Alcorn State vs Mississippi Valley State: Game Thread - 6:00am CT

I think Valley would do great in NCAA DII Gulf South Conference. They will have two other conference members in the state, Delta State and Mississippi College.

I would like to see a guy like Henry Frazier call the shots at Valley.

I just don’t feel that Valley should call it quits until a guy who knows how to climb the hill backwards gets a shot. Let’s not forget that Valley has seen success in other sports besides football.

I truly believe that they need to water down their non conference schedule in football. I know checks are needed, but coaches who are ok with scheduling opponents for good checks usually don’t get the opportunity to stay around after dreadful seasons to see their money work.

Valley needs to schedule a weak NAIA, lower tier non SWAC FCS, and a 1 money game vs a bottom feeding MAC or MWC program before going into SWAC play. Coming into SWAC play with 2 wins could be a major boost for a traditional losing program.

Valley needs to pull a page out of Savannah State’s book and hire a fairly successful D3/D2 coach.

SSU isn’t dominating beating people at a high rate, but their new coach did make them more competitive in conference and led SSU 6 MEAC victories in his first two seasons...it’s a shame that they pulled the rug from under him this season and decided to drop to D2 going into 2019...because they actually were trending upwards, IMO.

I’m not saying that Valley’s current coach will be a failure, but I do believe that Valley should’ve searched much harder For a head coach last year.

In my opinion, MVSU hired a very good coach an he should do well given time to building the program. In my opinion its not the coaching, PV had good coaches prior to Henry Frazier. What he did well was recruit and I believe the current coach has the connections to do that at the local level.

I saw improvement in Valley last Saturday. Even the first 4 minutes of the game Valley had me very worried. Valley is going to have to develop a decent OL and DL if they want to become a threat in the SWAC They have a good QB and good WRs. However when it was apparent that Valley was no threat to run the ball, Alcorn was able to adjust on defense. Valley had 3 touchdowns. One came on Valley second possession of the game. The second came off of a punt return taken to the house in the beginning of the beginning of the 3rd quarter. The third one came with less than 2 minutes left in the game when Alcorn was already up by 40 points. After playing yall I feel sorry for whoever take yall lightly.
