. . .clearly this is not a problem that is unique to Atl.

I didn't say it was a problem unique to Atlanta.

The article that I posted in my thread about a year ago dealt specifically with Georgia, and listed the Atlanta area as the main cause for Georgia's high rate of foreclosures.

I pointed out the 4 listing in the top 55 to support my point that I was merely providing information, and not hating on Atlanta. Apparently, you didn't get the point.

mh, Michael Baisden did a show about this very thing about 2 weeks ago, and judging by the callers calling from Detroit, you could tell they were having real problems out there. I remember one realtor who called from Detroit talking about a house that was foreclosed on in Bloomfield Hills (a pretty nice area in metro Detroit), who said that they're dayum near giving foreclosure houses away out there. She said the house was appraised at 280k, but they ended up selling it for about 75k, because the housing marketi so bad out there.

Michael Baisden even talked about how bad the market is in Miami, and how he had to sell his spot. Be careful homebuyers, because in a lot of markets it's truly "Buyer Beware."

NICE

:eek::eek::eek:

DAMN!!!

not to sound insensitive, but the flip side of foreclosure is the helluva deals a buyer can potentially get. (Although, a buyer would have to be mindful that the area may have a lot of foreclosures, and once you buy, then you'll end up hating the surrounding foreclosures. LOL)

Wow. We have to manage our money better. This whole country is making poor decisions when it comes to money.

Poor decisions aren't really the problem. When the skill labor jobs in this country are being reduced every day that's our problem. There are no jobs in the motor city. Their has to be a balance in th the blue collar/ white collar sector. Leadership of this country os the problem. The Republicans are destroying us with the only answer they have is WAR. They are still blaming Clinton when te onlything he did wrong was get a blow job.

You are absolutely correct. When Bush first took office I told people that man would cause this country so many problems. Bush picked up where Reagan left off. They made the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Poor money decisions ARE a major problem.... when you have a "good" (relatively speaking) job and STILL live check to check that is a problem.

No surprise seeing all of those zip codes in CA. A lot of those areas had the least expensive homes and people just wanted to get in a house.

j4l, poor money decisions play a huge roll, but in an area like Detroit, where so much rides on the auto industry (which is in turmoil right now), the job market is up, and down. I know when my wife was living there, it was surprising to me, to find out how many people only had seasonal jobs, and it was hard finding a everyday job/career, because so much rode on the auto industry's back. When the automakers are hurting, a lot of the subsidary companies that rely on the automakers hurt too.

For them, it wasn't just the auto industry, because they had a massive teacher layoff, or stirke recently, I can't remember which one it was, but there were a lot of people out of work.

NICE

Oh yeah Detroit is in serious trouble because of the auto industry. I agree.

But in the DFW area, for example, they don't depend on one industry for the majority of their jobs.

That's true, but I was talking about more people in the skill labor sector like Detriot. Manufactoring jobs are hurting this economy in this country something bad.

The DFW area is a corporate headquarter area, heavily loaded in TECH jobs. Downsizing has been a way of life in the DFW area for the past 7 years.

And neither one is close too what is going on in other cities.......

Only one spot near Houston made the list which is a surprise to me...

And we know Frisco aint no bigger then Grambling.

Pearland
Mo City
Kingwood
Woodlands (yes the Woodlands)

I will like to see this same list at the end of the year with rising gas cost

Them ARM's got a lot of folks twisted. When the wife and I bought our house, our realtor tried to tell us we could buy a whole lot more house for the same money. When I found out he was talking about an ARM, I ended that discussion right there.
