Re: 2012 Sonic Boom of The South!

Dowell Taylor is back for real. You can already hear the difference. Gone be interesting. I see he done pulled out Back in Stride from 1985.

Ha!! Yeah, homey. I wonder if he's dusted-off any other oldies.. We drilled to that cut, humped the hell outta those 'floating chevrons'...... I know it's just summer camp, but I see he's putting his stamp on the band already...

:D:D

We took that isht like Debo from Friday and did it so well Grambling can't even do it anymore, lol! Not sure where he got the Southern percussion comparison from though. Two different percussion styles and sounds.

The sad part is you all really believe the Sorry Boom sounds good. You all are nothing but a big monkey, jumping around slaw band. JSU has never had a good sound, your marching stlye is horrible with no type of style to it, your drum majors move like faggots on peachtree rd pop locking, and your technique on the field is beyond sad.

Re: 2012 Sonic Boom of The South!

That was the worst sound ever. Sounds like shyt on a farm after a cow eating two dozen bails of hay.

And then he posted a band camp video as an example. I don't think they've even handed out uniforms yet, lol! A video from band camp. Hey, had anyone posted any A&M band camp clips on youtube. Or does no one give a shit band camp or otherwise, lol!

In my Allen Iverson voice,......we talking bout practice......practice man.......a week or so into band camp practice too, lol!

Re: 2012 Sonic Boom of The South!

Truth be told JSU, SU, & Bama St. to me has been the top bands for the previous years. However, some are improving and we steady need to improve instead of downing another program period. Dr. Murry has come to Alcorn and it has been wonderful. He has installed pride and everything back into the program. He is doing a darn good job and I look forward to seeing them this year. If we all got our stuff together then we wouldnt care what others say. For my school, keep up the stride for betterment of the band.

No thank yal. Yal lost and our gain. Dr. Murry is a darn good band director as well as person. He wants and he is getting the best from the kids at Alcorn. I hope yal are ready when yal see them cause I promise you you will be in for a big surprise. We are going make that bus ride back to jackson a miserable one after leaving the Reservation. On the real, JSU better be ready for SU cause as things are now, yal are the size yal were last year or the previous. I dont down talk anyone program cause we all are musicians and we all work hard. Just be ready!!!!

I think my frat bruh and fellow C'way alum will do fine at Alcorn. It's his alma mater so it is probably a better fit for him than JSU. I also see he hired him a young Psi bruh from SU that is going to be one of his arrangers. I hear this dude is the truth. So I expect to see a lot of improvement from the Corn. Good luck to yall. Should be interesting in the SWAC this year. Taylor back at JSU, SU being SU, PV with a Juke in charge as band director, and everyone else getting better hopefully. Good to see some new blood at the SWAC schools.

Things are going very well at Alcorn and the band is bigger this year. I hope to see them perform this weekend on the yard. If I am able to, I will make sure I get some clips.

Two different styles???? You have the EXACT same shyt! Didn't an alum from SU come as a percussion instructor at JSU? But I don't know my band lol. Wow, ninjas get online and get brand new.

Yes two different styles. Neither percussion sections sounds alike, they don't tune their instruments the same, and their arrangements within the band music is totally different. SU does not use quads or quints, and typically their percussion section is smaller. Pops Duplessis came from SU, correct, and was director in charge of WT, but Duplessis did not create that style which was largely in place when he got there. The next thing I guess you'll give Paul Adams for credit for JSU's sound cause he was from SU, never mind Davis, Taylor, Haughton, Holden, Gregory, etc was already there before him.

And why you ninjas supposedly know so much about Boom history and willing to tell us......I couldn't tell you nor have any desire to know A&M current or past directors, lol! I can't name one of em. Never even heard the name of the director when I was in the Boom, lol! It was of no concern. And you know not only who the director is, but the percussion director going back to the mid 70's and who created our style, according to you. I think that's pretty telling.

Truth is... AAMU is a non-factor in the band world. *shrug* sorry. Dang, i'd forgotten about them doing Rock the House.... *shameful*.... JSU didn't steal Rock the House... We rescued it.
