Auto Mechanics

How do you go about finding a good one? I don't like having to take my vehicle to all these shops/dealerships to have work done.

I would much rather have a personal mechanic to complete all my vehicle maintenance for me.

Right now I need a brake job bad and I have no clue where to take it. I have options, but I just don't know which is the best.

I don't want to spend an arm and a leg to get it done, and I don't want anyone trying to take advantage of me.

Any mechanics on here, in the Dallas area?
 
Just gotta ask folks you know. Ask around at your job... I'm sure someone knows a good mechanic. Otherwise, it is trial and error.
 



You better find one of them Mezikans to help you out.

They will do any and everything to your car for $15.00 and a smile. :D

Warn, I would suggest that you just buy a new car/SUV. Keep it serviced and you shouldn't have any major problems.

buckwheat, my SUV is a 2004, but you still have maintenance to keep up, on a vehicle, dear. You can't just drive it and put gas in it.

I'm not necessarily just speaking of anything major...I mean from oil changes on up. I'd much rather have one person dealing w/my truck.

Sonny, I wish I could find a Mexican to do it...they do great work, I hear. :D

They do, but you have to remember they are like stray dogs, if you feed them they will never stop bothering you.

Pay them in cash AFTER they finish and do not allow them to bring more than 2 other people to help or bring Beer. Just pay them, smile, shake they hand and DUECES.

I know from first hand experiece about them.

I know! I usually use the car dealer that I bought the car from. They may be expensive, but they will do a good job. If you have a Honda, I would suggest going to a honda/acura shop that specializes in those type of autos. If you have a ford SUV, try one of the local service stations. They can usually fix anything that's american made.

Naw playa! We have two fairly new vehicles. It will be a while before we buy another car. Well, let me retract that statement. My wife does want to trade one the cars in to get a minivan. I hate minivans.

I would NEVER suggest a woman go to Meineke, Just Brakes or any other national chain mechanic. She would get HOSED...

Because they make noise and I've never had them changed before. I have 70,000 miles on my truck.

Damn, it's still over a $100 if I buy the parts. :what:

Awww damn....whoever does them on the side....make sure they have the rotors turn. Most autozone does them for free.

see, that's the kind of hook-up I'm looking for. That was $100 total...I don't have a problem going to purchase them myself. I just need someone to install them for me.

Also, what about the rotors? Will I automatically have to get those turned, or not?
 
if you never changed your brakes.....................YES!

This is what creating the noise you hear.
