7 weird things about Gadhafi

Charles Taylor will be jailed. Trust, his case has been fixed at the Hague. His son is in jail in Florida. Taylor can not be allowed to roam free.

What do you mean when you say the case is fixed? Are you saying the evidence against him is overwhelming or that he'll be railroaded regardless of the evidence?

Re: Costed U.S. 1 billion dollars for Gadhafi's head

so is this why our money is not backed by gold?
who tells the world what can be used as currency?

The latter. Leaked memo's pretty much confirmed that we were ensuring a guilty verdict at the trial. His supporters blocked the FBI from collecting information against his son from the Mansion.

Wow.

New World Order.

Although I'm not sure how you block the FBI if they have a search warrant, I wouldn't be surprised if our government was playing international legal tit-for-tat like that.

Really? I work with a cat who's dad is very close friends with Charles Taylor. Matter of fact, he was there helping Charles Taylor in Libya (which is my boy's father country also) with the revolution. I would post his name, but you know how those revolutionists are.

I couldn't have said it better. I got to arguing with some cats outside one night about Mengistu and Taylor.

That's what got me smh-ing at some of the responses on this thread. We not even talking about the stuff he's done outside of the continent... Dude has bankrolled Milosevic, Jorg Haider. He bankrolled (along with Hugo Chavez) the FARC. He Ran the very first STATE sponsored terrorist program (Lockerbie or LaBelle nightclub bombings anyone?).

Heck, here's a list of some other folks that received Ghadafi money:

The Red Army Faction
the Red Brigades
The Irish Republican Army
New People's Army
Communist Party of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
Organisasi Papua Merdeka

Folks on here fawning over the fact he added some infrastructure to his country...I wonder how many folks disappeared out of their homes in the middle of the night to pay for that infrastructure.

Again, you don't here Louis talking too much smack about him now, though...

Re: Costed U.S. 1 billion dollars for Gadhafi's head

The only question I would have is if Gadhafi was this known ruthless dictator, terrorist and bankrolled other ruthless dictators and terrorists for years, why did NATO, UN the U.S. feel the need to go after this guy only in recent months?

Opportunity. You know how many ruthless dictators are in power in the world?

I don't think it's a simple as that, Black...

The countries that have been a part of this wave of revolutionary behavior are doing so because they DON'T HAVE the basic things everybody else has in the civilized world, Specifically human rights, educational opportunities, social equality, etc.

You're seeing the same issues in ALOT of Sharia controlled states (i.e. Iran, Yemen, Baharain, etc.). ANY leader looking to 'unite the arab world' better thing about the basic stuff first, because folks ain't havin' it anymore...

Re: Costed U.S. 1 billion dollars for Gadhafi's head

Simple, he became an asset in de-stabilizing the other cats on the board. It really changed for him after Ronny raygun sent some F-111's to his doorstep in the late 80's.

He saw what happened to Saddam in the first Gulf war and said "Eff this, I better get on the right side before i get got".

At that point he gave up his chemical weapons program and worked closely with the U.S. (and NATO) to expose other despots in the region that were getting those aspirations also.

In other words, he threw some of his other buddies under the bus after he saw the righting on the wall...It saved him for a good little bit. Heck, he probably would've fallen off of the radar completely if he would've stepped down.

So if Gadhafi was no real threat to the U.S., why did we get involved?

Re: Costed U.S. 1 billion dollars for Gadhafi's head

first, NATO got involved, not just the U.S....This wasn't something Obama cooked up sauntering to the Oval office. In fact, we had a secondary role in aiding the rebel forces over there and THAT came after much consternation from other countries on the U.N. security council (namely Germany, Brazil, China, etc.)

Second, Ghadafi was using his military forces on his own people. that no-fly zone didn't magically come about because he was sitting there twiddling his thumbs. Amnesty International and other Human Rights orgs initially reported the government doing those things and the U.N. caught wind of it, hence NATO involvement

Re: Costed U.S. 1 billion dollars for Gadhafi's head

It was Qaddhafi that back the ANC against white-minority goverment of South Africa during seventies and eighties.. He definitely gave some aid to ZANU-PF and Mugabe against Ian Smith as well!!!!!!!!!

lol

Dude, Ghadafi backed them folks out of convenience...How in the heyal can you play at being 'anti-aparteid' when you're supporting ethnic cleansing in at least 3 other places on the continent??? C'mon son...*lol*

Speaking of Mugabe, what has happened to the country since he's been in power??? :smh:

The dude is a strongman himself AND he's been doing ALOT of the same types of things we've been talking about in this thread.

Humanitarian reasons. No U.S. President is going to stand by and allow a despot turn his military against his on people. Have you been paying attention to what's happening in Syria?

We kill our own people here every day and rarely does NATO or the president intervene.

The "Bunga-Bunga"--...to tell you the truth, now it doesn't surprise me now that you think of the Nurses, the virgins, and the photos of Rice! I wonder what will happen to those women now that he is gone--can't help,, but wonder...AND thank GOD he didn't get the African confederation together with his schemin' background !
