And the No. 1 city is????

yes I believe State Farm main office is in Bham, not 100% if its the main, but its one there. I've always heard people sell Huntsville for its missile defense, engineering, and aerospace industries, thats exactly how the article starts off as well so they are taking occupations into consideration, for those people because those are the industries that dominate.

There is a statefarm building in Huntsville off of south parkway about a mile north of the Wal-Mart on the right. I remember getting my insurance switched to statefarm at that office. The President of the branch is a Grambling Alumni. I forget his name. I want you all to know that I'm not hating on Huntsville, but it can't compare to the DMV in job opportunities. I have some friends that live out in the Madison area and they have some nice homes.

anyone got connections in the USDA or Department of Commerce..

JSUPop, I don't know of anyone that works for either branch, but I can ask around and see what I can come up with. I work for the DNDO section of The Department of Homeland Security. What is your background?

that may be just a branch, not like a service center where claims are processed. I think claims are processed in Bham and other spots.

I hear what you saying, its all good with me, and I for one never tried to compare the two. That's the nation's capital, government jobs are supposed to be plentiful. Huntsville, IMO is great for how it measures up to cities of the same size/caliber, and the average person would not really think its cuttin up like that. No other small city in the region can do what Huntsville does in those perspective industries. That's why i'm sure it was ranked #1. I being a native of Alabama never envisioned that myself. I don't think anyone was trying to make it compete with DMV, well i wasn't at least. The main thing Huntsville is a small city with a booming attitude, and because of its domination in those perspective industries is being put on the map.

Cool, I think it is a branch. Isn't there a Blue Cross Blue Shield service center in B-Ham?

yep. Birmingham is a hub for Healthcare, Financial Services, and Insurance. And before banks started merging it was really Financial Services city. You had AmSouth, Southtrust, Compass, Regions. Every other person I know either works for BCBS, Regions, Wachovia, Compass, or UAB. Before the ATT merge, BellSouth dominated there as well.

Same here. Since I'm not that familiar with Huntsville, I was totally unaware of what it has to offer. If I ever decided to move back to the deep south, I'll defiantly consider it.

I designed flyers for Mix Boy Entertainment for a while (Huntsville based group) and I have actually hung out in the city. I like Huntsville.:lecture: Beautiful scenery and nice people...
