AFTERMATH:The Bayou Classic BOTB

GSU #1 in MS

Freshman
I must say, good job to both bands. I knew the G had it in them, but I didn't know they had it in them. Either way, yall both showed out. SU, I must say the only thing I didn't like about yall performance was the singer. Other than that, the whole battle was a true battle. What's yall take?

YES THEY DID!!!! IT DOESN'T PAY TO UPLIFT YOURSELF AND TRY TO DOWN OTHERS ALL THE TIME, AND TALK SHAT!!!! THEY HAVE BEEN DOING THAT ALL YEAR ON HERE AND GOT BOOED!!!!:lmao::lmao:

I agree with you. Both bands did great for the most part. SU was bringing it! GSU was bringing it!

The only low mark for SU was the soloist on the old school number; it was not her best performance, that is for sure.
And like an Apollo crowd, the crowd gave her and SU the booooos. But hey, this can and does happen.

As for Gram, the only thing that was a disgrace from them was the introduction of a "gospel" song and then
the lead dancer starts popping and gyrating and straight up "pole dancing". I was just glad that the other dancers
did not follow her lead. I wish y'all could have seen the looks on folks faces....:smh:

Again though, great battle! GSU looked and sounded a lot better than in years past.

SU, well, you know, they did what they do. And for the record, and not that I need this validation.......
the "real time" scoring from the crowd showed that SU was the favorite band among the voters last night.

Oh well, time to get back out into the city......"I'll Holla"!

SU got booed during the soloist feature but Gram got booed quite a few times. The battle was better this year cause Gram at least put up a fight.

:pimp: Now, give the G they props. I told all week, you talk stuff and it bit you in the tail. The G actually held up very well. Be amazing to see what happens at the game.

Dude I said they put up a fight. In no form or fashion did Gram come away with a "W". Ya'll were not in the same ballpark but ya'll didn't just lay down like last year.

P.Jag, why did they boo her? Was it the song selection she sang? Or was it that she just couldnt sing?

Man, I hope she is alright, cause I know she had to be embarrassed...

Ole girl got booed...that wasn't no big thing compared to the beating SU band put on GSU.. this is the best Ive heard GSU in a while though.

I can answer that for you. They booed her because she messed up on the very first "run" of the song.
After that, she never recovered, but she did not turn tail and run....I give her a thumbs up for that...
But bottom line, she did not sound good, and to me, it did not seem that she believed she was ready to do that song. I did not see or hear any self-confidence.

Gram got booed when second they came out in those white Tux's. When they came out, the section I was sitting in yelled...

"That's so Country!"
clap, clap,
clap, clap clap...

:lmao:

They got booed after Cupid, Soulja Boi and Hurricane Chris came out.

PS...Gram...you're not supposed to where white after Labor Day.

:swink:

This was the best I heard SU all Season... I mean SU is Pretty Good All the TIme.. but Damn...
The booing was not at the band but the singing with the band...
Gram.. sounded okay... but I never expect much from GSU.....And the expectations didnt change much...

Thanks for the recap bruh.

The Battle of the Bands is never about Grambling......it is always about how well the Jukebox can entertain the croud.......The "World Shamed" just happens to be there whie the Jukebox is performing, the "world shamed" is just there to give the jukebox a breather between songs......there is no battle......hell when was the last time Grambling even came close.......we tried our best to give them a chance this year, with Mr. J's bad play call, but even that wasn't enough....and even with the little ground they may have made up by at least putting up a fight.....they gave it all back Saturday at halftime.....when they surrendered by waving all that white......The "World Shamed" dun changed into.............."The Average White Band"......sad....sad....sad.....

Well I would like to just offer my unbiased opinion. First of all I would like you all to know that I am not a "bandhead", so I'm not an expert on bands. I'm just a fan of marching bands, and I love to hear good music.

Anyway, I want to say that both bands did a great job Friday night. I really enjoyed the entire show.

GSU: I thought they sounded great which surprised me. I thought they did a much better job than last year. I would say that they did a great job of not backing down, and fighting when you know that you are going into enemy territory. I mean the crowd is always 80% jags, so you know the crowd is going to be against whatever they do, good or not. Hell they got booed coming through the damn tunnel, so how can you expect to be given a fair and objective chance to show what you got. But I think they performed well.

SU: The juke was the juke. Plain and simple. They sounded great, they were powerful, and they were clean. They had the crowd in their back pocket (as usual) from the beginning, but from what I saw, after they brought the girl out to sing and she got booed loudly, they lost the crowd, and never quite got them back.

That's just my observation.............I'm out.
