Shaquille O’Neal: All-Time Lakers Would Beat All-Time Bulls ‘By Fifty’

According to Shaquille O’Neal, his fantasy lineup of Lakers all-time greats would destroy the best historical team that the Bulls could ever assemble.

O’Neal asserts on Instagram that if he, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Elgin Baylor and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar took on Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Derrick Rose, Dennis Rodman and Horace Grant, Los Angeles would crush Chicago by fifty points.

If they do it as the All-Time great by position I would go with the Bulls. So the Lakers would have James Worthy at PF and either Shaq/Kareem at center.

If you do a full roster it is even more of an advantage for the Lakers.

I don't see how you even compare.

PG - Lakers by far
SG - Bulls
SF - Lakers but probably close
PF - Who are you playing here? Rodman or Grant (a PF, not a Center)?
C - Lakers by a country mile

I don't think so. You must have forgotten how a much smaller Isiah Thomas held his own against Magic? DRose is a much better offensive player than Isiah.

Overall as a PG you will not find a person (who isn't a Bulls fan) who thinks Rose is better than Isiah. And there's no way he could guard Magic.

The Bulls may not win, but their bench would be really good.

Kerr, Sloan, Grant/Rodman, Borewinkle, Van Lier, Kukoc, Woolridge, Walker, Carwright, Oakley.

You noticed I said offensively. DRose is way more explosive and better skills. Heck he won MVP with both LBJ and Kobe still in their prime. Isiah can run and managed a team better, but DRose would destroy him one on one.

He's not better than Zeke offensively.

They wouldn't get beat by 50. But the Lakers have more great players to choose from than the Bulls. You are talking about an all time great franchise. The Bulls are really just the Jordan era Bulls with a few good players sprinkled in before and after Jordan.

If anything it should be the Lakers greats vs the Celtics all time greats. I say this as a huge Jordan fan.

Even the 76ers may be able to assemble a better cast of characters to match up with the Lakers all time team than the Bulls. Outside of Jordan and Pippen. The rest of the Bulls cast would be at a disadvantage at the other positions.

Hell you forgot about Reggie Theus and SU great Bob Love.

I agree. Zeke would eat Rose's lunch. Pre injury or not.

When was Zeke a defensive stopper? Dumars was their stopper. No way in hell he could match Rose's athleticism. Zeke was a true point guard.

Zeke could play defense. He was not bad at all. You do realize he is the all time steals leader in Piston history. Twice as many as Joe Dumars. He is number 15 all time right behind Kobe Bryant for all time steals in NBA history. The only thing Rose has on Zeke is height. Zeke is a HOF Point Guard. At his best, Zeke was damn near unstoppable at the PG. He could score and dish assists. And no way you played for Chuck Daley without playing defense. There were no defensive liabilities on that team. Especially after Adrian Dantley got replaced by Mark Aguirre. Even made him play defense. LOL. Vinny "The Microwave" Johnson was probably their weakest defender.

Rose would have to contend with Zeke's speed and he also was not a bad rebounding point guard.

this Zeke vs. Rose debate is about as funny as Shaq blasting Scottie on Instagram. Zeke was an all around better player than Rose. He could defend, score, and dish the rock. Add that to the fact that behind that smile, Zeke was a stone cold killer. He was tough, way tougher than Rose.

As for the original question someone said it best earlier, the Lakers have a lot better All-Time roster to pick from and I would have to agree with Shaq, the Lakers would wallop the Bulls. You have to remember that in this matchup Jordan does not give the Bulls any kind of significant edge because he and Kobe almost cancel each other out. While Jordan is decidedly better than Kobe, he wouldn't be going up against Tyrone Lue out there. If Harper, in his prime, gave Jordan fits then Kobe could match him in production.

Zeke was a better facilitator and defensive player, but Rose is the better scorer and shooter. Go check the numbers. During Rose's MVP season he averaged over 25ppg. Zeke has never average that. Rose has a higher shooting and free throw percentages. Only injuries will stop him from being a first ballot HOF. You guys are significantly underestimating him.

Acquiring steals doesn't make one a great defensive player. Heck John Stockton is one of the all-time leaders and he couldn't play a lick of defense. Before injuries Rose was damn near catching alley oops off the top of the backboard, but Rose only has a size advantage? Has Zeke ever dunked in a game?

Fixed it for ya LOL

But here's the thing ... are we reflecting these all-time times with respect to what the player was during that stint of their careers?

If so, the original Charlotte Hornets/New Orleans Pelicans would have

Larry Johnson
Alonzo Mourning
Kendall Gill
Anthony Davis and a couple other cats

I'm not saying they'd win...but that would be a fun squad to watch...

Or the Golden State Warriors

Tim Hardaway Sr.
Steph Curry
Rick Barry
Chris Mullin
Chris Webber
(note: Mitch Richmond on the bench?)

Hell even the Bucks

Oscar Robertson
young Lew Alcindor/Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Or the Spurs
Iceman Gervin
David Robinson
Tim Duncan

or what about the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder
Gary Payton
Russell Westbrook
Kevin Durant
Shawn Kemp
Detlef Schrempf

What about the Knicks with

Marc Jackson
John Starks?
Allen Houston?
Patrick Ewing
Willis Reed
