JR, Coolie was a complete FOOL about it. You name it, he did it. He had complete control over the campus. The MARCHING BAND fell under the athletic department at that time. :lmao:

Tulane basketball (John "Hotrod" Williams)

Tulane's men's basketball program fell victim to one of the biggest scandals of the 1980s in college sports when four players, including star forward "Hot Rod" Williams were accused of taking money and cocaine to alter the final point spreads of games they played in. Clyde Eads and Jon Johnson were granted immunity and testified against Williams, the alleged ringleader. Although he was indicted, the judge eventually declared a mistrial and no sentence was handed down. Williams spent the next nine years with the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. Following the scandal, Tulane's administration decided to disband the men's basketball program. It was resurrected four years later under new head coach Perry Clark who rapidly rebuilt the program to unprecedented success, including a 1991-92 season that started 13-0 and ended in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Damn!! Wow, talk about control. LOL. Hell he could have suited you up Frat.

The sad thing is that I know Coach........he played ball with my old man back in the day. I guess he learned it from their coach Big John Merritt during his days coaching at JSU. Big John was a known for his not above board dealings. LOL.

My uncle played for Tulane when Hot Rod Williams messed up the program. He ended up transfering to USL.

The NCAA wont do anything to ASU. If they were, it would have been done by now. Hell its 2008. Once you are such a down in the dumps program like ASU, why cause anymore harm? Isnt the penalty being ASU? Oh well, we tried to tell them they had no clue what they were doing there. Them damn idiots cut off their nose just to spite their face.

You guys have a bunch of idiots running that poor school in the ground. I hope they are happy now.

Karma is a mutha!! If yall woulda gave that girl her money back.....:smh:

Po MH, Po Bama State.:smh::smh:

I had a couple of friends who transferred from Uapb to SU with Cooley. I wont even repeat the stories they told me. :lmao:

GR, do you realize that during the midst of this investigation, they hired the football coach from 1999 (yes, the on who coached that 1999 MCC) as their AD. They better not say he is under investigation!! :lmao:

Everyone in the WORLD knows that LC was having grades changed in 2001. Even Darnell Kennedy was not eligible two weeks INTO the season but somehow became eligible. :smh: Hughes should have been more like ole AJ the Snitch.

if there are any championships to forfeit they will have to be. softball gave back almost an entire season a few years ago. mens basketball has already acknowledged some games and fines for lamar clark and the kid from huntsville a few years back when spivery was still coach. and football has already done 3 years in the clink without 30 scholarships. cole and co feel like they'll completely clear their name which will ironically be good for bama state.

rats that have left the ship. joe reed will be done in 09 I believe. joe lee decided a few weeks ago he'd had enough and is leaving in a few weeks. whitfield died. all the ADs just were incompetent as AD's(spivery's not an AD, he a coach. I don't blame him for that) except for Cosby who came there to do just what he did. sonja price should be fired for her role and with the apr (doesn't win, doesn't graduate players...why r u here again?).

I think the worst of the scholarship and sanction penalties are behind them. I wouldn't be surprised if they had to pay some huge fine like a million dollars. that would be fair. 1,000 violations, $!00 a piece, a million dollars. don't forget, they haven't settle with l c cole yet who could end up owning what's left of the athletic dept. can't u see it..... the "L C Cole" Hornets vs. TX Southern.

That's gonna get PRETTY ugly when it does happen for ASU! :smh:

The NCAA barely knows that ASU is alive. They wont do anything. Besides, what more can be done. 668 is a lot though.

Joe Lee or whatever his name is....you happy now?

Because ASU took so long (four years) to provide the information and documentation requested by the NCAA, the NCAA might add extra penalites on gp for punitive damages!

Lee had the nerve to say, on this evening's news, that he wants a 'fair and swift resolution' to these allegation. Now that ASU is charged with 688 violations he wants swift and fair, but where was swift and fair when all of this mess started? Where has swift and fair been for the past 5 years? Where was swift and fair when Lee was taking his orders from Joe Reed to stall, delay and ignore requests from the NCAA? Where was swift and fair when Richard Cosby put that article on the AP wire about a 'Football Program Out Of Control' and the careers of three men went into the toilet??? Swift and fair my arse!

Just 3 years ago, the NCAA was all in the grill of the SMU mens basketball program for MONTHS. The program half the time didn't have 5 players in practice because the NCAA was questioning the players during practice time. That led to a HORRIBLE record that season and the coach resigning (brother too).

The NCAA can be like the IRS.

Jimmy Tubbs was fired by SMU, he didn't resign and as soon as it was made public, a few of Dallas ISD school informed SMU that they would no longer be welcomed at their schools to recruit any student athlete in support of Tubbs. In fact a lot of black parents won't even let their kids go to SMU for anything.

SMU still had to pay him and the current coach's salary. They had to ask for more donations from alumni and private donors. Now you know why they fought for the George Bush Library. They needed the money.

And yes the NCAA will drop the bomb on ASU. They are going to send a message to the SWAC & MEAC and even the black community.
You whined about not being able to play with the big boys, whined about not getting coaching jobs outside of HBCU, whined about not being in charge of departments adn whined aboutHBCU being look upon as fodder for everyone.
So even when you cheat, you still can't win anything.
This makes us look bad for a black run program to have all this come down on them.
We all know that we get judged by the actions of others. This doesn't help.
