This is Highlights of his record, a resume of sorts
Nothing about his plans as president.

You won't get detailed plans this early. One thing to remember is every plan is contingent on GAO estimates. We're two full years from inagurating the new President. With so much time until then, it would be irresponsible for any candidate to give detailed plans this early. What you should be looking for now is his overall ideals, goals, what he stands for, etc. He shouldn't be too specific because he has to stay flexible. We don't know what the world will look like in 2 years.

ok this makes sense I agree

I can tell some of you don't read. I posted the link to his stance on some issues but you have not read them.

Kema as an Independent I like Obama; yet my feelings are in red.

Strengthening America Overseas-this would conflict with soldiers in "strategic" locations.

Plan to End the Iraq War-I agree. It's time to allow Iraq to sort their issues out. Those Iraqis who are in powere are there soley because our soldiers are killed everyday.

Cleaning Up Washington's Culture of Corruption-Oxymoron. Will never happen.

Meeting America's Energy Needs-Too late. I'm glad I will be dead and gone when HITS really hits the fan.

Honoring Our Veterans-This goes deeper than the ordinary public wants to go. Plus to truly do this taxes would have to be raised. It's more than just a day or a flag. Benefits. I have also heard veterans who were forced out of the military because of an injury. Many wanted to stay in a HQ clerical role.

Improving Our Schools-Another required tax increase. Point blank our teachers are not paid enough and I have long disagreed with the private school system. There should be an even playing field for ALL kids.

Creating a Healthcare System that Works-Yet, another tax increase. Unless this country is ready for universal health care, this is not going to happen.

Protecting Our Homeland-Another tax increase. Kenn doesn't have enough bandwidth(sp) for me to go in to this subject but I will try. One primary problem is the U.S. treats foreigners who do a crime better than our citizens. They treat them as if they are citizens, yet when we do a crime in another country it's our ARSE. I am also in agreement with closed borders.

Strengthening Families and Communities-in a word..rascism. As long as it exist the family and community structure will be weak.

Protecting the Right to Vote-Yea cause in 25 years or so some other President has to sign the voting rights act which is dumb as hell to me. We jumped around all happy when Bush signed it; yet where was the outrage at our black leaders not adding amendment to the constitution.

Reconciling Faith and Politics-this is a tough one

This is what I was talking about when I said "nothing Concrete" MsJag.
All those "activities" has to be shaped POLICY his ADM would be following.

I can look at all the "resume's" in the world but it still won't tell me exactly what he will try to do as PRESIDENT until he LAY OUT HIS PLAN and then take it on the road for public approval.

I got the chance to meet Rev Al Sharpton on my flight to New Orleans last Wednesday night. We were both in first class. I didn't get to ask any questions, like I was dying too, but from his conversation he thought very highly of Barack!

I don't believe all of that is tax increases! Where in the hell did Bush get all that money to fund the war? One year of the funding for the War would cover all those programs with money left over. :what:

DSN is right about taxes. Most Democratic candidates have said they'll repeal the Bush tax cut on the wealthiest Americans as a way of lowering the deficit and addressing Healthcare. They'll sell it to the public by packaging the increase with minor decreases for Middle income Americans along with increased tax credits for childcare, tuition, etc.

Overall, the key for Obama will be his ability to capture voters who don't necessarily agree with him on the issues. In other words, getting people to vote for him because they like him personally - without regards to the issues. Bush had this trait in 2000 - that's the only reason he was able to come withing a Million votes of Al Gore. Reagan had it as well. Right now the only candidate that has that characteristic this year is Obama and to a lesser extent, Edwards. McCain used to have it but not anymore.

I see you are believing the hype. My only concern is him appealing to the "red" state white people. If Ford would have won in TN, I think that Obama would have a legitimate chance. I know how those mid to east TN people are. But I was told that Memphis let Ford down because of lack of turn out. Obama's true appeal is that he is the real american dream and folks are eating it up. He's not microwave nor a "rock star". He's put in work at the grass roots level in the inner city so he has the ability to unite the country. Make your decision on what you see from him, not on what the media interprets. We and the counrty can't afford to be simple with the current state of affairs. The brilliance of the dude is that his dirt was out there before he put his hat in the ring. Just read his books. His only draw back with his campaign is that he has a "real" black intelligent wife. She ain't light skin-ded or a redbone (that's what some people call it :smh: , slavery I tells ya is still hear). You know thats not pallitable to the majority.

Yea, great post northen...the afforemention in bold to me is his strongest assest as far as blacks are concerned. He's more authentic because of that.

I'm all for obama. I just hope he and hillary don't cancel each other out!

As nice as it would be to have a black president I still dont see it happening in 08. If it came down to the first black man and the first woman if I had to bet on it i'd say Hillary would take it.

Wow!

26 people would give money to Barack's Campaign which he needs now to be considered seriously later!

17 people would NOT give money to his campaign.

6 of you don't know yet. Hmmmm!

I might become a fundraiser for his campaign, and if so I might call on you 26 people! :wavey:

Northern Tiger: :o Thanks!

For those who would not give to his campaign, what would you need from Obama to be swayed?

I totally agree with you. It way to early in the game now to show you hand now. Giving that he is a brother with high integrity and morals I believe I would be foolish not to look at him before I look at the mane.

MJ is down for the cause. I just volunteered to work for him in North Carolina. I am in the process of changing my voters card from Florida to NC.

You sho' nuff' on point with these. As Chris Matthews said "Black folks will vote for white candidates, but white folks won't vote for blacks." This is especially true for the only "national" election. Folks out in the "heartlands", on "the farms", etc., will need some serious convincing to vote for him. And some will not, period.

But even with that, I think he has a better chance than Hillary. She really shouldn't run.

Regards.

Black lawmakers in S. Carolina say's NOT.

"Obama would spell DOOM for the DEMO's" say's S.C Black lawmakers

:shame:

State Sens. Robert Ford and Darrell Jackson told The Associated Press they believe Clinton is the only Democrat who can win the presidency. Both said they had been courted by Illinois Sen. Barack Obama; Ford said Obama winning the primary would drag down the rest of the party.

?Then everybody else on the ballot is doomed,? Ford said. ?Every Democratic candidate running on that ticket would lose because he?s black and he?s at the top of the ticket ? we?d lose the House, the Senate and the governors and everything.?

But Hillary............HILLARY CLINTON is what they call a sure bet for the rest of the people on the ballot.:retard:
Here we go...............................:retard:

People worried bout the people in the heartland better start worring bout the people in Brother/Sista land. :shame:

Stag,

There are aways "Spooks who sit by the door." They lament, bemoan, and are negative on any instance when a black challenges or steps out of the "norm." Ask Martin Luther King or any black who stepped out of and/or challenged the status quo.

Always have been, always will be.

But they are entitled to their opinion. My only hope is that don't work (consciously or sub-consciously) to make their concern a reality.

Regards.

So is anyone thats black and wouldnt vote for him considered to be a "spook"?
