watching SU isn't worth $28 either...ain't like you have a roster full of 1st round draft picks

if I want to pay for the talent on the field, might as well support GSU and the old JSU teams with Morris and Anderson...those teams had more talent than SU has recently.

I disagree with you. Further, The Nation knows what the increase is for and will pay those prices. I think we pay more than that to play Jackson State in the dome. And I know my Bayou Classic ticket was $40.00.

Some people just don't get how butt backwards we are (smaller schools) in terms of athletics.

I kind of excuse them for just not knowing. Hell a few years back in Houston we had 33,000 at the game and 30K was from S.U. They don't support their football program and the devalue speaks volumes to me. Thus, the type of comments and mind set. We have to come to the realization that a lot of these programs don't have the number of fans and alums that take pride the way that we do for what ever reason. That is one of the reasons that I liked the old 7 game SWAC mandate. This afforded our schools the opportunity to schedule teams out of conference where we could make MONEY by A) getting a hefty guarantee or B) Schedule a one home game contract to maximize our revenues. I don't won't to digress too much from the original topic.

Would you pay $28 for a TSU home game if you thought it could afford TSU its own stadium?

I believe the bands should be across from each other...on the 20 or so..lets be honest..half those games won't sell out anyway and putting the band in Bermuda won't solve any problems..folks will still pick and choose their games.

but the real loser is the opposing fan, especially the student...they will have to come off of $30 bucks each just to see their team play and then they have to sit in some bad seats. Say its PV and TSU at Mumford vs SU

$30 for ticket
$50 for gas (roundtrip) carpool
$20 for food (if you don't eat more than twice) pack a lunch
$10 for parking changes are for reserved parking...others will still be $5...but also...carpool
$50 for hotel goes with the carpool...or drive back

$160 bucks for a measly trip to Baton Rouge

we have 2 games in Reliant Stadium and top price is $26

If you can't afford the trip (only difference from previous years will be the $10 extra on tickets), don't go.

Jag...obviously you don't know me, if Prairie View rolls into town...I don't need to pay for a ticket or worry about lodging or food in Baton Rouge, if I come as an average fan, I still have ways...

I'm speaking for the average fan or student who wishes to support their school who can't get the carpool and turnaround trips aren't feasible

add an extra $20 for gas...almost $200 bucks for the weekend...wait, I forgot to add rental car..$20 per day minimum $240 for the weekend...damn

I don't see many Jag fans making that trip week-in and week out unless the schedule is top-notch and the team is killer...

go on and sell me your season tickets for games you ain't coming to....

D-Town....nevermind....

That may be true if we were talking about PV  but we're talking about the Nation. Not to mention we're coming off a Championship season and the team is looking as good if not better than last year. The rise in the price will not be a factor.

You Jags know better than anyone if the ticket boost will be a problem. If you're anything like me, it won't matter. After a 2-10 season, I'd still pay double the current ticket price to go see JSU play. Do y'all thang.

Don't rent a car...and gas is more if you stay in town or not. I was talking about the TSU students you were supposedly speaking for, not you.

Just noticing this...that was a FAMU game, so it was not about the competition...I was looking forward to that game. I just had to choose the right thing...that or a church function.

Exactly Robber. Support, regardless.
I can't stand to hear someone that is not a season ticket holder and cross country follower complain.

You know who you are. Pay to complain. :smh:

Not picking at you personally, but I think one reason ticket prices have to be increased is that there are too many folks getting in on "hookups" and not forking over the 20 or so bucks to get in the damm game like regular people.

The A # 1 reason tickets are being increased is because there aren't enough people giving money to the program in addition to buying game tickets. And like I said, some folks don't even do that.

I sat close by a dude last year at 3-4 SU games that said he has never paid for a ticket in Mumford Stadium. smh

You ain't neva lied on this one. I have had numerous offers to let me slide through a gate, and I always decline. I buy season tickets every year and won't stop until I'm gone.

I am going to say it this way and I truly hope you understand.

If you support your school in more ways than athletics, maybe you will start recognizing gouging. When I get to the point that I feel like people have no concern about a fair price for the product I will not buy or participate. My experience in dealing with those who do not worry about prices is that they will support any price increase, but will not show up to support the activity. Most organizations will raise the price of an event from $15.00 to $50.00 and never attend the event or purchase a ticket, but they want to know how was the money spent. How many times have you raised dues in your organization and the same core people are always there, but the ones who were so vocal cannot afford to pay the increase and drop out.

Even though I can afford any price that the average Joe pays, I have to evaluate each increase to determine if it is in my best interest.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

Maybe you're missing this but the price increase doesn't have anything to do with you or anyone outside of the SU family. If you don't want to pay then don't, that will just be one more seat for a JaguarNation fan

SU is the only show in town therefore your followers will pay any price. If SU and GSU are making all this money year after year, where is it going. I am asking based on the comments I have read on the board. Doug could not get practice fields and the list goes on and on.

where is it going? good question? Baseball doesn't have bathrooms yet, the football field issue didn't hit the numbers they thought and they have to raise tickets just to finish the horseshoe...the basketball upgrades haven't paid off because the crowds are still sparse...

show me the money!

as for Grambling....Doug fought for 20% and was laughed at....

Memo to Jags....I will be happy to accept your tickets......and like MD said, that's their equivalent to pro sports in Baton Rouge...most of the Houston Jags forgoe season NFL tickets for SU tickets

you try to charge $28 in Texas...please...these same loudmouths who applaud the effort ain't gonna show up.case in point was the Toyota Center game...hell, the baseball tournament was free and they didn't show.

It's bad business to raise ticket price for a school that stays in the top ten of attendance every year, but it's good business practice to build a brand new stadium built for a school that stays ranked among the lowest attendance in in country every year and only comes out to one game which isn't played in their home town.

99 Prairie View Games 3, Total att. 9,455, Avg. att. 3,152, Drop-off att.-5,155

I've noticed that only people from outside of the Big 3 are saying something negative.

The envy and jealousy is so transparent. Let's keep it real, these programs are beneath SUperiority and instead of emulating they use poisonous tongues in a feeble attempt to feel important. Someone needs to reiterate to them "it is not the hand that you were dealt but rather how you play it"(paraphrasing). You smaller programs need to "get yourselves some business."

You are not a dumb guy so I'm going to guess that you are just trying to stir up our emotions. How can you say that the dome renovations did not pay off? The mini dome was leaking horribly, the seats were old and falling apart, the fire codes weren't up to standards because most things were still back in the 70's when the dome was first build, the women's basketball team didn't have their own showers since the dome was built before Title 9 and on and on. Do you really think that SU upgraded the dome for increased attendance? The dome was renovated to bring it up to standards and make our student athletes more comfortable. Ask our Women's team if this was a waste. I'm sure they are loving their own facilities complete with a lounge area to relax before the games. Ask the hand full of fans that attended and didn't have to worry about water leaking on their heads. The bulk of the finanancing was from the state anyway so how was this a waste for SU?

As for the other comments about the ticket increase. Each fan will have to evaluate their personal situation and decide if they can come. This may be harder for some than others but the bottom line is that we can come up with the extra $12.00 if we want to. This doesn't matter if we live out of town or live in Baton Rouge. If we want to go to the game we will save the money and go. Some folks may make this adjustment by cutting back on excessive road travel. Personally, I don't care if fewer Jags hit the road if it is because we are taking care of home first. I plan to be in the house with ZN and my kiddies. We are willing to absorb the additional $48.00 per game and won't cut back on our home game attendance to accomplish this.

Most people that I have talked to about the increase said that they don't mind paying the extra if they can see the results in a fine facility for our team.
