Alcorn Halftime vs Miss. State

Do yall know the stuff that Alcorn has gone through with these PWC games/crowds? If not, then it would be best that you all keep quiet. I can tell you right now without even looking at the show that, due to past events, that show was dumbed down/played safe because of who the band was peforming in front of.

True.

I was there. They played to the audience. The MSU crowd typically goes to the concession stands and restrooms during halftime. On Saturday, they stayed until after Alcorn played and were seemingly appreciative.

The show was fine.

The crowd applauded during some parts of the show. Most of the applause came when the show was over.

You have to remember that the crowd was 90 - 95% MSU fans. This only the second time they have seen a HBCU band. It's unrealistic to expect them to react the way a SWAC audience would.

I think they performed well.

Well i'm just used to going to games when we play PWC's and hearing house through the entire show. No smack on Alcorn.

I don't even want to watch it but I did watch the Alcorn halftime from the USM game last year and I was quite unimpressed. They didn't even dance. Just did a drill, used the twirlers, the GG's and then marched off. It was sad.

Not dancing don't make a field show sad...

When we were there, the atmosphere was strange but good. I really wasn't ready for folks to openly walk up with cameras in hand saying that they were glad the Boom (Jackson State's band as they put it... LOL) was there b/c they were looking forward to seeing the band perform. It was also funny to see camera flashes going off when the band marched in. One MSU supporter said that they understood that it was an HBCU band and all. But afterwards, said that the stadium feel was simular to when LSU brings their band to town.

Well, considering that Alcorn can't march and sounded like schitt on a stick, they needed something to get the crowd excited. Even the GG's sucked. Go see for yourself. They needed to dance to save that show.

Ummmm, thats the same show they did last week at Alcorn, vs Bama State (minus the "Drum Majors spraying a dressed up Honey Bee with water guns" Skit)
was that show DUMBED down because it was played in front of Alcornites on High School Day?

you might wanna watch the show first

I was there on Saturday and the band did great. Good clean show. Now, with the show being recycled, it is what it is.

Go Braves!

S.O.D. needs work. On a scale1 to 10, 10 being the best, they are a 4.5 including sound, execution, and energy. The drum majors get worst as there name changes. From the Fantastic 4, to the 4 funky flocka Flames (where is your identity). DM's, stick to one title and have unity in the routine and marching style. New guys keep up or quit! Where is the musicianship, Where is the energy? Is the thrill really gone, SOD? Golden Girls, you are the Renowned Golden Girls, but you look Gold Plated (dance, style, & appearance). T.O.P, I know you play a cadence called Lazy, but why are you playing sloppy? You’re only a reflection of leadership (Semaj) and strong as the weakest link? Purple Flashers, put the flags down and get on your horns, golden girls you will never be. Griff, get right better yet time for you to retire, S.O.D. has fallen off and the problems are from the top to the tail. You have fought the good fight. It's time to pass the torch. S.O.D it is time to rise up and get better. Stop making excuses for poor bandmanship and musicianship. Stop trying to be the boom, the jukebox, M4, the storm, the ocean, and etc. You will never be them, but you can rise up an always and forever be the SOUNDS OF DYN-O-MITE !!!!! :upset::upset::upset:
