HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) -- Ashley Robinson scored 23 points as Mississippi Valley State beat Alabama A&M 81-65 Monday night.

MVSU (4-7) fielded seven players, and four of them scored in double figures over Alabama A&M (4-4).

The others were D'Jamel Jackson with 20 points, Attarrius Norwood with 16 and Willie Neal with 10.

MVSU built on a 35-26 halftime lead by making 46 percent of its 3-pointers (6-of-13) and 47 percent of its field goals (17-of-36).

Alabama A&M came up short on rebounds, grabbing 44 to MVSU's 52.

While MVSU shot more accurately than Alabama A&M, it also had more steals (13-10) and assists (13-7).

Desmond Cambridge scored 21 for Alabama A&M. No one else scored more than 9.



I thought ya'll were supposed to be tearing up the SWAC?

Like I said on the sports board.... MVSU put a VERY GOOD ZONE defense of AAMU and AAMU didnt get a good shot off the whole game. MVSU WASNT MISSING ANY 3 POINTERS. Valley led by 21 with 10 minutes left in the first half. AAMU came back and cut it down to ONE, then Valley started back hitting the 3's. It was the second worst game I have seen AAMU play in my life at Elmore.

Mighty Hornet... we dont lose at Elmore OFTEN.... just look at Pettaway's record at Elmore..... 197-24 over the last 16 years. Show me another HBCU record in America that is better than that.

more than that National high school coach of the year coach have. Cant cut the mustard? We lost TWO damn conference games in the BEGINNING of the season. One on a buzzer beater. Pettaway is better than ANY COACH Texas SO has ever had. His recrod speaks for itself.

What does leading the nation in scoring have to do with coaching? But since you asked we havent had anybody lead the nation in scoring. Des was second in the nation in steals last year and is leading the NCAA in steals this year.

We have made 7 NCAA tournament appearences in Pettaway's 15 years.

4 ELITE 8 APPREARENCES

Pettaway has a 326-121 record at AAMU. An almost PERFECT graduation rate over the last decade. A 197-24 home record over 16 years. Overall record aginst SWAC teams is 67-27.
