Just today I was watching our local news channel and came across a topic that has been going lately. The topic was about the Unviversity of Mississippi fight song chant. The chancellor of the university, and rightfully so, stated that if the students continue to sing the chant that the south will rise again then he has no choice to rebuke the chant and no longer will it be allowed as the school fight song. Now here is where it disturbed me, I was listening to some of the students feelings about the situation and there was mixed views until it got to a black student who was PROUDLY STANDING UP for it and he feels that they should be allowed to keep the chant that "the south shall rise again" and I was like :kaioken: and then I was like ! No matter how much you think a person knows or should know something there are people that still don't know. Also, do the people that go to this "God Awful" University do they realize what they are uplifting? Ole Miss title of 'Rebel' is not for black people and so many people refuse to see this or they don't think that it applies to something that "blacks" don't approve of. So my question is do you think that blacks are not getting the message of freedom and justice and do you think that it not being taught in our schools and home?
Sincerely,
A concerned person
