I saw it a week ago. IMHO, it was good but I was expecting a little more. There was clapping in the theatre I went to also which indicated a lot of people enjoyed it. JROCK would rate it an 8 out of ten.
who played the 'white savior' in the film?
& yes this is why I haven't seen the movie
+1, almost. Saw it opening w/e but I was really expecting a lot more from it. Was one of only 4 blacks in the theatre so the ofays were clapping like crazy @ the end, just like D'Jango :retard:. I rated it a 5 of 10.
You mean Branch Rickey? Harrison Ford.
The movie was a solid family tale, but lacked depth and historical content. That made the film a little disappointing to me.
All of the movies have the same type of message, with a white savior in them....so tired of that. Show some films of us, making our way without the white savior perspective, then I'll bite.
I can pretty much bet anyone in here that The Butler will be the same way
P88, you need to give it at least 1 more point, my friend's son is in the movie,
I'll give it one more 1 ONLY because alum is starring the movie. I was expecting more of what I think he went through, especially travelling through the segregated south.![]()
This I agree with. I thought they would show a little more of that stuff.
Let me try to understand what you're saying here......Because it comes off as ignorant.
Are you saying that the movie should have been made without Branch Rickey involved or are you saying that the movie shouldn't have been made at all? How can you have the Jackie Robinson story without Branch Rickey or Leo Durocher?? If you watched the movie or read anything about Jackie Robinson it didn't come off as "white savior".
