TNSU might not have aspirations for the SWAC, but being an HBCU is historical fact. TNSU is an interesting study. I can't think of any HBCU, over the last twenty-five years, that has had white folks foot consistently on their neck more than TNSU.

The gross level of underfunding, and the very public rebukes by that red state legislature are something.

I can't believe it's been 15 years since A&M and TNSU has played. This is a shame. We both are less than 90 miles away from each other. talking about making sense to play each other and save both schools money!

Growing up and being more exposed to HBCUs by my peeps, I used to always wonder the same thing. I was always mesmerized when I heard the names John Merritt, Eldridge Dickey, Joe Gilliam Sr. and Jr., and the list goes on...

With the above being said, I remember a brief period in the mid-80s when the TSU-AAMU series was renewed. TSU football was still considered elite not just among HBCUs but at the 1-AA level but AAMU started to gain more victories against them. When TSU officially joined the OVC, the series was stopped.

Fast forward to AAMU leveling up to 1-AA and joining the SWAC, the series was renewed. I really felt that they didn't think AAMU would be as competitive as we had been against them. At first L.C. Cole had them balling but eventually and once again we started to obtain more victories against them, even within their own classic named after John Merritt. Then just like that, the series stopped.

If we keep winning again, will they allow this current series to keep going?
