by far, the funniest staff in the SWAC to watch. Coach Jackson and that male assistant get into those girls head they and they perform. I was waiting for one of them to make a mistake so I could laugh.

They are probably the best coached team in the SWAC and one of the most complete. Those girls can shoot outside and big Kitt will pound you on the inside. Kitt is still raw in her post play but she is better than Williams from Jackson State.

Wonder why that male coach from Alabama State hasn't received a head job? He looks like he has done some teaching up there.

I agree that Coach Freda is definitely something to watch. ;)

That walk of hers when she gets mad. LOL

but she's a damn good coach and recruiter. In the time she's been head coach, ASU has become the top program in the SWAC.

as far as Clayton Harris (the asst. coach), he was a finalist for the A&M job a couple of years ago, but they chose someone else.

here's an article from yesterday's paper about Freda

Freeman-Jackson continues to win

Freda Freeman-Jackson has turned the ASU women's basketball program around by stressing a team philosophy.
-- Special to the Advertiser

With a victory over Texas Southern Saturday night, Alabama State head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson became ASU's all-time winningest women's basketball coach.

It's a rather remarkable accomplishment.

After all, Freeman-Jackson is in just her sixth season at the school. And 108 wins at ASU -- a school that struggled to beat anybody a few years ago -- is an impressive feat.

But Freeman-Jackson really doesn't want to talk about it.

Freda be getting in those girls azzes. I felt sorry for one of 'em in Jackson. But then she came back to help lead that last minute comeback. They really respond to her.

Freda is clearly the 2nd best women's coach in the SWAC. :D

Nothing remains to be seen, Freda has proven her worth since she's been HC.

MH, how many years has she been in the SWAC and how many championships has she won?? Taylor has been in the SWAC for only two years and she is almost guaranteed at least a tie this year if you all beat us. If she coaches you all past Grambling and JSU back to back....she deserves a title this year. I was thinking that the SU coach was going to be a force for a while.

TP,
She's been HC for 6 years.

All winning seasons
3 20 win seasons
1 Regular season title (going for 2nd in a row this wknd, after losing 3 starters last year and battling through 3 starters being injured this year)
1 Tournament championship
1 runner up finish
landed a bona fied, top notch blue chip recruit in Kitt
whooped both Alabama and UAB
in all likelihood, will have a different Player of the Year in successive years

Coach Freda tripped me the L out chewing those girls out in Jackson! I thought they were about to cry the way she was getting into'em. She damn near stomped a hole into our floor goin' off on folks. Players, refs, whoever wanted it with her. Better than Coach Taylor? I don't think so, but a good one nonetheless.

Yup, that's Freda!!!!
Stomping and strutting! Usually dressed out too.
:D

What has Taylor won??

Coach Taylor is the best. In just her 3rd year, she has 1 regular season title and controls her own destiny to her 2nd. And God knows JSU lady's basketball ain't been nothing for years.

Until Taylor can win something, she aint on Freda's level! Besides, isn't this Wms. senior year? and JSU will have a fall off next year.
Most of the Lady Hornets will be back next year, including Kitt!

well, Freda controls her own destiny too.
:D

MH,

I am willing to be that pound for pound, Taylor can out recruit the ASU coach. We shall see about this fall off when Williams leaves. I don't think so...we played well even in Taylors first year when I don't think we even had Williams on the team.

Who has she recruited?????

I just looked at the archives. JSU finished in 5th place that year. If that's playing "well" to you, so be it.

congrats to her for that.
But has she even made it to the championship game in the tournament?

We'll do just fine without Amie. We have five players in our rotation that are playing their first year at JSU. We have tons of experience coming back along with some talented signees.

Amie has a tendency to take plays off, and when she does, it hurts us more than help us. Actually it is our PG Lee who will be missed more than Williams, but Shante Stafford is getting significant time this year and will fill in admirably. Frosh's Lindsey Dukes and Shalita Burns will step up to the plate for Amie.

The cupboard is far from bare. Throw in some impact newcomers and we are looking good once again.

And it'll take a whole lot for me to believe that Freda is a better recruiter than Taylor. She's landed every recruit she went after thus far except for one- and we barely lost her to Georgia Tech.

Coach Taylor is the best coach in the SWAC. 2 20 win seasons and 2 regular season titles in her first 3 years is proof of this.

she aint won 2 titles, she's shared one
and she aint even got to the championship of the tournament.

Also, Freda has beat Taylor 4 out of 5, head to head, has always finished ahead of Taylor in the regular season and has always done better than Taylor in the tournament!!!

case closed!

She's only finished ahead of her once in the regular season, Tyalor's first year. Also, she's had 6 years to put her stamp on the program, Taylor's only had 3. Finally, after this weekend, Taylor will have had 2 titles in her first 3 years.

And again, Taylor has NEVER finished ahead of Freda in the regular season. If yall were smart, yall wouldn't be so quick to say what's gon happen this wknd. After all, ASU has already been to Jackson and beat you there.

btw, I see none of you JSU folks have mentioned ANYTHING about the performance in the tournament, as if that doesn't count!

Don't come passing off a 3 year coach who hasn't even seen the tournament finals as the best in the league.

If winning the tournament is the only criteria, then neither of them comes out ahead. Your coach has only won 1 in 5 years, not exactly what I'd call dominant. Taylor is just getting started in this league. By her 6th year, there won't be any question who's the best coach.

LMAO@the way you backed up off that one and now you're able to predict what your coach will be doing in her 6th year.

No, winning the tournament aint the only criteria, but you'll be kidding yourself if you deny that its not part of the criteria.

Since Taylor has been at JSU for 2 full seasons, this is what Freda has done in that time

finished first in the regular season
finished second in the regular season
finished first in the tournament
finished 2nd in the tournament
had 2 20 win seasons,
had Player of the Year
beaten teams from the SEC and Conference USA

now please show me what Taylor has done to top that!

I mean, it's alright if yall like Taylor, but she simply has not passed Freda. Any objective person could see that.
