I'm sorry but if that happens our AD should have to go, no way after all we gone through we haven't put a system in place that if there is a budget cut/people cut we don't have a computerize system of some sort in place, more than one person need to know how to do the job damn people it is not that hard!

Easier said than done...

I'm saying if a new president comes on board and says our athletic administration staff has too many FTEs or salaries are too high and eliminates positions (beyond the control of the AD) and think we can get away with (for example) 2.0 FTE rather than 4.0 FTE in the Athletic Compliance Dept. then things could get bogged down and two 2 full time employees can become overworked and things will get missed and even overlooked and as a result, data that gets to the NCAA is incorrect which will put us on notice.

A new president could think we are overpaying for an individual, that individual leaves and the salary is slashed in half which could more than likely result in a less knowledgeable person in charge and not abreast of all the nuances the NCAA rule book includes then things become overlooked and missed then we have a NCAA issue.

In essence, despite what infrastructure an AD implements before he/she departs from an institution, it only takes ONE person to come in and cut corners and de-emphasize that infrastructure then we are back in a bad predicament.

You'd be surprise how much one person knows and when they go a drop occurs either that person was a control freak or they were so passionate about the job they did more than normal and went above and beyond

You hire someone without that passion and then you see a fall off

Exactly!

It doesn't help that almost all presidents are academics at heart. Most academics couldn't care less about athletics. Especially if it's not supplying a big portion of profits to academics like some P5 schools do.

That's why we have been so lucky to have a president who loves athletics the way Dr. Rudley does.

I don't understand how a university can meet APR standards for the years in question and later the school is placed on probation. I would like to know if the same office who did approved the APR is the same office who is asking for additional data. I thought we had an excellent compliance staff. According to the news, AAMU must submit new numbers by August 15, 2016.

One word:

Enron.

Question AAMU:

Are People with MEAC Backgrounds (rather Alumni or previously working MEAC Athletic Departments) running your Athletic Department?

Man, I got a different take on APR talking to some scouts last week. They all felt APR was bogus and only really punished us because we can't hide isht like the big boys.

Ha......that's no big revelations. We have been saying that since day one when they started by coming after sTu. I also posted an article where the guy who created Apr said it isn't being used as it was meant to be several years ago.

Leadership has to be willing to adapt to the current environment. If HBCUs are going to have D1 programs, they're going to accept the need for easy majors for athletes. Otherwise, every underfunded HBCU will be playing musical chairs with the NCAA over APR issues.

SU never found their data so the NCAA just gave up... Like we said in the case of Missing Data at SU, if you have the data, you will just turn it in. It don't take all this. We knew SU didn't have it... just like AAMU don't have it.

At times like this, I shole miss that rolling :lmao:

Phi you sick lmao

All 9 of you need to take 2016-17 off because S.U. will swep easily next year in men's basketball, baseball, track and football. Not one of your schools stand a chance but in gulf and tennis.

I know we discussed it..it was interesting hearing some people who deal with athletic departments on every level. They were basically like everyone got dumb athletes. We just dont have dumb classes..

Someone mentioned that the PWCs prop up their APR with kids who make good grades but don't have a prayer of ever getting playing time. Well, I could have sworn when Alabama entered the field for he championship game I saw a kid (white) who looked like he weighed maybe a buck fifty with the number 96 running with the team. The camera did not focus on him long at all.

If we want in the game we are going to have to play the game.

Dang I wouldn't go that far. But for me I'm still trying to figure out how the schools gave the power to the ncca to be able to dictate when a student graduates.

I mean at the end of the day they only have 4 years of eligibility anyway unless granted some special exemption. So what does this accomplish other the damage for the low resource schools..

Doesn't A&M offer a General Studies degree? The NCAA is making our athletes become students if they want to play. Some only view themselves as an athlete instead of being a student. Coaches can no longer take chances on borderline students by giving them any form of financial aid. Competent staffing with structure is required.

That's what I've said too many times. Is the running back at University of Texas smarter than the running back at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff?

Being that Texas A&M and University of Texas only admit high school students whom graduated within the top 10% of their graduating class, if Ricky Seals Jones was not a star receiver for the Aggies would he have been admitted into TAMU?
