Just kidding! :D

Awww hush up ROI.....

To bad two sweet things like ROI and SLT got caught up in JSTANK..... :teleport:

 Lets get one thing straight! :lecture: I'm a former Marching Hornet and Drum major at ASU. I was also at the game, and I will give a direct quote from Southern Univ. "To thy own self be true". :look: I love my school and will defend it always. However, I can honestly say we could have been better but that does not warrent a thrashing from Southern because you all could have been better too! You all play just like you post messages, a lot of LOUD TALKING! Thats whats wrong with you young cats now a days, and this goes for all bands: You have no respect for anyones opinion. These guys just gave their opinion and you (JAGS) came back with insults! :smh: Very uncalled for. I know we need a lot of work. But get your history straight. Bama ST. has been in many events. Bama state and Famu were 2 of the first bands to be established way before Southern but thats beside the point. I also recall someone in here from SU calling someone a crab. :shh: I have more experience in this then you have in your own band so before you go downing anyone, check yourself. :shame: That guy gave his point of view without downing your program. Now I'm mature enough to admit SU has a excellent program but so does alot of others. I will chill for now but I will leave the SWAC with something to think about:

SU: Drills are good but they should be. After all, you've been doing the same ones since the Watts riots! Band should have a nice strong sound. After all, you march all hard legs! But are you really that strong! Keep in mind, you have all males blowing against bands that are literally coed and they still get down with you all so now really how strong are you? :( Now imagine if Jackson, Bama st., Grambling, Texas S., AAMU, PV, and a few others (not that we need to) did that. You really would be unheard of , but we still hold are own! :argue: Now everyone, watch the drama. They say the truth hurts. By no means that any of this is to insult Southern Univ. but one thing I can say: I keep my opinions to myself and state only the facts. Everything in this post can be proven by anyone who can walk and chew bubble gum to be true!!!!!!!!

Like I said before ASU is known for their lack of originality so u shouldn't be surprised by what I said.

Lack of originality?? How so, and since when?? :uhoh:

......the only people saying that Bama St got the "W" is Bama St. :mrt:

The only ASU folks talkin all da noise are the ones on here.........the rest of us having said anything cause either we weren't at the game or just simply don't have nuthin to say. :smh:

Just to get an idea of what happened on Saturday, I called my frat Reggie in da Gump; even though he is MMH (DM, 95-96), he is very unbiased and is a die hard Jukebox fan........he basically said something similiar to what I've read here and on SF's. In a nutshell, SU got the W in the stands; ASU did good at halftime, but it wasn't necessarily a W.

Fucc all dis foolishNESS............I wanna see footage so I can form my own opinion.

Cross Witness:

When JSU puts JSU on the field... that's called tradition
When JSU rocks the house... that's tradition
When Bama State's DMs come out and do the half backbend... tradition

Now when SOUTHERN performs the same drills...keep in mind it is a DRILL also (not a stationary A midfield) "we do the same shows." Even if they are the same shows that you've seen since the Watts Riots... WHO outdrills SOUTHERN???? Keith Sweat.....Nobody. SOUTHERN took the concept of the step two to another dimension. If other SWAC directors were bout shat, then step up and give Doc some incentive to step up his game. One, you have to realize that there is a reason why the man does the same shows. You qouted us once...here's another one that he uses.... "When you've got a winning horse, why take him out of the race".... The drill argument doesn't hold water cause every band in the SWAC is sticking to what...tradition.

Secondly, of the females in the other bands... how many of them are blowing brass as opposed to woodwind. I'm sure not many. As far as Southern... how many bros are on saxophone and percussion. That ain't contributing to that wall of brass slapping you in the face. You really want the truth, go beyond assumptions. For every female in other bands...you got dudes at SOUTHERN who ain't blowing shat. So that leaves an even playing field. The difference comes from the arrangements..inner voicing... You dayum right we are some hard legs... and we take this shat serious. We have the right to be cocky...just as Roy Jones Jr was cocky during his prime. Until somebody puts us on the canvus... we gone talk shat. Like I said before...FAM got us in 2000. We didn't complain. We regrouped, came back in 2001 and put it on their azzez... in Tallahassee. That's what band is about...competition. H3ll, if I work this hard and wax somebody, I'm supposed to chill and be humble... h3ll naw...step up YOUR game and get on our level. You ask how strong are we... ask anybody in a SWAC band...when it is SOUTHERN week...their practices get a little more serious. As a drummajor, I'm sure you can attest to that. Ain't no love lost, competition makes the market thrive... a rule of Economics...why??? It makes the shows that much better for the fans. Wait till next year..... Oct. 16 for J Steak.

We rank ourselves according to previous SU bands' performances... SU 85, SU 95, SU 99... the success of other bands' season is measured against how they fared against SOUTHERN that year.

That statement made no sense what so ever. Out of all the bands in the SWAC SU is the smallest so that comparison you made is null and void. The question should be asked is if SU moved up to the size of a normal SWAC which is anywhere from 200 - 250 will any of these other bands be heard of.

MY point exactly! SMDH.

The better question is how LONG do they have left?

They don't want to see Southern at 200-250.

Imagine the penalties the football team would get because the referees would be listening to the echos still thinking the band is playing after they've "And Downed" 2 minutes prior to the snap.

Bama...have fun with JSU. We came, saw, and conquered.

Oct. 9th-AAMU!

IMO, neither show was spectacular and a loud crowd response does not always mean that you were the better band.

Although both bands have a different sound than what I'm accustomed(sp) to, Alabama State sounded horrible on the field--it sounded like you all just ran a marathon and then tried to play!

Southern's sound was not great, but much better than State...the marching and drills were on-point, and althought I've never been a fan of your dance routines, I always enjoy the energy you guys put into every move.--the show just flowed alot smoother than ASU's. I wouldn't say that I was impressed with your show, but in my opinion it was enough to the "U" victorious.

I enjoyed ASU's creativity on the field(i. the telephone), but it was hard to appreciate what you all were trying to do, because you all did not sound good!--It sounds as if you guys want to be loud (like SU), but you're just not able to pull it off...they've been doing it for years and it works for them, but not you! The marching was decent and the drills was nice. I thought that your dance routine was better than Southern's...the big girls at the end were a good way to get some crowd appeal! I think if a better sounding ASU was on the field, you might be able to argue that you were better; but with what I heard, you can't possibly say that you were the best!

I feel that, although the mic on the field weren't in the best positions, you can still get a good idea what each band sound like......

Crowd Appeal is all I give ASU......

But showmanship and sound quality I had to give it to SU...
I hate to be the one to be like, I knew that with out looking....
But I am sorry I did.... It don't seem like most bands in the SWAC care about execution as much as SU...and that makes a BIG difference in competition...

If you just want to please the crowd, you really don't have to drill...Ever thought about that?

Man, alot of the battles are like he described. Folks trying to give all-around "W's" for getting a little house during the dance routines.... :smh: Knowing good n'he!! well, they're getting that service in everything else.

...and, they always wanna point to SU's priorities and question.

Just s _ _! :smh: , I tell ya.

Exactly!! Like I said before ASU's show was entertaining but there was nothing special about it. Any band can go on the field and P-pop for 250 counts. If I wanted to be entertaining I could go get 10 naked women and put them on the field and house out. The fact of the matter is Bama St out showed SU but SU out performed them.
