A shell of a stadium: the demise of Morris Brown's Herndon Stadium

Nope, just know you don't know what ypu're talking about. Really? You can tell what school all of those kids attended based on how they looked? You my friend are a......eerrrhhh not telling the truth. :emlaugh:

We have talked about the "typecasting" that goes on in the AUC before in this forum. I agree that Morehouse and Spelman recruit students with higher GPA(s) on a percetage baisis. However, I have met and seen some unsavory folks from every school in the AUC. What I also know is you had kids at MBC during the time that you're speaking of that did't give CAU a thought and went straight to Morehouse ad Spelman when MBC had their accreditation issues. That's not to say there wasn't kids that went to CAU or Georgia State among other places. While I agree that there were some "thugs" at MBC, they did not hold a monopoly on that in the AUC.

Truth be told he's not far off at all and I was at the AUC nearly everyday when I had a chick over there. It most definitely wasn't hard to tell who went to Spelman/Morehouse vs Morris Brown.

We'll have to agree to disagree..........I have spent years daily in that area and see things totally different, particularly in the late 90's to mid 2000's. BTW, the comparison was CAU to MBC. To me that's like saying Lucifer is an angel and Satin is the devil. :emlaugh:

The last thing and then I will leave it alone. MBC was the crown jewel of the AME church that have several HBCU(s). You had legacy as well as "well to do" students that attended that school and did'nt see that mess coming. I'm pretty sure there were some students that were much better off financially and academically than some students attending CAU. That's the reason why I think the eyeball test is crazy.........

bruh Im telling you my experience... now if you experienced something different thats on you... but in my experience I could easily tell.... I was around people everyday from each school... like I said earlier i was the AUC shuttle bus driver...I picked up and dropped off students at every dorm, Vine City, West End Marta Station and West End Mall. Im telling you from MY experience.

If you're dropping students off to their dorm of course you're going to have a good idea. Really? :emlaugh: Like you said though, it's YOUR experience and I can't dispute that....

NO I lived on the corner of Beckwith and Pascals...in the middle of the AUC for 2 years. Right in beside the AUC library.... 2 of my roommates were from Morris Brown... 2 from Morehouse and 1 from CAU. Once again you were on the outside looking in. If you aint go to one of the schools its nothing you can tell me about it....just like its nothing I can tell you about Southern.

GOTT DAYUMM!!!!!!

I USED TO LOVE TO SEE THEM COMING OUT THE WHOLE!!!!! :smh:

I was a student taking classes at Clark Atlanta when Morris Brown closed. Now I believe in open enrollment... but that school was CROOKED. It was like a bigger HOOD high school. Nothing but fights and thugs on their campus. I KNEW it wouldnt last long.

Yeah, I had a church member that worked there in administration. She graduated from there and said the same thing. That they were crooked and EVERYBODY was getting a piece from MoB.

Dude I spent 7 years in the AUC. You can't tell me nothing about that area. I just choose not to tell the world my business. Again to me you sound stupid (not saying you are). I'm pretty sure I know more about CAU, MoBr etc. than the average person.....And have spent nearly twice the amount of time than most students that have matriculated there.......

Doesn't sound like it, either that or your time spent there was 40 years ago. Because if it was close to the time that MBC closed... I don't see how on earth it wasn't distinguishable lol.

lol......That's your opinion (wrong as usual).......To typecast 3000 students or either 50 students is pure lunancy and wreaks ignorance. BTW, that kid in the video I posted finished from MBC in 2008 and went on to graduate (grad school) from an Ivy League school. Thank goodness he didn't listen to some of the stupidity that have been perpetuated in that center for decades.

I am not saying that the accreditation wasn't damaging. If memory serves me correctly MBC did set up alliances with a few universities (not all) that agreed to accept all credits. While there were some thugs there, they are at all universities. I could tell some stories about kids in that AUC from Morehouse and Spelman that would trip you out. What I do know is there were some good kids at MBC that were far from being thugs. Hell, I know a couple of them that were children of celebrities you've probably seen on TV. I understand the point you're trying to make but it's dangerous to typecast. I've seen the same type of thing in New Orleans too. The kids from SUNO are typecasted and the kids at Xavier and Dillard are supposed to be beyond reproach. While it's true on a percetage basis these schools get higher academic achievers than others it doesn't make all of the latter schools students thugs. I'm definitely not here though to defend the bufoonery of that former President and Financial Aid Director that ran MBC in the ground. Many stupid fights have occured in the AUC center between students purporting to be better than another because of where they went/go to school. To me, it is the Willie Lynch Syndrome in higher education. And let's not forget by the grace of God and a lot of pain, rip offs (speaking of crooks) and layoffs CAU was able to retain their accreditation.

Most HBCUs got about 10% of students that don't belong no where near a college campus.

Thanks for posting that documentary. I remember seeing promos for it before it was completed and I was interested in seeing it. So once again, thank you. And regarding the whole fiasco that Morris Brown has been through one brother in the documentary summed it up the best: "What free slaves were able to put together, educated negros ran into the ground."
