I agree that Atl now is VERY different from the 90s. But then again, so is just about everything else. And back in the 90s, we were at the age where we were clubbing and partying. But we're old now. :lol:

You have band people who KNOW and love them. I'm talking about overall name. GSU is known for their football team and their band and just known as a top HBCU period. BCU can't say that. I just think that if JSU was playing BCU, I would have to give a dissertation to some people about who BCU is. But this ain't my business.... :D

Whattup Bruh. You speak the truth with how some of us natives feel about the vibe of the City now. We say it (well me and the home folks I kick it with) all the time that we want our City back; meaning, go back home transplants lol. I quit hanging out at the popular nightclubs because it became to Hollywood for the kid. That flossy ihst aint how we do it in the South. I mean, that don't define us like it do transplants; and that's all they do....fake it till you make it, and it's a heap of that going on lmmfao. I don't know if you saw the VH1 Rock Docs Special, "The Untold Story of Atlanta's Rise in the Rap Game"; but they touch on the role FreakNic played with the growth, oh so true, check it out.

Anyway, don't get me wrong, I love the growth that this City has made. Been here all my life except for them College days; and seeing how it has transformed into what it is now, is crazy man. But at the same time, I don't like the trade-off with what came with it.

Just about every city in America is very different from the 80's, 90's etc. Atlanta has always had fake Jakes (like every other city in America). I agree that the city has changed moreso than a lot of other cities due to migration. However to typecast millions of people is b.s. Most don't migrate here for the rap industry, to be a part of Black Hollywood and don't come here to "come out." :lol: :emlaugh: Republicans want their country back, and now we have black people that "want their city back. :lol: :emlaugh: This is not Father Knows Best and the Cosby Show is a relic. Grambling is not the best football program in American any longer, Bell Bottoms aren't in high demand freaknic is long gone and reality tv is the order of the day. No matter who you are where you may be if you're living in the past and don't get out of the way you're going to get rolled over like road kill. One thing that is constant in life is change. Memories are good to have but when the day dreaming ends, you're not where you were, it's a thing of the past and can't micro manage them under the guise of ownership. Everyone can define their reality but it doesn't make it true for others. :lol: :emlaugh:
 
Last thing then I wil leave it alone. One doesn't have to be born in a specific community to define or have an impact on it. For example, Maynard Jackson was born in Dallas, Andrew Young in Nashville (though many think New Orleans), Shirley Franklin (Philly), John Lewis (Troy Alabama), Bill Campbell (Raleigh NC) and numerous others movers and shakers that have transformed Atlanta in one way or the other. Like Lous Farakhan says, if you don't know what you're doing get out of the way and let someone who knows how do.......

I think what we were all trying to say and not typecast so to speak is that the ATL before it really became the must place to live as the economy grew there was different atmosphere in the black community. I ain't talking about the all the folks in the ATL. But the communities overall have changed. You are right a lot of cities have. But the ATL was doing good before a lot of folks knew it was doing good. Once the world found out. Everybody and their mother was running there. It was kind of a well kept SOUTHERN secret for a long time. Yeah cities have their phony folks. My point was a lot of the easy going vibe did leave when other folks brought their culture and style and added to the city. Not saying it was for the better or worse. Just that it is different now. Some of the natives have openly complained about it. Austin Texas for the better of it has become more eclectic over the years from being just a UT city and capital of Texas because the software industry brought a lot of them WEST Coast folks there and changed the overall Austin culture with more LIBERAL folks living there. They even thrive on the let's keep Austin weird thing. That was not the case 20-25 years ago. So if you were a good ole boy growing up in Austin back then, you are like damn look at what has happened to my city now. LOL.

You could go to Lennox Mall in the ATL in the 90s and see women and not want to be women. Buckhead used to the be the spot to go hang for whites and blacks in the 90s. I guess they are trying to rebuild it. So yeah things change. We understand that. My only point was the ATL community was DIFFERENT then than they are now. You had fake jakers back then. But as the city grew. You gain more of them and it does cause a culture shift with more people from other places.

I agree, with that..........I have watched it change with my own eyes. The only point that I have been trying to make is some of the labels are only true for small factions. Atlanta is a diverse city that has a little bit of everything. That scamming, Atlanta Housewives, Black Hollywood stuff is not most people reality in the ATL.

I'm seeing the positives...and I'm happy we are not playing lower division schools. I don't know who our other non-conference but wouldn't be opposed to it being Lamar again at Grambling.

Didn't mean to label the entire city. LOL. I still love visiting the ATL and always have a good time. But like all cities. Change is inevitable. Well maybe all cities. SMH about my hometown. We need an influx of people. Got to have jobs first. But that is another topic and thread. LOL.

2015 it's Cal-Berkeley and BCU
2016 it's Arizona and another HBCU
2017 is unclear, but La Tech and ULM are both begging for a game

The only thing to remain the same in the Atl is the crazy women. I do mean crazy. They are some of the best built, pretty things you will find, but man ole man you got some characters. :lol:
 
I remember going to the BCR in 2000 (we won Station of the Year BTW beating mainstays like JSU and Tenn. State lol) and we went to Greenbriar. As soon as I stepped in I knew it was the hood mall but then I saw this thick stallion that was at least 6'2-6'3 in shorts. I wanted to marry her on the spot but you could see the hood oozing from her pores :lol:

Orlando has gone through a lot these changes as well from when I first went there 15 years ago. My brother lives in Clermont about 20 miles away. What used to be open fields from the city limits to orange county is completely urbanized now :lol:

If you only knew. We get them from everywhere. Don't talk about nothing you know about. People from Mays, SWD, Redan, etc are in Gramblings band and their are a good number of people from ATL at Gram. Hell i got many frat that marched in band with me, before and after from ATL. We aren't regional.

What Classic has Grambling been in that drew only 15k fans? At least 30k, plus we are getting a nice check for the move! 32k showed up yesterday to see a 1-3 Grambling take on a 0-4 PV !

Grambling and PV makes sense it helps the city of Dallas as well as both schools. BCU vs GSU doesn't nothing for the city of ATL and most important nothing for Grambling or BCU

It's does from a fiscal standpoint, we don't play in the SFC next year, so replacing it with a game in Atlanta, the largest city in the south, makes sense, especially with the number of GSU alumni and Louisiana natives in the ATL area
