Senate Candidate #7
It'll be a green Christmas for the mother of Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' youngest son - the hip-hop honcho has agreed to pay her more than $4.5 million in child support, The Post has learned.

Lawyers for Combs and model Kim Porter were in Manhattan Family Court yesterday, where they told hearing examiner David Kirshblum they had struck a deal to end their child-support spat over 3-year-old Christian.
"I believe the matter is settled," Porter lawyer Suzanne Kimberly Bracker told Kirshblum. "We have a gentlemen's agreement."

Combs lawyer Eleanor Grosz said both sides should "be commended" because "they put the child's interest ahead of everything else."

The terms of the settlement, expected to be signed tomorrow, are confidential, but a source close to the case said Porter will get a lump $150,000 sum, plus another $20,000 a month until Christian turns 21.

Combs will also pay college and insurance costs, and Porter's legal fees, the source said.

He has also taken out a $2 million life-insurance policy on himself payable to Christian, the source said.

The deal is a big win for Porter - it's almost double what Combs was offering in earlier settlement talks, and also does away with a confidentiality clause that could have cost Porter $50,000 any time she spoke publicly about his private life.

Despite a directive from Kirshblum, the Bad Boy Records boss wasn't in court for the hearing.

Asked why her client was absent, Grosz said Combs was en route from Las Vegas, where he had performed at the Billboard Music Awards.

"We'll be back here in March to settle it officially" and get it court-ordered, a beaming Porter said afterward. She said their son is a "beautiful baby.

Makes no sense

I heard about this crap on the radio! When did it start taking 20,000 dollars( a month) to raise a child. My children must be on welfare. I really think the laws needs need to be revamped on this matter. :redhot: So this guy is rich....it doesn't make it right!

Miami Jag,

The laws regarding child support are fair. Child support is based upon the INCOME of the parents. Your children are not on welfare because you make, you don't spend $20,000.00 a month on them because you don't make millions of dollars. ME EITHER!:D

It is very right for that child to get that award because his father is rich. If the child lived with him he would be enjoying the same lifestyle that his father enjoys, right? Puffy lives large and so do his children.

I was in court when Mystikal (or however you spell it) was there for a child support case and when the Judge ordered $2,500 a month he jumped up and said THANK YOU JESUS! and left. His attorney said he could have been paying much more. That same morning a guy was ordered to pay $1,000,000 in arrearages (past due child support) and $6,500 a month for two children.

That's the way it goes...you lay, you pay!

SS,

You raise some going points, however if a (rich) father really loves his kid, he will make sure they have that type of lifesystle regardless. Can you honestly believe that this type of money is necessary to raise children. I am sure most of us work with a smaller budget and we still manage to spoil our kids as well as put them in private school. I have friends who barely making ends meet because of unreasonable child support payments and they are good brothers. SS take your legal hat off for a minute and think about it..............

Okay, I will put on my hat that has "2nd Wife" written on it and YES it is unfair as hell if an order of child support is so large that you can't make ends meet. I know there are guys who are good men, good fathers and they are stuck with an amount that is unreasonable. Those brothers need to seek a reduction based upon a change of circumstances. oops there goes that lawyer hate again! :D No child support payment should bankrupt a parent and that should be challenged.

I still think that child support should be assessed at an amount based upon the parents' incomes. The more money I make the bigger the house, the more expensive the clothes, the more frequent the vacations, the more "stuff" I can buy, etc. and my child will of course be the benefactor of that.

I am working on a contested paternity case right now and the father is my client and he is the one who sued for custody, visitation, paternity (momma's baby, daddy's maybe you know the drill). Although he wanted all of this, his dayum knees almost buckled when the Judge set child support at $950. He is in six figures and oh girl makes only $24,000.00.

All I could tell him is what I said earlier, ya lay, ya pay!:bawling:

I don't feel all that sorry for a brother ...

They take a percentage of your salary. If he makes that much money, that is what he should be paying, even though ain't no way in the HELL it costs 20 grand a month to raise a child ... I ain't mad at her ...

Man, that's some expensive arse puddin'!!!

Yeah, but he wanted to be up in there. They didn't say nothing about a gun.

I wonder if it was as good to him then as it will be to her now?;)

GOT CHEDDAR?

She betta be careful...

All I know is she betta not ever ride in a car or be in a caravan with Puffy. Ya'll know what happend to the last couple of folks that rode in his entourage. Ole girl betta invest some of that money in some KEVLAR.

I am convinced that a lot of the logic involved in coming up with the child support laws are designed to punish a man for getting a woman pregnant outside of wedlock. Lets be honest now. What percentage of that 20Gs do you think is really going to go to that child? I used to talk to this girl who was collecting two $375 checks a month from her baby's daddy. The dude was making less than $30,000 a year. When she told me that, I lost all interest in her.

I think the ruling is unfair as hell, seeing that his other son's BM is gettin by on $6,000.00 a month, not to mention the other kid is older.

However, I see this as being a case of the good, having to suffer for the bad. By this I mean, this is punishment for all of those no good kniggras, who didn't give their children a dime.

Had these kniggras taken care of their children, these ridiculous laws wouldn't exist.

'L', I know a brother with a master's degree, that quit his job (6 figure's yearly), sold 3 of his apartment buildings, to work 2 part time jobs, so he wouldn't have to pay child support (which was $3,500 per month) for his 2 kids.

My man had the kids on his insurance, paying their private school tuition, had them everyweekend, starting Thursday nights, and dropping them off at school on Monday mornings, but she still wanted to get him.

Now y'all see why I had to get back with JSU-ATL, she was killing me with the child support payments.

NICE

D-NICE,

You know a fool. No self respecting man would do all of that just to NOT support his children, even if the mother was being trifling and vindictive.

As for Puffy's child support payments, I don't think it's outrageous. Like Seeing Spots said, the man is making millions of dollars. Should his child live in a hovel, while he lives in some plush mansion??? He AGREED to pay something that he could afford. And I'll bet that what he's paying is less than the statutory requirement.

Robber, that's not a lie. The brother went to Brown with me, he's from Atlanta, and he's living in San Diego. He fell under CA's half rule, the alimony played a part in it as well.

The last time I talked to Prime Time (his nickname), he was trying to move to KY to start all over again, but for the time being he's doing double duty as a part timer.

I don't know all of the particular's, but that's his story.

NICE

L there isn't an amount on raising a child...but if he has it, why not provide for his child? How and why did they get into this child support argument anyway??? It may not take all of that to raise a child, but #$@% he has it...so why not? This money is going to the child, not the Mom...and if he has any doubts...there are provisions that can be made so that only the child will be supported and not the Mom.

This is outrageous !!!!!!!!!!

The money is going to the child and not the mom ?? WTF ?!?!

Not that I have been in the situation, but what really makes the brothers goes nuts is for the woman to be using this 'excstra' money to get the nails done, buy that new dress the wanted, etc. I guess there are just more cases of abuse of funds that some of us can relate to than not.

I don't know what lifestyle little Puffy has, but I'm sure that after the house payment is made (implying that mom doesn't pay a cent) and private school is paid for....there is a lot left over.

Puffy design's clothes, so his son can get a discount. Shopping at "Old Navy" wouldn't hurt them a bit....

I think you may have something there Dirty!  :( ;)

Phatback,

Other than Blublood, everybody knows that the mother is putting much of that money on herself. When dealing with such large amounts of money, I would try to have about $5,000.00 go to the the child and the remaining $15K held in a trust account until the child turns 21 (or whatever the age of emancipation is in that state). If they need to get at that trust money, they would have to go before the judge and explain why it's necessary.

And the crowd goes wild!!!

True that may be a lot of money, but like it already has been stated, child support is based on income and if he has that kind of income then let him pay. I work with public assistance and I have heard more than one person say that they will continue to stay on assistance so as to not pay for child support. I hope that P.Diddys son will be able to benefit from that when he is grown.
