Are the Republicans falling apart at the seams right before our eyes?

With the "Tea Party" gaining more control and power within the party, and with all this in-party fighting, does it look like the Republicans are falling apart at the seams?

Care to discuss?

I think so. This is why the news media is trying to hype them up and make it seem like they will sweep mid-term elections. I think they will be surprised once again this fall. History will be made again.

I think so too. However, the democrats should not rest because some in the Tea Party have won primaries. Very conservative republicans have won in the general election. Look at Texas Congressman Ron Paul, who is a libertarian and in my opinion not a proponent of the civil rights laws. Orin Hatch is very conservative in his politics. Sharron Angle, despite the things that come out of her mouth, has more than a decent chance on winning in Nevada. During the '60s many did not take Reagan seriously on the national level, and during the '70s, a lot looked at him as an extermist. He was inaugurated as the president in 1981.

No, the "Tea Party" is a good indication that the people are rebelling against the government......period. The "Tea Party" is a conservative base, so I don't see how conservatism will hurt Republicans.

The Tea Party is "too extreme" with their views. And if history has told us anything, it has hinted that our society don't like extremist views! :shame: Keep thinking that just because the Tea Party represents the "true conservative base" that they will just walk into these political positions.

If anything, they will be in for a serious fight come general elections, especially when the media gets a hold of all the "documented" radical rhetoric that the've been spewing for so long. Most of that is being swept under the rug for now until the Dem's can maximize if for "shock value!"

Mark my words. Come general elections, the Dems will have so much ammunition from the media outlets that Repubs will be forced to 1) retreat, or 2) finally start showing some respect to the POTUS and siding with him on key decisions for this country!

Frankly, I can't wait until general elections. One thing the Tea Party has shown us is they are not "diverse!" They are not receptive to the perceptions of other people's reality and therefore will be labeled as "extremits!"

Yep they are.
Last night, they completed the task of eating their own. The only people voting for these TEA Party nutts are these ultra right REPUB yet they acting like they have won the general election. Just like in 2008, nobody in a State Wide or National election are going to vote for these nutt jobs. I don't care how pissed people are, they are not going back to the days when Rev. Graham? Christian conservatives and the Abortion wacos ruled the political scene and path.

This may have given the DEMOS and INDI's that vote with them a reprieve. Hope the DEMO's grow a spine and take advantage. They can start by putting a boot to Pelosi weak azz. I told ya'll she was not going to be worth a shat when they were pushing her for the leadership position during the election. To much San Francisco mentality..........(No backbone/whinney/weak). :smh:

I don't have to "think", because the "Tea Party" is doing, and that I can see with mine own eyes. Moderate no good Republicans are gettin they azz kicked out of office, and replaced with true conservatives. This sends a strong message to the rest of the Republican party; either you do it our way, or we gone vote yo azz out.....that simple. In fact, I'm willing to bet, they bout done schitted on themselves after the recent replacement. These folks aint playing when it comes to they money. I been saying this repeatedly. This is the "Boston Tea Party" all over again without the violence. These folks are rebelling, and yall aint seen nothin yet. Wait til November.

You must mean HARRY REID, LOL

Nope.
I'm talking about Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.
She been weak as hell since day #1 in that position.

Deadweight at the top levels need to be cut loose. She look like a deer caught in headlights everytime she is out front speaking on something. Always a day late, a dollar short, and let the House Repubs run her azz ragged day after day.

Even if this was true, the Dems are too stupid to capitalize. Those mofos are too weak. Now we got Dems calling for tax cuts for the rich. They want to extend the Bush tax cuts. That's a damn shame.

Sorry it was meant to be a joke, I think Harry Reid is much weaker.

And therein lies the "true problem" with your thinking. This "my way or the highway" attitude is why the Tea Party will not succeed. In their ideology, there is no room for disagreement, or better yet compromise. And if you aren't willing to compromise with other cultures, belief systems, etc, you will start to see that support dwindle during the general elections!

Oh well, watch America show yall ass that they really don't like the Tea Party come the general elections!

You are so correct! We will not compromise our beliefs........at all. Right is right, and wrong is wrong. Why in he// would I compromise doing what's right for wrong doing? I would rather people hate me for doing what's right, then loving me for doing what's wrong. People who try to do what's right, will always be in disagreement with the direction of the world. Yes, we gone see come November.

But what's right in the conservatives' (and radical conservatives') eyes CLEARLY doesn't reflect the nation's beliefs...otherwise, the Republicans would be in power right now, and McCain would be our President. Shoot...with all the in-party fighting going on in the GOP, I don't even think THEY know what's right in their conservative eyes. That unyielding, uncompromising mindset is really gonna be the downfall of the GOP. In this day and age, the cons of that mindset severely outweigh the pros.

With all this division on the right, I don't see how they can possibly win in November. Too much of anything is bad. And this tea party is waaayyyy to conservative...and they call Obama's Administration "radical". The tea party takes the cake.

What the tea party needs to do is detach itself from the Republican party, and form it's own party...cause this in-fighting and division is gonna cost them big time. The nation sees how looney those wack-jobs in the extreme right are. Hopefully those wackos in the tea party will scare the "common sense folks" into coming out in November to vote and put these tea party folks back in their place.

The idea of a Republican (excuse me...I mean tea party run) influence scares me. It's like they are the epitome of regression. I don't wish ill-will on people, but I hope they don't find success in November...or in my lifetime.

83,
Pelosi is far from weak. Based purely on the amount legislation she has ushered through, she is actually one of the most effective Speakers of all time. She is going to get ragged because that just comes with the job. Plus, the Good ole boys don't want to see a woman with that much power. If you put a moderate in as speaker, I guarantee you that we wouldn't get shat accomplished. Say what you want but the speaker has one job and one job only, to get legislation passed.

I agree, and that's why true conservatives are being voted in by the "Tea Party". For example, some republicans have a serious problem saying "homosexuality is wrong." IMO, I elect not to vote for someone who doesn't have the confidence to state right from wrong. Identifying that something is wrong, has nothing to do with being extreme right or left; it simply means that right is right, and wrong is wrong. Politicians that raise taxes on the American people, are wrong for doing so, if the majority of the people reject raising taxes. Politicians that force the American people to pay for a service, are wrong for doing so, if the majority of the people refuse the service. The government is suppose to be for the people, and if the people decline an offer from the government, then the government should adhere to the will of the people. After all, it's the people who elect officials into office, therefore the people are in control; and the "Tea Party" is proving it to be so by the previous elections. The American people, will not allow the government to burden the people any more than they already have, come this November elections.

No, the "Tea Party" is doing the right thing, by restoring the greatness of the Republican Party.

I have not read the other replies, but this is my input.

The Tea Party is trying to return Republicans to its fiscal conservative roots which were lost during the W. Bush Administration.

I could not agree with you more - the Dems are not to bright. Right now, if they had any balls they would run the following ads:

1. Telling Americans how the reps are trying to take away their tax cuts - reps are raising taxes on the poor and middle class.

2. Telling Americans how these people (deliberately not says reps) want to get rid of government - Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid

Sorry it was meant to be a joke, I think Harry Reid is much weaker.

Both need to be replaced with reps that will show some backbone and actually stand up to these stall and destroy Repubs and wanna be Tea Party members.

Neither Pelosi or Reid are strong enough to stand up anyone. You say boo to them and they look like they just crapped in their pants.
