A Labor Day Bayou Classic!

The crowds are still alive and well in New Orleans on Bayou Classic weekend...The Fanfare is still there.. However, The Game itself is an after thought..... It is what it is!!..

Exactly JagGrad. People still attend the Bayou Classic "The Event". Hell the Battle of The Bands alone has more people than many games and the people are packed on Canal, Bourbon etc. It would be nice if they could black out the game in New Orleans to make the people go to the game. Most people get sloppy drunk that Friday, chill in their rooms on Sat to watch the game, then come out that night and get sloppy drunk again lol.

Couldn't they do all of this labor day weekend so that both teams will have a chance to go to the playoffs?

What HBCU has benefited going to the play-off? The reason I ask because back in the mid-90’s the play-offs vs. classics on this site would get into can we say “heated debates.â€￾ But some 25 years later, I can’t see where play-offs or classics have done anything for HBCU football as a whole. Some schools have had some success maybe 2 or 3 years in intervals but nothing substantial. What will change for the next 25 years going to the play-off? What can the SWAC do that a conference like the MEAC didn’t do? Looking at your join date you have been around a while so what am I missing?

We need to make the BC "The Event" like it use to be. Some dummy decided they wanted to make it all about the game and for it to be about the game both teams need to be winning. Before it was all about the event, and the event drew all kinds of celebrities, it didn't matter if both teams were winless.

So since SU has not had a winning team in years....by definition your team killed the Bayou Classic....:emlaugh:

EMBARASSING...:vomit:

I have to agree with you on this…it’s too many people in New Orleans making money…even if the State has to pass a law to keep that game there.
The state would probably threaten both schools with massive cuts.

Stump still raking leaves? :emlaugh:

Stump: Hey Doug what's up!!
Doug: Hey scrub errrrrr Stump.
Stump: Well your team played well.
Doug: Yea we kicked yalls ass..errrrrr Yea our teams played well.
Doug: You know I could have had this job.
Stump: Thanks for the favor. You mind letting us win next year.
Doug: One favor is enough. Don't wear out your welcome.

That question has been answered 1,000,000 times but as usual, people will act like they don't understand the big FCS picture. mentality and thinking still stuck in SWACworld.

One more time.

By showing the FCS National leaders that we can't even get the teams IN the conference all on the same page. Why in the heck would they go through the trouble of dealing with any of us when other conferences follow the guidlines of making their entire conferences playoff ready when the bids go out.

NOW................BACK TO TOPIC.

Yes sir! And that led to the birth of the Heritage Bowl in Atlanta which failed. And the commish wants to do it again.

Dayumit Big Bro!!!! You killin me mang!!! :dead:  No Mas Gracias!!!!!!!

He did eat the hell out them Boogers tho.....Uncouth!!!! LMBO!!!

I would rather the Thanksgiving weekend but if we have to move it to Labor Day weekend, i think it would be successful. Still a holiday weekend, first game of the season between two "real" rivals. First game is always anticipated so with everything surrounding it, i think it would be successful and would probably draw more people. If we continue to have it in New Orleans, Grambling and SU need to start speaking up on the hotel prices, hell they really need to lower the ticket prices for a while to get more butts in the season. The tickets should in a package, since the Battle of the Bands is $15, the game should be $15 so give the fans a double special. $30 for both the BOTB/Greekshow plus the Game. That alone would make a difference.

Frat, the truth is the truth. Booger eater dun kilt da Classic. :lecture:

The Boogie Eater kicked your asses and will continue to. So SU is lower than boogers. lol:lol::lol:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Seriously, all jokes aside.

I wouldn't mind seeing it moved to Labor Day just once, to see how it would go. Naturally, due to families coming in for Thanksgiving versus Labor Day would piss some folks off because traditionally, folks come in Wednesday night, Break bread on Thursday, and on Friday, roll on down to the city(or for the same day folks, roll out Saturday AM)

Now someone mentioned having the game on a Sunday, , wouldnt be a bad idea. I would suggest starting the game like at 3p vs 1p.

1 PM games for black folks on party weekends are just bad. I have been trying to tell our admins that. When the JSU-Alcorn game starts at 3 or 4, we get a crowd of 45-50K. When it starts at 1, we get 30K. WE are just getting out of the bed at 10 or 11AM (if that) after getting in at 3, 4, 5, 6...

Just know that an SU Alum is Boogers Attorney. And you guys will be dancing a jig once He defeats Gram in a court of law(or even if a Settlement is reached)

Just thought I'd throw that out there.

We dont agree on MUCH, but you get the point.

I remember a many of classics when I would get in from the Quarter at 5 or 6 in the morning, go to sleep, wake up and it 's like 12:30. Scrambling to get to the game.

But, when it was at 3...no problem getting there on time.

Black folks pay for what they want. They have no problem paying $50-$100 for concert tickets. Another thing they need to stop having that free concert outside the stadium. I remember the year Wayne got out of jail his first concert was outside the Super Dome for free at kickoff time. They need to have the concerts inside the super lounges before, during , and after the game.
