Alabama State Wins SWAC Indoor Track and Field Championship Title

The Alabama State Hornets claimed the 2023 Southwestern Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship title in what was a highly competitive final day of events hosted on Friday afternoon at the Birmingham CrossPlex

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Alabama State Hornets claimed the 2023 Southwestern Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Championship title in what was a highly competitive final day of events hosted on Friday afternoon at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The Hornets posted several impressive performances across multiple events contested at the championship meet while amassing a total of 123 points.

The SWAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field title was decided during the final event to conclude at the meet as Alabama State’s Isiah Palmer placed third in the pole vault with a mark of 4.25m to help secure the title for ASU.

Alabama State’s trio of Joshua Knox, Kendrick Winfield, and Jamarion Stubbs finished in first, second and third place in the 400-meter-dash subsequently giving ASU 24 total points.
 
Bama State took the championship from JSU on the very last event of the meet. Props to Bama State. Looking forward to the outdoors T&F meets.

And it was all thanks to Isiah Palmer, their pole vaulter who finished 3rd in the event to give the men the win.

Had a chance to call that meet with Coach TJ Williams and we had a great time. But we spent almost 90 minutes on that pole vault competition which became challenging at one point. But it was a great experience.
