That would be great for the area but it would mean nothing if those businesses dont pour it back into the schools. What does the local govt do for them now?

The County and city give a combined $500k to each institution.
 



I think he was asking. What are the hustle businesses going to pour back into the schools? We know city and county government pour another million dollars into the pot for splitting between each school in Birmingham.
I don't think any other FCS. Schools can say they get 1.7 million dollars in a year for one game.

Parents of students work at these local businesses. Spouses of faculty and admin work at these local businesses. Alum and friends of AAMU/ASU own some of these local businesses. AAMU and ASU are local entities. Do they not also have established relationships with local businesses that could yield increased sponsorship dollars for because of the added impact? Separate negotiations need to and should be had with the local govt to supplement whatever money that might be lost by bringing the game back home. I'm not saying this is the solution. Keeping the game in Birmingham could ultimately be the best decision. I just think it makes sense to consider what the other options look like and who could benefit outside of the payments made directly to the schools.

Short answer... not $1.2M.
In a perfect world, I get your point but AAMU doesnt support football like that so sponsors are not beating down their doors. Maybe they can change that.

The audacity comes from FINALLY having people in place that have a business mindset. Why do hotels that can't book flies 9 months out of the year have outrageous rates 5 weekends over the other 3 months?

Well what about people who can draw an average of 44,000 that still can not convince the city to purchase a new stadium, repair the roads nor provide the basic necessities such as water? Sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone and question the powers to be, WHY! If all of the nearby cities have the necessities, why not the 44,000. I know you can make a difference, my good friend....

DaHill besides Mighty Dog and TV Sportsguy would have the best knowledge of what is going on at AAMU. I trust that he will keep whatever he knows private.
