After recruiting and looking at our schedule (JSU) if our defense keeps on playing how they have and our offense steps up this season I can see a possible 6 win season maybe 7 if we really play
 
Southern's really been stable at the QB position for like six years with Dray Joseph and Austin Howard. This spring (our first spring football in four years) will be interesting with a QB competition between the QBs on the roster and incoming JUCO transfer Ladarius Skelton. As I tell everyone, our success this upcoming season depends on how well the offense jells with a new QB. We're probably going to do more RPOs and running with the QB because the guys we have on the roster, along with Skelton, fits that dual-threat mold than Joseph and Howard.

Gonna be hard to replace Danny Johnson and Aaron Tiller on defense. Worm'nem don't mind throwing a freshman into the deep water, and maybe someone we haven't heard of steps in and solidify the pass rush and corner spots.

Worm told the audience during the recruiting bash that the staff is projecting only having six seniors on the roster after the 2018 season, which counteracts the fact of the next cycle being our first in years with the full allotment of scholarships.
 



Should win at least 7 games this upcoming season. We were young on offense last season. Have some WRs coming in that are expected to come in and make an immediate impact. All of our RBs from last season will be back. We lose a few on the OL but returned about 3 starters and have a transfer coming in that should be a starter. On defense, we lose both starting CBs but have two CBs that will step up and shouldn't miss a beat. Eley and staff recruited a lot of DEs. Hopefully we can put more pressure on QB's the upcoming season. We signed a placekicker and punter to go along with the kicker we had last season.

That 7 win mark is going to be tough. opening with tuskegee. @ kennesaw state @ south alabama @ auburn. if the hornets don't beat tuskegee they'd have to go undefeated in the swac to win 7.

As for the wr's, they might be great, qb's got to be able to activate them. can tjack share enough wisdom to get those guys going?

Sidenote. Will there be a turkey day classic this year? no room on the schedule for another OOC opponent. I assume they are trying to talk valley into playing a week later on Turkey day. What has anyone heard.

KSU and TU are games that we definitely should have won last year. QB play should definitely be better especially with the new QB that's supposed to be coming. There will be a TDC.

Nah man. We're just trying to compete, that's all. Too many moving parts to give an accurate assessment. We'll find out what we have after game #1 vs rice.

I think y’all will have to wait until the NCCU game to assess your team and what type of year you might have. PV has a rough schedule, but the NCCU game will at least show y’all where you are in competition with the HBCU elites.
 
JSU can't make any predictions at this point.....

We wont know til THEE fall but we either gonna do this or we aint... and if we aint. Hughes is out and JSU will be back in control of our own program!
