Alcorn's new head coach?

man nal and its sad and this process has taken entirely too long. one thing i have learned during this process, too many people want to put their input into this and will not let the person who suppose to do their job do it. some times as an AD or Prez you have to do what you think that is best for the school cause regardless of what you do or pick, you are not gonna please everyone by no means. i love my school but we got to do a whole lot better with these types of situations.
 



Unfortunately, it looks like that's whats about to happen. You should hear something by weeks end. As for your AD, he's really not happy about the situation and will probably not be around much longer.

hold up hobson, he withdrew his name. where u get this info from? if it is him i think that wouldnt be a bad choice if its worked out. as for the AD, sometimes we got to roll with what we have and make the best of it.
 
He's still the guy...he pulled his name out to force Alcorns hand and now they are giving him what he wants.. BTW...I don't post a bunch of BS just to post...My source is right in the middle of things as they are moving.

ok im the same way. if you dont mine me asking, what all did he want that he is getting now and wasnt before?

I must agree that you are usually point with your information, but I'm still skeptical about this one. Withdrawing his name publicly only to still deal with the school behind the scenes just seems too messy. Reeks of incompetence and gives them an issue to explain to the public from the jump. Not to mention, why would a coach take a job where he has to threaten to leave in order to get anything done? Why go into a job knowing that you have to do stuff like that from the start?
 
He withdrew his name because he felt the committment/support was not there...nor was anyone willing to step up and give a concrete plan of getting such, so he took his name out of consideration. They have since come back to him with some things that he feels he can work with. As for his rationale, I don't claim to know why he's operating in this fashion. If it works for him...oh well!!!

Well, regardless of what plan they come up with, the support isn't there. It hasn't been for a long time. If his problem is fan support, financial support and administrative support, he should stay away because any last-minute "plans" are not going to work. If they would work, then the question is why haven't they been doing them all along?

I don't think we're going to see Jay Hopson as Alcorn's football coach. Just my opinion.
 
The "white" sports fans are saying that Hopson withdrew his name once he found out Boosters and Fans threatened the AD and President with serious repercussions if they hired a white coach.

Not sure if thats true, but thats what being discussed amongst white peers on sports' boards.

Now that's some funny stuff...actually the AD isn't onboard with this hire himself. That's one of the things in which has him second guessing accepting the job. He has had little to no imput on this hire.

I heard about that, and If this is true it is really sad. The man had a plan and blue print when he came for the interview, which is what the prez and most people wanted, and now that they have it, they are to busy looking at what doesnt matter (color), and keeping them from the important issue of him coming in and winning games and building up a program..He was the best canidate in the interviews and could bring alot of money to the program from what I heard. As an Alcorn Alum I hope we have contacted him back and we get him. Shit as bad as Alcorn has been the pass few years we should be begging. Some people are to damn prideful for their own good.

Ill say this on an ending note, if he becomes coach ill be at the games, no matter what the other Alum does, and hopefully if they start winning the same people who didnt want him, will be the ones all over him

I don't care if the coach is black, white, Latino, Asian, Tiger Woods Caublasian, deaf, mute, blind in one eye and missing the other (lmao), has bad breath, a club foot, a speech impediment, and three teeth in his mouth!!! If they can get Alcorn back on track and back to being a SWAC contender, I'm all for it. The rest of the SWAC could say whatever yall want about our coach but yall would also be calling him a winner!
 
No disrespect to Alcorn, but stuff like this does make our conference look bad. I'm not kicking ya'll while ya'll are down, just using this as an example. No coaching search should take this long, hell it didn't take Penn State that long and look at the foolishness they had to deal with in navigating that Sandusky mess. WE AS A CONFERENCE need to handle our business better. PERIOD. POINT. BLANK.
