each sport requires different skills and ablities. Yes, baseball is not physical like football or maybe even basketball. But you can't say playing professional baseball is not demanding on the body considering players get less off days, travel more and play almost every day for 7 straight months--that's if you don't include Spring Training and the postseason. That's almost 200 games in one year.

Even if an NBA team goes to the Finals and plays a 7-game series they still won't play as many games as baseball players do. It's one thing to run up and down a court in an climate controlled environment from October to June with more than one off day.

But when you start your exhibition season in Arizona or Florida, then play some regular season games in the snow, then heat and cool weather in October. It's very demanding.
