He's one of the top high school football players in the country.

But the parents of Mike Hawkins Jr. say his days at Allen High School are over after a racist message was painted on the family's home.

Allen High School is a football powerhouse, beloved by the entire city. Hawkins is the star quarterback.

Why his family would become the target of a racist attack is as baffling as it is disturbing.

He's one of the top three high school quarterbacks in the state and already recruited by schools such as Alabama and OU.

Hawkins and fans of the Allen High School Eagles should be excited about his senior season.

But his family plans to move out of Allen after what happened on Dec. 28.

If he goes to a rival school district don't think for a second Allen ISD or someone at the UIL (whoever is over state sports) won't TRY to make noise about it. He had Bama wanting him.

Allen doesn't want that type of rep because all it takes is one for it cause someone who might help them win go elsewhere.

Collins County ain't nothing but klansmen in regular clothes. Allen especially is very racists and they have little respect for black people who move into the district to get their kids in "their"schools. They feel like most of them are "cheating" the system by not becoming homeowners that feed into the city's public schools. I believe the majority of the black students that are in Allen ISD live in apartments b/c the property taxes in Allen ISD are HIGH AS HELL!!

Also the white folks in Allen High are highly disturbed b/c I noticed and heard a lot of the black men (especially star athletes) are dating white girls. They'll do anything to make the town and school as hostile as possible to scare black boys from "stealing" their white daughters ... good luck with that. The more you tell young folks not to do something, they more they wanna do

I used to live a couple miles away from Allen, TX. Hated it! Everybody there seem so consumed with being perfect and fake it made me nauseous. It also seemed like all the black boys were dating white or damn near white girls. And a lot of the black girls had low self esteem b/c they were highly ignored and wished they were white

Allen was too good to me when crops occupied where those bulging homes now live 😂. A certain d-cowboy & I commuted up 75 almost daily until he tore his acl and then I met "the one" in Las Colinas. There is and was hella' talent in Allen. Owwwwwwwwwww sooky sooky. 😂👀

I would have stayed… he let whoever did it WIN. It probably was a parent or relative of someone who was in competition with him for the position…. Or even a rival who wants him at THEIR school.
Well, that is what those Black athletes did back in the 60s and 70s. I am sure they experienced a lot worse.

Not me. I do not want to be anywhere I am not wanted. I do not want to be around white folk that badly. My safety and mental health are worth far more than trying to prove something to bigots.

And, it is not just your mental health. It is the lifetime mental health of your sons and wife. You can be made of steel, but your first job as a husband/father is protector. You can provide all day without protection what is provide has zero value.
This. 👍🏿👏🏿

To be honest, I lived in Mansfield, Texas and I noticed a lot of racist things going on when we lived there. Mansfield is a nice growing area, but I just felt like Manfield, Ft. Worth, and areas north of Dallas were racist. Not saying that the whole Dallas area isn't nice. There are plenty of opportunities there. I know racism exists here in the DC metro also, but it's not as out in the open. I'm from Mississippi, so I can say that I have seen racism.

You leave to show them...that you CAN leave and to show your son that he has options with his skill to do the same anywhere else. And if you see them on the field...destroy them, embarrass them. I mean of they aren't screaming loudly FOR you, enjoy them screaming loudly and in tears when you do the DieHard walk away from them.

Mike Sr. said someone spray-painted on his garage the words "we don't need you in Allen" followed by a racial slur.

"We haven't found out who did it, but I hope they do."

Mike Sr., who is Black, says he has taken both of his biracial sons, Mike Jr. and Maliek, another member of the football team, out of Allen High School.

"This ain't about football," Mike Sr. said. "This is about the safety of my family."

So the family, law enforcement, etc. haven't confirmed who did this, but this is determined to be a credible threat? And absent those details, sale the home and move the family? I assume they or the neighbors didn't have door cams, video cams, etc.?

Half of these spray paintings be fake these days…. I BET a rival high school did it JUST to get him to transfer.

Let it be fake...

It's a bad look not just for Allen but Allen ISD and any school around there. Because all this does is OPEN the doors for others to comment about how they have been treated.

Whose to say some black kid at that rival school opens up about how he is treated there. I would not want my skeletons in the closet to become public because of some fake prank.

Especially for these schools who are already having issues with what books that have on the shelves and have opened doors to other investigations.

I think the local news here said the house was already up for sale before this happened. Maybe an earlier incident caused him to put it up before, I don't know.
