More than 25 ASU students will join the thousands of people from around the world celebrating the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington.

Leaders from ASU’s Student Orientation Services (S.O.S.) will board a bus on Sunday, Aug. 25 for the trip to Washington, D.C.

Hundreds of thousands of people attended The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on Aug. 28, 1963, where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous "I Have a Dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

The march will be re-created on Aug. 28 and end on the National Mall in Washington. President Obama will address the nation from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Cherise Peters, associate provost and vice president for Enrollment Management, said march organizers sent a personal invitation to ASU.
