Coaching.

I mean let's be honest this kid can have all the abilities in the world...but I don't believe Alcorn will have the caliber of coaching it has had over the past years. I think this will greatly impact Alcorn.

Alcorn is looking at 3rd place in the EAST right now.

On offense, they kept their coaches but lost key players.
On defense, they had a pretty heavy rotation so they should have the talent BUT they lost all of their coaches.

They got a downgrade at both the HC and the defensive staff...

And no one has yet to see where JSU has upgraded the coaching staff. So please TP when the topic of coaching comes up you should plead the FIF.

jsu staff is unproven their QB has never won anything and their defense is non existent so it seems as if they are closer to 3rd place than we are.

Staff may be unproven as a whole but most have had success in prior roles. Ivy isn't our only QB and still a healthy Ivy is better than most QBs in the Swac. Also that non existent defense held yall to only 7 points (horrible schemes last year).

Just hope that Alcorn is in the SWAC race by the time to Mighty JSU rolls down to the Reservation. We gonna make it 3 in a row! 3 peat! JSU style.

If the staff and players that Alcorn had, lost to and strugged with JSU the last two years, im pretty confident that we will beat Alcorn by 2-3 TDs this year. Im going with something like 28-10..... :D

Footman is definitely talented. I don't think anyone on here can disagree with that. I think everyone on here is saying that he has a lot of room to improve on to be called the best QB in the SWAC. AN example would be his accuracy. I believe he completed less than 45% of his passes this past season

Player, I watched that last game. Footman can run but he can't throw worth a dayum.

The whole nation saw it. He is a great athlete and can probably still beat most of the teams in the SWAC with his legs but against NCAT they made him be a thrower and he couldn't do it. JSU actually did the best job of containing him so I imagine the better coaching staffs in the SWAC will (hopefully) make him become a passer

If Footman can improve his accuracy 15-20 percent we should do fine on offence. Unless the three linemen we have to replace take longer to gel together, than we will need to run more than pass. We have couple other QBs that also can play so you never know who may rise to the top during camp.

This what we want to see if he can do this upcoming season. Having a QB run a lot can also increase the chances that an injury occurs.

Well I advise you to go watch that game again and see some of the throws he made.. I was at the game

If it's one thing I know as a Valley fan/alum that's shaky QB play lol. Peterson was a 50% passer at Coahoma and was around 50% or so his junior year at Valley so chances are if you are around that number for 3 years, you're probably not a great thrower. He can make A good throw (see at JSU 2014) but as with a lot of SWAC QBs it's about consistency. Ivy is probably the most consistent returning QB in the league.

Dude was missing some wide open throws. As someone posted, 14/36 is not good at all even for the SWAC. He's got to get that percentage up. If Alcorn plays Bethune in September, that's going to be an early test for him

Well, that means yall will finish below Valley.
