Many years have past by since a team so pre-destined for greatness and championships has graced the world of college basketball. THAT'S RIGHT!!!!!!! Destiny, throughout history has only picked a handful to be
"the ones". The one(s) whose legacy will forever remain in infamy. Not since those boys over from the Hills of Ann Arbor, when a basketball team with five freshman starters -- Michigan's Fab Five -- advanced to the NCAA Tournament championship game, has destiny showed her face. Remember them? Their talent was breathtaking; their trash-talking, baggy-shorts style endearing; their influence profound, even to this day. They drew record television audiences, set fashion trends and set off a licensing and merchandising boom that perhaps nudged all of college athletics along its current marketing-crazed course. Reason being destiny hasn't been around, I guess is that the previous Fab Five disgraced themselves as well as destiny. It's been since 1992 that destiny was last seen... But alas, destiny has dove down into our realm once again, and has selected a new group to be destined champions. THAT'S RIGHT!!!!!!! Folks this year destiny resides none other than on a campus located in Normal, Alabama, and will occur in Huntsville at the T.M. Elmore Gymnasium. Who is this team you ask? Well let me introduce them to you:
First up
Destiny can't afford to let what happened last time to ever happen again, so she searched long and hard. From
Chapel's Hill to the
Valley of the Blue Devils, none fitted what destiny was looking for. She needed a school that had, "it". She needed, a basketball school. Then last year, something caught the attention of destiny.
Alabama A&M University Head Basketball Coach
L. Vann Pettaway
Winningest coach in the SWAC with a 384-181 record in 19 years of coaching.
Averaging over 20+ wins a season.
Numerous accolades and achievements.
Cancer survivor.
Yes, destiny found her man. Coach Pettaway, one of the great coaches of today. Amazed at what Coach Pettaway has done she instantly got that fire burning down in her spirits again. Coach Pettaway will not embarrass destiny like the once "blessed" squad of Michigan did. Instead Coach Pettaway will rip a tear through college basketball like no other seen since that awesome March in 1992. But destiny doesn't stop with Coach Pettaway, it just begins.
"The Chosen One"
Obie Trotter
6'1", 180 - G, Sr.
This kid has the thing that you call "it". An All-American last year, he returns as the #1 man to beat, and is looking to push his draft stock up to the 1st round. Someone needs to whip his azz because he's done stole somethin'. 128 times to be exact last season, as he led the nation in that category. He can do it all (shoot, dribble, play defense, pass) with the best of them. Who will stop him?
"The 'Next' One"
Marcus Jones
5'8" 165 - PG, So.
The reigning SWAC "Freshman of the Year", returns this time to claim 1st Team All-SWAC. Nobody can keep up with him. Last year coming off the bench he had Major D1 coaches game planning on how to just "contain" him. Univ. of Alabama keeps calling his house begging him to go there. This year, he will let loose a show on the court. I would suggest double teaming him, but really all of the FAB 5 needs to be double teamed, so... Just don't let him do the move on you.
"Juwan Who-ard"
Joseph Martin
6'4" 210 - SF, Sr.
I'm sure everyone on here remembers "Helicopter Hayes". Well, HH AIN'T GOT ISHT ON JOE MARTIN. This man is relentless with his dunks. He will dunk on your momma if she stands under the goal. This is the spark plug of the FAB 5. This reminded destiny of how the original FAB 5 was when they were "glorious". Joe is on a mission this year to dunk on all the starting 5 in the SWAC, and then the starting five of the NCAA tournament 1st round. This is just "some" of the dominance that will be displayed this basketball season.
"1/2 Amazing, the other 1/2 Unbelievable"
Michael Ford
6'8" 180 - G/F, Jr.
The SWAC has never seen a player of this caliber before. He has two years to make up for (It's your fault Notre Dame), so he will be reeking havoc on all of college basketball who go face to face with him. Don't look so surprised when he does a cross-over that would break Tim Hardaway's ankles, and make Get Ready cry, then penetrates the paint for a dish, dunk, lay-up, allay, you name it. We may have to tie his shooting hand behind his back just to make it fair for y'all.
And finally,
The 5th Man
What makes this FAB 5 so magnificent? So great? So breathtaking to watch? In order to prevent an occurrence of having one person "F" up a good thing (Webber), who BTW has been cursed every since betraying destiny, the 5 slot is interchangeable. But for the same of not scaring you all, we in the Dawgpound will release just two (2) players. And trust me, they will be more than a handful this year.
"430lb. Forilla"
Chris Collins
&
Mickell Gladness
The two-headed monSTARS. They can be used in many ways. Mostly just to slow down the opponent's big men. We will rotate them in and out often. This final piece to the puzzle is all that this pre-destined team needs to shock college basketball this year, and ultimately "SAVE THE SWAC".
Yes, destiny has come out of seclusion and it is now time for a reckoning. THAT'S RIGHT!!!!!!!
We won't let you down
destiny.
