I saw the samething out of Broadway, I did when his loaded with talent high school team played Clinton High(East Feliciana now). When he is blitzed and hit, he starts looking at he rush, instead of down the field.

Them dam Cajuns were in the dome deep. Had no idea they had a following like that. Makes you wonder would happen if they went on a tear and started beating on some major teams. They would indeed be the "#2" team in the state.

They are putting together a nice little run with 8 win seasons and bowl wins... plus the New Orleans Bowl is pretty much a home game for them and the city seems to have invested in the partnership.

They need one of those signature games like ULM had last year against an SEC/Big school foe...

Yes, they have a decent fan base. When Southern U went down there in 2009 they squeezed 41,357 people in a 31,000 seat stadium. There were people sitting on an end zone hill and others standing up behind the bleachers because all the seats were sold out. That game is still their current stadium record today. They have a nice alumni base in New Orleans also. Many students from N.O. have been flocking to Lafayette for years to matriculate. It almost seems like some of them go there to get in touch with their Cajun roots. :lol: :emlaugh: With Tulane added to the mix in that bowl, I wasn't overly surprised.

If you ask a ULL fan, they will probably tell you their signature win was against 25th ranked at the time Texas A&M in 1996 in Lafayette. I know you're probably talking about something a little more recent though.......

Now you know if that was one of our teams trotting out a QB that couldn't throw worth anything folks would be saying we embarrassed the conference.

If not for the black QB that Will Muschamp ran off last season and a lucky punt block that was returned for a TD with no time left, they would have had a signature win in Gainesville against a Top 10 team. Why is Muschamp still coaching Florida? lol

That what they were trying to do years ago when they changed their name to the University of Lousiania. We all know LSU blocked that.

True.....they still don't like the Lafayette included in their name but have no choice.....UL Monroe just piggy backed on the name change fight that then USL waged and had to compromise on.

Man I thought it was just me? That game was exciting at the end, but it was a terribly played game. QB play was atrocious! The coaching was suspect also. If this was a SWAC game most people on this board would be killing these teams!

The board of regents board members from LSU (alums) blocked it and it did in fact go to court. The district court stated that only state legislators could change the name and stripped them of the name change (the judge was an LSU alum and supporter and did not recuse himself from the case). His ruling contradicted the law and state legislators quickly changed the law after the ruling (Louisiana politics). The Louisiana legislature came up with the "LSU Rule," that basically stipulated the "at" part that is in UL @ Monroe & @ Lafayette that you see in both schools name.

They took it to court and lost. The judge was an LSU alumn.

They should have known the deck was stacked against them. The Kingfish (Huey P. Long) lobbied a long time ago to make LSU the flagship school in Louisiana. Somewhere I heard, because of State legislation, LSU is the only public school in Louisiana that can have fraternity/sorority houses directly on its campus. Other State schools can have them in locations off their campus.

No surprise there, Baylor and UCF is not exactly a high-quality matchup. lol

I hear LSU isn't doing too well selling their Outback Bowl tickets either.

Here is how I see it. I am sure that the fans of the bowl teams liked it if there teams were there. They loved it if their teams won. Fans liked it if their teams made the playoffs. They loved it if their team won in the playoffs. They loved it more if their team won it all.

While many TV sets will be turned to football on New Year’s Day, I expect more of them to be showing the national championship game.

They are begging people on sports radio here. (Im going to the Michigan/Kansas St.game. (Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in Tempe.) Its a better matchup plus I want to see UM band in person)

That's not quite accurate.

There are so many bowls because bowl organizers understand they can get the majority of the profits off the game and events surrounding the bowl. The bowls - because they intake so much revenue from schools and TV contracts and sponsors - are part of the reason why it has taken so long for the FBS to stage a postseason. They don't wanna have to share the profits from those games with playoffs.

Thank you for backing me up with this... this "insignificant" bowl games pull ratings... ESPN would not be trying to create more bowl games if they weren't pulling in viewers.
