I have told yall 1 billion times about them uppities. Yall don't listen. heck we got them on this board and reading it right now.

I know Lioness. Most of our black institutions suffers from this problem.

That may be true but, no smack, Alabama State has been the worst school in the SWAC for a long time when it comes to handling affairs. I hope you all thrive but everytime someone tells me something good about ASU, I have always wait for the shoe to drop. I am not even an alum there and I have NO faith in that school. All this talk of a new stadium and I am waiting on some schitt to hit the fan about it. It may not but I ain't buying that anything good happens at ASU without something shady being behind it. PERIOD!

One Day, The Truth Shall Be Exposed.

As I sit here typing this post, my Thoughts and Prayers are with Dr. Silver and His Family. May God Bless You Dr. Silver In This Time of Tragedy....

But as a sit here and post, I also think about the situation that has transpired at Alabama State University concerning Dr. Silver. Then I think that nearly every HBCU has this same problem. Why, Oh Why, Can't HBCUs get it right? Why must there be Drama around every single corner? Why is it that we must rely on the Good-Ole Boy System and as Senior TSPNSports Forum Poster CeeDog calls them, "The Uppity Folks?".

The Truth Of the Matter is that Some Individuals Are Never To Going To Go Forward. They Believe That All Because You Question Right From Wrong That You Are Automatically Wrong or not "Black" Enough. These individuals represent the 53% of Mitt Romney. I and others, on the other hand, are viewed as the 47% Who Know Nothing About What Goes On Yet We See The Consequences in Person of what has transpired at our HBCUs. I am Proud that I am an African-American in the United States. But when I see something is wrong, I feel obligated to question why it is wrong and how we find a solution to ultimately right the wrong.

To You 53% who are the "Uppity Folks, One Day The Truth Shall Be Exposed. I May Be Dead and Gone but as God Himself Hears My Voice Through These Words I Type, You Will Be Exposed For Your Wrongdoing. You Have destroyed Our HBCU Culture and Ability to Prosper with Your Selfish and Self-Righteous Ways.

The 47% Spoke Loudly in This Year's Presidential Election. The 47% Will Be Heard Throughout HBCUs One Day. HBCUs Will Prosper. It Will Be A Long Time Coming, But We Will Prosper...One Day.

Alabama State University’s board of trustees will meet Fri*day to fire embattled president Joseph Silver, according to an email sent from one trustee to the board chairman that was ob*tained by the Montgomery Ad*vertiser .

In the letter to chairman El*ton Dean, trustee Kathy Sawyer states she has received a notice from fellow trustee Marvin Wiggins outlining the potential causes for termination of Silver, who is on paid administrative leave, and she asks Dean to de*lay the meeting, which is set for Friday at 2:30 p.m.

“I have also received from Trustee Wiggins a draft letter outlining the issues relative to termination of President Sil*ver,” Sawyer wrote Monday in an email to Dean. “It appears from reading the draft letter, the full Board has already de*cided to terminate President Silver and the only issue to dis*cuss and decide is whether the termination is ‘for cause’ or ‘no cause.’” ASU officially closed for the holidays Tuesday evening at 5 and won’t open again until Jan. 2. Students, who have protested numerous times to keep Silver, have been out of classes since last Friday.

The letter, which was sent by Sawyer to each trustee, also found its way to the ASU faculty senate.

Students, who have protested numerous times to keep Silver, have been out of classes since last Friday.

The letter, which was sent by Sawyer to each trustee, also found its way to the ASU faculty senate.

Silver has been on leave since Nov. 26, when the execu*tive committee of the board took that action in an emergen*cy meeting. Immediately fol*lowing that meeting, Silver claimed he was being punished for questioning several contracts currently in place at ASU that didn’t benefit the school.

A few days later, the full board upheld that action, but with Gov. Robert Bentley in attendance and numerous students protesting the actions against Silver, it elected not to take further action that day on Silver’s employment status. Despite numerous requests by the Advertiser , ASU and trustees have declined to offer an explanation for Silver’s removal from office. Messages left Tuesday for Dean received no response.

“I think they know there is no reason for me to step down other than the fact that I have raised a few questions about how resources are spent here, and it is not all for students,” Silver said on Nov. 26.

Silver has declined to provide information related to his claims.

The board approved a full audit of all contracts, and Bentley has since ordered a forensic audit to be conducted by a separate firm from Birmingham.

In her letter, Sawyer questions why the board members would take any action prior to those audits being conducted.

“I would strongly urge the Board to postpone any meeting intended to address President’s (sic) Silver’s status as president at this time; at a minimum, delay decision until the investigations have been completed and the findings made public,” Sawyer wrote. “I can see no good to come from the Board’s haste to make a final decision at this time. It is my opinion, that this situation has gotten out of control and is now being driven by emotions and personal feelings of some involved. However, as a board, we are charged and expected to carry out a public duty to govern this University in a professional, transparent and respectful manner.”

This is just low down and dirty. Firing the man for what? For uncovering possible fraud? Where's the due process? Why not allow the man to defend himself before firing him? What's Bama State trying to hide?

Additionally, Bama State officials didn't seem to want any fallout from the student body, so they waited until school was out to fire the man, and just before school officials are out for the holidays so there won't be anyone available for questioning. Sounds cowardly to me.

At least Bama State students seem to have a sense of what's right and wrong. Where's justice when you need it?

Joe Reed, is that you?

Yes thats me...

Sports marketing firm files suit against ASU

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama State University faces a breach of contract lawsuit from a sports consulting company. Innovation Sports and Entertainment claims it had an agreement with ASU to market and sell sponsorship rights for the new ASU stadium and other athletic interests. In the lawsuit, the group said ASU canceled the agreement without cause.

In response filed in Montgomery County Circuit Court on Monday, attorneys for the university denied all of the charges made by Innovation Sports and Entertainment and denied a valid contract was ever in place.

The Pittsburgh-based firm – then known as GSP Consulting - said after it signed the contract in April 2011, it began work on a wide range of marketing services for ASU Athletics. WSFA 12 News found GSP was paid more than $124,000 for work up until December 2011, the last date for which those numbers were available.

Sources tell WSFA 12 News GSP identified $14 million in potential revenues from not only the stadium but also ASU's other athletic facilities. Sources also said there was some concern among university officials that GSP wasn't moving fast enough to satisfy the agreement.

GSP claims that wasn't the case: it had already begun the process of selling suites, loges and season tickets, and also looking into potential naming rights for the new stadium.

In April 2012, the university terminated the contract. In its lawsuit which was filed in November, GSP said the university breached the contract without cause. GSP claims ASU never told the company that it had any objections to its plans or its progress in implementing them.

Innovation Sports and Entertainment claims the termination caused the company harm and that ASU owes it additional compensation and commissions.

Attorneys for ASU claim the contract was null and void in Alabama. They claim even if the contract was valid, it was properly terminated for non-performance.

An official with Innovation Sports and Entertainment told WSFA 12 News the company sought to settle the dispute for months before filing suit. It is seeking unspecified damages and court costs.

Wow!!!! $685k until 2014. The curse of Joe Reed.

Dr. Silver wasn't no fool. He knew something and it took $685k to keep him quiet and go away. It seems like the Governor is in on what is going on at ASU. This mess goes beyond the Board.

Contract. He's already said what he thought he knew but produced no evidence to support his allegations. It was a power struggle. Silver made the mistake of thinking he was in charge of the university. He was not properly vetted. He had similar problems at Savannah ST and Clark Atlanta.

The kids on twitter going crazy. They're pissed. (Rightfully so)

#myasu <----- let's you know how the students feel about this

This is awful :smh:

why don't more people without any political interest get involved and expose ASU?

A forensic audit is ongoing and will uncover any malfeasance. All Board of Trustees in Alabama public institutions have similar issues because they are appointed and confirmed because of their political connections.
