Serious question: I noticed that a lot of JSU players have suffered serious injuries in recent years. Has there been any discussion about the playing surface and field conditions at Memorial?

Could that be a potential issue?

I don't think a single player of ours got injured at Memorial within the last year. Our spring game is not held at Memorial. Memorial is a well kept field.....one of the advantages of playing on a state maintained surface. And actually, we don't normally suffer a lot of injuries at JSU. 2003 was abnormal in a lot of ways. We lost almost our entire o-line to injury back in 2000 but we have not suffered much since then.

I've always been amazed at how we have been able to keep people fairly healthy throughout the course of a season. Even during the Hughes years, when weightroom training/ conditioning was suspect, we managed to avoid the injury bug.

Last year, it all hit the fan, though. I don't believe we'll have such a problem next year. And you gotta feel bad for Chase Washington........just when he was gaining some ground. You hate to see a setback like that.

Po Mikey, Po MH (at least you did not deny reading the CL every day
LMAO@ just how moronic that statement is.
If I had read the travesty of your spring game before GR foolishly posted this topic, I would have put it on the smack board long time ago. You got to know that, right?
ASU is "head and shoulders" above you, so JSU simply aint a concern, at all!!!!!!!!!! I don't have the time or the interest to go read about a lower tier team like yours.

And as for that other spill you went on, it's downright comedy. Who in da world do you think buys that crap? According to you, every unit you got is so good. (does Hughes get credit for that?) You even bragged on your dline and secondary :smh::smh:
But it's the spring time, and just like every spring time (and summer and fall camp), every unit at JSU is supposedly "so good". And then the season starts...... :retard:

Fact is, you're coming off 2 wins (but that doesn't mean anything, right rob) and on here still popping yall chops about you being "so good". Not to mention that schedule yall have. You're looking at another long, losing season.

btw, Did yall meet with Bell again this year and let him know what teams yall really want to beat?
:scared:

mh, don't act like teams can't improve from season to season. Oh, I forget that JSU is the only team destined to get worse after a bad year. Bama State done had so many bad years, you can't count 'em, but they have somehow managed to have some good ones. But JSU can't turn anything around. GET REAL!!! Answer me this, what makes JSU's spring such a "travesty"???

And last year is last year. We were coming off 7 wins in '02, but we didn't win 7 last year. By your logic, that wouldn't happen. But then, you don't use logic when it comes to JSU. Just hate. There ain't one team in this conference we can't beat. Not one.

Robber said:

I never said that and I agree that teams can improve from season to season . That's a no brainer.
At the same time, I'm also objective enough to not go out on some flimsy limb predicting big things for a team coming off a season like JSU just had.
Is it possible that you will improve? Yes
Is it probable that you will improve to the extent that you JSU folks are making it out to be? NO!!!
Heck, it's possible that Valley and PV will play in the SCG in December? Would you say it's probable?????

Oh, I forget that JSU is the only team destined to get worse after a bad year.
snowball effect!
You better hope beyond hope that you beat Hampton in that first game. And whoever you play at home first. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what kind of atmosphere your team and Bell will face if you don't win those games. Let's not kid ourselves here.

. But then, you don't use logic when it comes to JSU. Just hate.
I don't hate JSU. Simply discussing a topic that was placed here. That's all. Besides, why would I hate JSU? Seriously, it's not like JSU has been beating ASU at anything in this century.

There ain't one team in this conference we can't beat. Not one.
There are 10 teams in the SWAC saying the same thing now.

Again, it's springtime, and for now, JSU is so good.

sorry for interrupting

mh,

2 seasons ago, Tenn. State went 2-9. Last year they were 7-4. But you say it's impossible, huh. Like I said, you post out of hate. Nothing else. Just as you keep saying about us not beating y'all this century. 4 whole games. WOW!!!

Our spring "travesty" was great for the team. When they start two-a-days, it'll only get better. I can't wait.

Nope, I never used the world impossible. Not like you to try to :spin: stuff like this.

well it's a fact, right?

Great! I'm happy for yall. Hopefully, this season JSU will at least be competitive and won't be quitting before the start of games.

MH, I guarantee you that you won't be saying this once the season started. Most of the teams on our schedule are beneath us....beginning with Hampton. I keep trying to get you to see that our first string defense last year was not that bad. The offense was the problem at first and then once the offense came around, we lost half the defense. Northwestern did not let us cross the 50 but that should tell you that they stayed on our half of the field almost the entire game and they could only get 23 points. The defense came to play. This year we return most of those original starters including a corner who went down in that game. But we have also added depth. We have three transfers along the d-line alone. Depth is what we needed becasue it was clearly evident that no team in the SWAC was very far ahead of us. You did not hear us say much about our offense last year but the offense is showing that they can move the ball and because they can, you want to criticize the defense.

well since my team is "head and shoulders" above JSU, then surely you would see why I'm not about to buy the crap you're selling. Think about it....

let's see, I saw your game against TnSt. I saw your game against FAMU and I was at your game against ASU.
So, I DEFINITELY disagree with your statement. Your defense wasn't good by any stretch of the imagination. Your dline was probably the worst I've seen in the past few years. They were real soft and got continually blown off the ball. They couldn't get any pressure on the QB. They were sooooo overmatched and overpowered!!! Seriously. Your secondary was slow and couldn't cover.

No need in mentioning your offense.

Well I did not see the ASU game but if you saw the TNState and FAMU games, then you know that it was our offense and special teams turning the ball over that gave them the advantage. TNState was not even moving the Ball on us until the 4th quarter. We dominated them for 3 quarters.

And yes, right now, BAMA Jelly is my paper champ (which is sad) but the more I learn about JSU, the more I know that we will challenge for the SWAC crown.

Dayum, you would have thought Bama State would have beaten us by more than one touchdown, the way you put it.

Go ahead and insert "we coasted through the second half" here-------------------->

.....Maybe nobody gives a isht about you pathetic pushkies.....????
It's obviously going to be same isht.....different year :vomit: :vomit: :vomit:

You lost 44-14, but yet you "dominated" them, huh? And I just checked, and they were leading 30-6 going into the 4th quarter, not to mention, they had a 91 yard drive followed by a 71 yard drive, so how did you dominate them?.....
As for FAMU, please don't sit there and act as if their QB wasn't having his way with you.

and 06,
It's the truth. We were much better than yall. We dominated the first half and coasted the 2nd.

but I digress, I KNOW that you JSU folks can't be objective, so whats the use.....

I know Mighty Hater did not use the words "I" and "objective" in the same sentence.:shame:

For you to say that that team was much better than ours gives me lofty expectations next year.
We didn't have nearly as many offensive weapons as we have now.
We didn't have any depth, but a lot of injuries.
Team morale was low.
Yet, you only won by 7 points.

If this is the same ASU team that is supposed to make a run this year, I ain't worried one bit. SWAC East Champs, at least.

We can't be objective??? Dude you on here talking about how y'all dominated us and had your way with our defense and won the game 24-17. Man your offense couldn't do a thing in the 2nd half. Oh I forgot, y'all coasted. As bad you make our defense sound, y'all put 49 on us like A&M. Now, they can say our defense was terrible.

One measure of being smalltime is when you start taking comfort in the fact of how many points you lost by!!!!!!

Yup, just like I said, yall are not objective at all.

but it's spring time, so, carry on.....

Robber said:

Our offense didn't have to do a thing. That game was over at halftime. You had been completely dominated the first half. Your dline got completely mauled, especially in the 1st half. Don't try to act like you've forgotten those 7 to 8 yards a pop. Every pop!!

mighty hornet said:

Not being smalltime at all. Just wondering how someone can say his/ her team was much better than someone else's when only a poorly thrown pass in the fourth quarter was the only deciding factor in the game.

I was not at all impressed with the team you brought to Jackson last year, and I'll say it again: if that's the best that the SWAC East has, then I ain't worried one bit.

All this talk and you haven't been able to make to the championship game since 1999. Wasn't that in the 20th century? I think this is the 21st century now, ain't it?

It's the 21st century, and YOUR WORTHLESS, LOSER, D-3 TEAM STILL AIN'T WON SHAT.

If you put this much research into that "all-star", :look: , team of scrub's called A&M, then maybe you could do something this century that you couldn't do last century ------ WIN SOMETHING.......... AND DON'T COME HERE WITH YOUR "D-8 GREAT LAKES CHAMPIONSHIP BS".

SMALLTIME MUTT'S. :smh: :smh: :smh: :retard: :retard: :retard:

Dude,
do you actually think ASU was playing at top level, against a team like yours? Especially, after it was so obvious in the early going that you couldnt stop our offense!!!!
You saw an ASU team that was coasting against an inferior team.

oh yeah, how sad of you to blame that loss on Kent's int when it was your defense that lost the game for you in the 1st half!

let's try to keep it real.

What's more real than the final score: 27-20, I believe.
I ain't convinced, whether your team half-assed thru that game or not. Hell, I can say the same about some of the guys on our team.

mighty hornet said:

We domintated them for 3 quarters. The bottom did start to fall out at the end of the third. The first half was no contest. FAMU's QB did have his way but they still had to score 3 of their 4 TD's on turnovers.

MH, I refuse to believe that if SU and Gram could not blow us out, neither could Jelly. The offense is going to carry its weight this year and that will make an already good defense better.
