Bama State vs GSU AND A&M vs JSU Football . . .

Dont change the subject Mach.

I not getting into another ATTENDANCE battle with you peeps. I was at the Swac Championship games. GRAMBLING BROUGHT NOBODY 3 YEARS IN A ROW.

Read what I typed....not what you THINK I TYPED. I stated that the type of attendance GRAMBLING brought SCARES SPONSORS.
Mike Bigg has NO ROOM to trash our attendance with the poor attendance I have PERSONALLY witnessed.

PERIOD.

_ _ _!!
_ _ _DER!!
_ _ _ DEST!!!

No, I dont think that Mach. What I KNOW is that POOR ATTENDANCE gives POTENTIAL sponsors the luxury of opting to "pass over" the championship game in search of a wiser investment.

Gsu has been there 3 years. Each year one side has been basically full....and the other side basically empty. (many fans of the opposite school sat on Gsu's side cause the seats were too good to pass up) That's all Im saying.

I'm not trying to bash Alabama State or AAMU but our fans who are on the road are not necessarily the same fans who attend the GSU home games. I attended the Alcorn and Langston games and they were undercounted. The stadium was full for the Alcorn game and was 3/4 full for Langston. The JSU game and Bama State were both sell outs so our home attendance this year was good...could have been better but still okay.

Some of our local fans travel but usually the folk who come to see GSU play or may not be Grambling fans. However because of the name, Doug Williams and the winning records, fans come out to cheer for us or even to cheer against us. We are a big game on everyone's schedule because of our reputation. That's not brag, that's fact. Despite the Rivalry that TxSU has with PV, the rivalry between JSU and SU, the rivalry between Alcorn and SU and even the rivalry between you two Bamians, the team that all of yall love to beat is Grambling. You may not want to admit it, but in your heart of hearts you know that beating Grambling gives you more satisfaction than anything. The reason being, we are the standard against which all other HBCU football programs are measured.

So whether it occurred to you our not, the attendance (even of Alabama State fans) will increase simply to cheer against Grambling. As I stated, you shouldn't be so unappreciative...

...The three(3) years that Grambling attended had the following:
2000- 34,687
2001- 38,487
2002- 23,727

...Now, out of all these years(I was in attendance, also) you are trying to say that Grambling brought "nobody"..."L" if that was the case, I could say that the folks on A&M and State's side were all from Birmingham and not from the schools(how realistic does that sound????)

...MikeB has every right to trash your attendance...bad count or not, the "home" attendance at Grambling was better than both of the Bamian schools...you can't dispute that "fact"!!!!!!

...Dear Crab,

....Before you post please have your facts in order...The "ICON" is normally called(to an initial Classic) because of the aforementioned reasons given by fellow Cartel member MikeB.

...For your information and understanding we played in the Vanguard Classic in Portland, Oregon to a crowd of 16,723 in 2001....when Portland State scheduled N.C. A&T(2002) the attendance went to 10,012...as you can see GRAMBLING draws a larger crowd and the name itself is the reason why most new Classics want the "ICON"...Grambling sets the standard for other HBCU's to follow...you can take that to the bank and cash it!!!!

...MikeB...you should have "started" and "finished" after the above sentence...these Bamians are getting worse and worse every year about the attendance isht...they don't follow their respective teams out of the state of Alabama and want to get on here to talk attendance smack...the "only" game they attend that has greater than 40k is the MCC(and don't go claiming the CCC)!!

 ....they are soooo sad!!!

Obviously some of you lack the ability to comprehend threads.

The attendance stuff started from MB. I, in return, simply pointed out that Grambling's POOR attendance at the past 3 Swac Championship games gave him no room to talk about attendance numbers.

Next.....here comes MACH with seasonal figures and totals (from HALF A SEASON) that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Gsu's empty side of the staduim 3 consecutive years.

Next....here comes G-Que wanting to DEBATE about attendance.

Read my lips: Grambling's fan participation in the past 3 swac games was AWFUL. If you cant' accept that.......there is no need to discuss this issue further. The Grambling fans were either in attendance, or they were not. They were not. No hate here. Just facts.

All your stats and percentages cannot change that.

..Hey Biff..maybe you need to enroll in Reality Check 101...that statement you made is utterly ridiculous...I'm thru with it!!!!!!

Cool. Gsu's stint is over anyhow. Congratulations on winning back 2 back 2 back. You guys over achieved this season. You wont be in Bham in 2003 though. Southern and Alabama State will play for the Swac title at SCG5.

Dont laugh......just watch.

This sounds like a great idea. To break away from all the SMACK that has developed from this thread....i think for the most part ATLians will come to support the SWAC period. While lGrambling probably won't BRING alot of fans, they will have some folks from the ATL pulling for them...because more folx there have probably heard of Grambling than Alabama State....just being real about it. Now WE will bring our own bulk of fans, plus those that will come to see JSU, not to mention our strong alumni presence in Atlanta. To be realistic the 2 bama schools might have the least peeps show up...but i think it will all balance off with the general public just coming to support whoever. All in all it sounds like a big winner for the SWAC....it must be done right though. I hope the promoter can get the job done. This could be huge.

Are you as stupid as you post???

Can all of you guys just take a deep breath, and get back to the subject of this post?

Thanks.

The idea sounds like a good one!!!! I just hope that the promoter has enough money to pull it off. Because it's gunna take some $$$s to bring Grambling's band and the Boom to Atlanta, along with Annie Mae and Annie Sue. But it would be a killer weekend in the ATL. Especially if you had a band 'jamboree' between the two games.

But I think the tickets would be expensive. But I'd pay $50 bucks for a ticket to both games.

But I won't comment on the logistics surrounding the game. Good idea, though......

I don't even know where to begin with this.

I can't believe you actually said that. :smh: Are you saying that JSU has a larger alumni presence or fan base in ATL than AAMU? Naw, you couldn't be implying that.

Dude, you really need to get a grip on reality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An ASU game in Atlanta would bring out a whole lot of ASU folks. (probably larger than any of the schools listed) Big Alumni presence here and Montgomery is closer than any of the other cities. I can remember two ASU games in Atlanta (against JSu and Gram) both had big ASU followings.

btw, for you to say that Gram would have more than ASU or AAMU is downright pathetic. They won't show up for a championship game, but now you think they'll show up for a regular season game, even further from their campus than the SCG>

ummmmmmm I saw Gram in Atlanta a couple of months ago. I'll be kind and say that maybe 400 folks from Gram showed up.

Keep it real NoiseTalka!

SOMEBODY'S BEEN HITTING THE NOG EARLY THIS YEAR. YOU PEOPLE STILL SEEM TO THINK, FOR SOME ODD REASON THAT THE ICON'S FAN BASE IS JUST IN GRAMBLING. I GUESS YOU HAVE TO CLING TO SOMETHING. YOU KNOW HOW FAR BAMA ST. IS DOWN ON THE LIST WHEN IT COMES TO NAME RECOGNITION AMONG HBCU'S.

Not trying to change the subject or anything, but what does name recognition have to do with your fans "travel prowess" (or lack thereof) to ATL?

Many people may "recognize" the Grambling name in Atlanta...but that doesn't mean that you'll gain a traveling following from that. :p

Hell...PRARIE VIEW was recognized nationally, too....but folks weren't turning out in droves to see them play!

That's true.

Is it also true that you're grossly outnumbered at the Bayou Classic?

And I know it's true that you have no fans at the SCG.

but I forgot, yall are from a small town though.
