Gametime weather:

Birmingham, AL

Yeah, PNeck; but Birmingham CAN have some 70 degree days in December (I was at the first SCG and it was a beautiful day), Montana is usually always 50 and below at this time of year.

And when B'ham gets its dome, weather will be a moot point.

Regards.

It was more than 22,000 people there today..... I dont care what the official numbers say.

IMO there were more people at the game today than it was last year.... ASU had about the same amount of crowd and SU brought more fans than GSU does. Where the problem is.... BLACK folks be getting in free.... slip the man at the gate 10 dollas he will let you walk in around the turnstyle. I do it every year at Magic City Classic. I never buy a ticket. But it was more than 22,000.

Well, I for one wouldn't pay money for a plane ticket, hotel, rental car, and then stiff the SWAC on a $20 ticket, but if its being done then the SWAC needs to tighten up.

But attendance was the KEY issue when WEST was still in the air. I find it sort of funny that the SWAC had a team that was the closet to Legion field than any other team in the SWAC and the school that led D1-AA in attendance this year, and still barely managed 20,000 people at the game. Something is wrong here.

Could it be you just can't judge the crowd. I saw the game on TV and said it was about 21 to 22K.

It is amazing that supposedly no stadium officials can get attendance correct.

I am very disappointed in the turnout for the game. I said in another thread that with all that was going on around this game, this one shoulda been the attendance leader. As it turns out it's the worst attended SCG to date. Where was the Nation??? Where were the Hornet fans??? This is really s _ _.

A lot of people from Southern made other plans after we lost the Bayou Classic. The bus I rode would have been full, but they canceled it after the BC loss. So Monday, they had to put it back together and about half the people had made other plans and did not go. Thinking we were not going for a week put a big dent in Southerns Crowd.

Co-sign. Good take. How in the world could attendance be so low for such an intriguing game coming in (last minute comeback win in regular season by southern, ASU has to pick up pieces to get back to the championship game,, ONLY TO HAVE TO FACE SOUTHERN AGAIN, you couldn't have ask for a better setup) ? Rhetorical question, Lewis explanation sounds plausible. I heard ASU people express the same thoughts after lossing to Tuskegee in the TDC, but I suspect that was spur of the moment frustration.

:shame: Now now,,,, easy. i-i wouldn't read too much into that. the lad is fresh out of college and still in the college mind mentality of "getting over on the system" and scroundging to get into games,, (I hope.) Just young college kid exuberance. (I hope. :slap: ) If not that, just a freudian slip on DaHill's part remeniscing the college days that swiftly pass and making a little jokie-joke I'm sure, right Dahill? :|

sincerely, Alabama HBCUs public relations manager.

Maybe a lot of Southern fans didn't want to travel to Alabama for the third time. You'll know we don't attend football games when it's cold or raining.

I really don't see a purpose for the SWAC Championship game. It's a low budget operation, that's not marketed by the SWAC Conference.

A similar situation happened in 2001 season.

even though the crowd wasnt as large as in the past.... it was a very energetic crowd.... I would rather have an energetic 20,000 crowd than a "pretty" 40,000 crowd.....

also question... where does the SWAC make money wth ticket sales... I dont know if the ticketmaster tickets were fake or not but EVERYBODY you walked by outside of the gate was scalping tickets.... Some were 1 for 20.... I saw some 2 for 25.... I looked at ALL of the tickets and in the corner all of the tickets had 0.00 in the bottome corner (basically like complimentary tickets) How do these junkies get a hold to these tickets? Do they photcopy them. I can see where the SWAC may lose money off of this game... The Birmingham neighborhood junkies are making all of the money selling complimentary tickets.

Yeah, I was a little dissappointed with the turnout, but there was a lot of energy especially during the second half of the game. ASU did in fact bring more fans than SU.

On the scaper issue, I was also amazed at how many times I had people ask me do I want some tickets. I mean they were almost one after the other as I moved towards the ticket counter from the east side of the stadium. There was even a scaper in front of Birmingham Southern College.

Have yall noticed that EVERY SWAC CHampionship game has been a close game usually outright won in the final 5 or 6 minutes of the game.
