hey JR....

You my man and all, so GR feels like he can have a decent conversation with you. You seem like you are the most level headed SU person on this board with half a brain. Them other young cats aint to bright plus they like to pretend like they want to fight so much. The other smart SU person is busy researching the Beckley debacle.

My first quesion is this. What do you honestly think the immediate outlook for SU football is? Since Pete is obviously coming back, arent you looking at another losing season? What do YOU think the problem is? Are you going to get a new OC DC....Do you ever think Pete will to recruit adequately?

GR has so many questions to ask you....thatll do it for now.
 
Do you think the Stealers will be able to cheat their way thru another SB? Why are they have a losing season? This has not been a good football year for you?

SU 2007 Outlook is questionable in my mind if Pete returns. But I will say this. Since the SWAC is so weak......We have a good of shot as any to be in B-ham in 07. What the SU fans will think with another year of Pete is a whole different story. I shudder to think what Mumford will look like. However if we winning then things will be all good. So I think ole Pete if he returns will be trying to prove he needs a contract extention and will be trying to coach his arse off next year. The biggest problem is the staff. Facilities is an excuse. It is a problem but an excuse. Because other teams are winning and they have no state of the art facility either. Pete aint going to ever have the personality to recruit like he should. One reason I want a change. Any other questions............lol.

Uh this is typical Pittsburgh........we have a down year after a couple of good years. We'll be back. Now that the NC State job is not happening for Cowher, he can get that extention. We need to bring in some more players that are hungry. Our secondary needs help. Troy Polamalu can't do it by himself. Big Ben needs to worry about getting himself ready for next year and leave them bikes alone and concentrate on getting better at Qb. I don't think he realizes that he has not arrived as Qb. Injuries and losses of veteran players hurt Pittburgh. Don't worry they are one of the best organizations in finding talent and draft better than anybody. Class organization. So they will be back.

BTW, my season is cool. SU and the Steelers have a down year......But my other alma mater is playing in the National title game and are the recruits are lining up in Columbus for another run in 08. We'll be in transition like Texas next year. From Troy to the brother from Albany Ga at Qb.

Well you can take the "IF" off the Pete returning thing. If yall were going to fire Pimping Pete, it woulda been done by now. Forget about making it to the SCG next year. PB has a horrible defense, but you dont have the offense to take advantage of it. Plus Mallet, Wallace, and that other guy will be back next year. But PB really aint that good so you might be right.

Now....about 5 or 6 years ago, GR was noticing that recruiting at SU was not that good. As a matter of fact, the talent really fell off when Singletary left. So when GR was trying to tell you that back then, you really gave me a hard time. When SU started playing a lot of D2 schools just to get by, GR pointed that out, and again you gave me a hard time.

You should know by now that GR doesnt talk just to say mean stuff. There is a method to my madness. You know GR is years ahead of the rest of you....(please see All SWAC debate GR raised 5 years ago).

Now that Randy Shannon looks like he is going to be busy for a couple of years, who do you think is going to be SUs next coach?
 
Troy Smith didnt win the Maxwell trophy....somehow Quinn won it. Is Troy in for a big surprise for the Heisman?

GR if you know SU like JR knows SU then you have to say if. There are too many variables to definitely say Pete is safe. We already know one board member wants him gone. How many others is the key. I do know this, it is going to be some mad Jags if he returns. So we'll see.

The issue on recruiting is being proactive and utilizing the resources you have. Vantz Singletary did that. So did Fred Kaiss. They hustled. They were personable. I actually witnessed them interacting with a group of prospective recruits. They were smooth and you can see the kids responding. Pete don't have those type of folks on staff except for our WR coach Dooley who does a great job in that area. We all know Coach Rich isn't a people person and he doesn't utilize his alumni base like he should.......I could go on. But you get the picture. All this has been public knowledge....so it aint nothing new. Notice how your boy Comegy warmed up to Jackson, the media and alums. Well apparently he was not like that at TU. But he knew he had to make that change to be coaching at JSU. Well Pete never made that transition. He always had others to do it. Now they are gone.

BTW, the D2 games didn't start until this nine game mandate crap and the fact we needed extra home games for revenue. It had nothing to do with running from opposing 1A teams. Why would we. Pete had a decent record against the NW States. We played Bowl BoundTulane respectful and unlike our Northern La folks........we didn't get shut out. The scheduling was another laziness issue in my book. Not a run from competition.

Well I think they felt like they better give ole Brady something, before he cried. He looked so sad when Troy won the O'Brien award. I think the way the Heisman is voted on by former winners and sports folks .........Troy should win. If not ...........I feel sorry for what will happen to Florida. That would be the worse news they could get if Troy gets robbed of the Heisman. In my mind it may be better he didn't and have the Heisman Jinx. LOL. Seriously, I doubt he loses to Quinn.
 
Why not blame AJ for turning the SWAC around. The guy can really recruit and I guess this is why GSU wanted him. Next year we may have the same problem as University of Alabama trying to keep AJ. GR when you all finish this conversation please contact Mike so he can tell your coach how long it will take JSU to get into another SCG.

Hear GR now and believe GR later. Nobody else wants AJ. Let me tell you this and you can take this to the bank. AJ Memphis is a decent coach, but by no means is he a great coach. He does not have great strategy, he does not recruit well, and he panics under pressure. You should not have lost so many SWAC games with that many returning players if he was a good coach. Comegy came to JSU and out recruited him in 2 months. JSU has already surpassed A&M and its going to get worse for you in the future. GR knows you saw it.

Here is a word of advice from GR. You know that GR would never ever steer you wrong cause GR is bound by the truth. Tell your AD this. Dont break the bank to keep AJ. Nobody is going to try to outbid you for him. He cant do better than A&M. Offer him a raise if he wins the SCG, give him an incentive based contract, but do not over pay him. The main reason is, he is not doing anything to warrant being over paid. Any coach that loses to PV under any circumstances does not deserve a big raise. AJ is a good assistant coach type, he is not a good head coach.

You really dont have much in AJ. A&M could do better, AJ cant do better than A&M. And that my friend is the bottom line.

What the hell happened after you beat us by the skin of your teeth? With the way our offense was going then, and the way y'all were rolling, it should not have been close. Did the team lose focus because Prairie View didn't recover until the last week of the year?

Why did your coach never use that tight end from Ohio State? I saw him when I made the trip up there and the kid can run. Is that another case of "-oonish" coaching that runs rampant in this conference?

Is there anyone behind Oliver? WE made him look great with our shoddy defensive back play. We saw what happened against better defensive teams (i.e Grambling and A&M).

The SWAC should be more open next year than ever .... MVSU loses a bunch, JSU and SU have interesting issues, maybe Gram's coaching staff can catch up to its kids, UAPB should be solid, but with a target on their back for the first time in a while and everyone else has some improving to do. AAMU is the wildcard. I know they lose Baldwin, but if their defense keeps up what they have done over the last few years and they can find a steady offense (I know, story of AAMU since they have been in the SWAC), they will be the odds on favorite.
 



GR, you are talking about the old AJ. In the last two years, you must have seen some improvement in the coaching ability of AJ. He is a winner and for some reason he has not been able to motivate his team unless he is playing one of the former Big Three. When we are not playing a member of the former big three, he seems to be disinterested. By losing game we should have been more than competative in seems to be the bases for your assessment. In addition, after we win our first Football championship, I am sure you would rate him right up there with Hughes.

MD....only cause you are you will GR give the game up for free...

AJ is a decent coach for one reason and one reason only. He teaches FUNDAMENTALS. He hung in there with FUNDAMENTALS all this time and it looks like its going to pay off. A&M really hasnt gotten any better....the SWAC has gotten worse (talent wise). As a matter of fact, A&M was better the past two years.

SWAC teams have been beating you over the years because they were so much more talented than A&M. Over time when those player left, now A&M looks better. Talent beats FUNDAMENTALS only if talent is twice as good or better.

Some teams dont have FUNDAMENTALS, only talent. So when the all time great QB leaves they go from 11-1 to 3-8 in one year. The senior RB cant run up the middle for 6 inches when needed. He has to go around the end where there is no help cause he is not FUNDAMENTALLY sound.

A&M may never have that kind of fall off because your success does not go thru skilled talent. Your players are interchangable because none of them make a discernable difference.

You have made an improvement on defense. Seems like Jones and Townes have learned that "everybody run to toward the football when they snap it" is not sound FUNDAMENTAL football.

Jones is a better coach than Hughes, but he could never beat Hughes cause he can never outrecruit Hughes and JSU. JSUs talent will always be twice as good (at least).

79...my bad man....GR didnt mean to leave you out. You are another SU grad that can talk about an issue without acting like a......uuuuh....well....without acting like a Southern grad.

Come on 79....your offense didnt do anything in that game. You scored 4 TDs in the game.....2 were created by your special teams and your defense scored once. Your only offensive TD was a 3rd down and long give up play that just happened to turn into a 50 yard TD run.

Sincerely, you were not on our level. Your team was more FUNDAMENTALLY sound than JSU, therefore you were able to stay competitive. What you dont realize is, most of the players on JSUs team had only been here a few months. It takes time to build and become sound FUNDAMENTALLY.

The offensive line didnt give Oliver enough time to get the ball to the TE. The TE was probably the best blocker on the line so he served a purpose this year. Other than a few players (Freshmen) on the offensive line, JSU does not have any issues, so you lost me there. Our skilled position offensive players are Division 1 caliber, now we have to get our OL to match that. When that happens and it will happen in 07, look out.

JSU should have won the SWAC this year, so you know it is not going to be wide open next year. JSU will go into next season head and shoulders above the rest. Comegy served notice this year. JSU is the best team in the SWAC but we didnt finish teams off like we should have. Next year JSU will have TALENT + FUNDAMENTALS.

Its really too early for me to forecast what will happen around the SWAC next year from here. JSU will be the favorite in the East and PB will be favored in the west with Wallace Mallet and that other guy returning. Look for a turnover in SWAC coaches at Gram/SU/TSU.

That's what I'm talking about. You proved my point. Our offense wasn't doing isht and we were ONE smart playcall away in the last few minutes from getting Ackley a better kick and tanking your season in the process. We should not have been that close.

Fundamentally sound ...... Southern ..... this past year? Are you serious? We never excelled at what ever our offense was supposed to be AND we only ran the ball once Addison took it on himself and his speed.

Did you watch our defense that night ..... George and Wilkerson are my boys, but they allowed Jaymar to get behind them twice ..... if they converge on him, Oliver gets sacked both times. The only thing they did right that night was SLOW down a rusing attack that was rolling to that point.

And a coaching change at SU is something you guys might not want to see.

But that wasn't because of your defense. If not for the blocked punts, your team would have been out of it by halftime.
 
bluedog is still waiting for GR to tell everybody how he feels about having four losing seasons in a row. Maybe GR can tell the truth about that and not divert or at least try. :emlaugh:

You better leave La alone bruh. JSU folded after skating by SU. Then gets beat down by 2-9 ram and went on to win just one other game. Now your sad arse Cowgirls got their arses handed to them on National TV by Dem Saints. You better stick to jocking Kobe and leave the Boot alone man. It aint going to well for your teams against them........well I guess you did win against SU......talk about a jinx......:jump: It is the curse of La on your arse. LOL
