ATL the movie


ATL was good. I saw it last night. The only thing that might be disappointing about is the ending. Yeah, a lot of stereotypes are broken in this movie. It's not a regular hood movie. To me its an instant classic.
 



I went to see it and I took my 9 year old w/ me... I didn't want him to see it until after I saw it, but I was glad I did take him.... it taught him a thing or 2

I guess being born and raised in the Atl I understood the movie. It was a time when people did looked down on you for being from the SWATS. The old Atl and new Atl is a new world believe that.

Anybody here got a chance to see this movie. It was on yesterday on HBO. That was a nice movie. Big Boi played his part a little bit to well. :lol: Bang,I gotcha! lol. I love those skate routines;Our people man... we have our issues but we are really an innovative people.
 
I liked the movie from the skating tip. The movie was entertaining, but I can see why people wouldn't like it.
 
man, i enjoyed the movie, i bought it too. i'm not from ATL, but we did the skate thing on Sunday's too, so i could relate. plus i've been to Cascade on Sunday's and that shat is foreal! the story line was good also....
 
It was just a movie with some black people in it to me. It seemed like anywhere usa but just portrayed in the south. What about the movie was specific to Atlanta? New-New (Laureen London) curently has a role in "Entourage" on HBO.

If you were raised in the Atl you would understand. Cascade used to be called Jelly Beans back in the cut.

I like the girl who had a hard time starting her car.:emlaugh: Man her switch was devastating and Earth Shaking; her cute butt and hips moved as if they were on rollerbearings, moving so smooth that I was happpy to be an Earthling.
 
Yeah, I saw it again on HBO and my feelings are STILL the same. I agree with NT. We use to go to the skating ring back in the day and alot of people had their skating groups and so on and so forth. The movie sucked and had no meaning behind it. I understand being from ATL and Cascade area and all. My wife (being from College Park area) schooled me on all that, but as far as the movie go. It sucked.

Maybe I need to write Spike Lee and see if he's interested in making a movie about me and my boys (from a small town) when we were young. How when Run DMC's Hard as Hell tape came out and when we started break dancin to it. And how we went around challenging other dance groups.

Man I don't hate the South. That's where my family is from. I just take things for what they are. You must be getting old or something because there have been many times on this board that I have took up for Mississippi, especially the Delta. The only problem that I have is when people make more of something than it really is. I can understand that things may be relative, no big deal. But then their are situations when I'm like "slow your roll, is it like that fo' real or is it that your over active imagination". I just respect an area for what it is, not what somebody is trying to sell me. The only time I REALLY trip is when a person tries to downplay my sh@t when they have no clue while trying to uplift theirs. :angry:

I watched it last night and that arse looks good on the 51' in HD.:ebrow: And the dimples on NEW NEW......man:kiss: :kiss:

Ya know. I don't understand how some people get on here and say that this was a bad movie. They the same ones complaining when a movie comes out about niggras in the hood doing nothing with their lives and here this movie DOES have a plot and does try to tell a coming of age story through the eyes of todays black youth. I guess you can't please everyone.
