It's official. Alcorn you got your wish. This game will be big. First game of the season at Independence Stadium in Shreveport though on Labor Day weekend, BIG.

I didn't know that Doug Willams and Melvin Spears were blood cousins.

That is the way it used to be every year.

Good Stuff.........That's the way I remember it, Gram and Alcorn opening the season in a battle royal. :emlaugh: Interesting enough, two SWAC alums heading their respective colleges.

It will be packed in Shreveport that weekend.

punk? Not really if they stand on making more with less expenses....for a home game you got to add staffing....if anything, they helped you all out and gave you a SC opponent that has some name recognition

Alcorn could have easily said no and made Grambling come to Lorman and still made money from this game. Grambling hasn't played in Spinks since 2007 If Alcorn would have said no thanks that would have forced GSU to find someone else but the money is something they couldn't pass up BTW you worry about other schools to much, worry about your own.

Re: Alcorn vs. Grambling may rival JSU vs. SU in SWAC Football 2011.

I think the main deal with Alcorn was, AT THIS POINT, was to get that game moved back to the first of the season like the old days. Nothing wrong with making some guranteed money the next two years for a 3 hour bus ride. Now that JSU has control of Memorial, I expect to see them move their home game back to Jack Spinks when this contract is up. They get Gram on Labor Day Weekend, SU, and JSU on campus in the same year, they will make a killing.

They won't move JSU back to Lorman becasue even if they make money off of 20K fans one year, they make nothing the next year. If Spears turns Alcorn around, the Classic goes back up to 50-55K.

JSU wants to move the game back to Thanksgiving when it's our home game anyway. Alcorn play a FBS every year so they can still make money on during the "off-year". All they have to do is raise the ticket price just like Valley did. Nobody thought Valley would move their JSU game back to Itta bena and make a profit but they do.........And have been for the last decade.

With the CCC moving the start time earlier and earlier, (1pm last year), that game is not for the fans anymore anyway. Those cheap azz promoters didn't even have the pep rally last year. I say get rid of the promoters and do our own shat.

I agree... Hell before long the game gonna be at 12.. It's them sorry arse promoters pocketing more than what they want pay the activities. That's one reason attendance has fallen way off! I can't understand why the game can't start at 6!

Re: Alcorn vs. Grambling may rival JSU vs. SU in SWAC Football 2011.

USA and Tiger.........don't get mad at me if I have friends from other schools who call and discuss these issues...if you want to be well-rounded you do research on ALL of your fellow folks so you know how to attack issues....isn't that goal if you want to move up in life?

And we're tied in with Shreveport also so we follow the same business model
