PETTAWAY, TROTTER HONORED
Post-season honors 03/01/05
The Alabama A&M men?s basketball program recently received a boost as head coach Vann Pettaway and guard Obie Trotter were honored by CollegeInsider.com.
Pettaway in his 19th season at the helm of the Bulldogs was named CollegeInsider.com Conference Coach of the Year. He has guided the program to a 15-11 overall mark (with two games remaining) and first place in the SWAC. The five-time SIAC Coach of the Year has guided the Bulldogs to three tournament appearances in four opportunities since entering the SWAC.
Guard Obie Trotter (6-foot-1, 180-lb., Robertsdale, AL) leads the team in several categories. He is averaging 15.1 points (1st team, 4th in SWAC), 5.0 rebounds (3rd team, 15th in SWAC), 41.5 % field goal shooting (13th in SWAC), 4.69 assists (2nd in SWAC), 3.73 steals (1st in SWAC and NCAA), and 36.6 % 3-point shooting (4th in SWAC). He was a member of the first-team all-conference and all-tournament teams in the 2003-04 season and was a preseason first-team and defensive player of the year selection this season.
